Abstract

This study investigates the effect of product quality on customer loyalty with customer satisfaction serving as a mediating variable among Generation Z consumers of Kopi Kenangan in Makassar City. The study was motivated by the increasing competition within Indonesia’s coffee shop industry and the declining Top Brand Index of Kopi Kenangan despite its strong brand recognition among Generation Z consumers. Grounded in Consumer Behavior Theory and Expectancy Disconfirmation Theory, this research employed a quantitative explanatory approach to examine the relationships among product quality, customer satisfaction, and customer loyalty. Data were collected from 110 Generation Z consumers who had purchased Kopi Kenangan products at least three times within the previous two months. Respondents were selected using purposive sampling, and data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS version 4.0.9.9. The measurement model demonstrated satisfactory validity and reliability, with all factor loadings exceeding 0.70, Average Variance Extracted (AVE) values above 0.50, and Composite Reliability values above 0.90. The structural model revealed that product quality has a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction (β = 0.772, p < 0.001) and customer loyalty (β = 0.241, p = 0.009). Customer satisfaction also exerts a positive and significant influence on customer loyalty (β = 0.598, p < 0.001). Furthermore, mediation analysis confirmed that customer satisfaction partially mediates the relationship between product quality and customer loyalty (β = 0.462, p < 0.001), with a Variance Accounted For (VAF) value of 65.79%. These findings indicate that improving product quality enhances customer satisfaction, which subsequently strengthens customer loyalty. Therefore, maintaining consistent product quality and customer satisfaction is essential for sustaining long-term loyalty among Generation Z consumers in the highly competitive coffee shop industry.

Abstract

This study examines ethical accountability and professional accounting ethics within the context of PT Freeport Indonesia, one of the largest mining companies operating in Indonesia. The research investigates three key issues: the forms of ethical misconduct associated with the company, the accounting ethics principles affected by these practices, and their implications for corporate accountability and stakeholder trust. Drawing upon Stakeholder Theory and Legitimacy Theory, the study adopts a qualitative case study approach and utilizes secondary data collected from corporate reports, government publications, academic literature, media reports, and non-governmental organization documents. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify recurring patterns related to environmental responsibility, transparency, governance practices, and stakeholder welfare. The findings reveal four major categories of ethical concerns, namely environmental accountability issues, transparency and disclosure concerns, governance-related controversies, and stakeholder welfare issues. The analysis indicates that these concerns are associated with violations of professional responsibility, integrity, objectivity, and public interest principles within the accounting ethics framework. The study also demonstrates that ethical controversies may generate regulatory consequences, reputational risks, and challenges to organizational legitimacy, ultimately affecting stakeholder trust and long-term sustainability. The findings contribute to the accounting ethics and corporate accountability literature by highlighting the interconnected nature of environmental, social, and governance responsibilities in the extractive industry. The study emphasizes the importance of transparency, ethical governance, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable business practices in strengthening organizational accountability and maintaining public legitimacy.

Abstract

Financial statements play a crucial role in capital markets by providing information that supports investment decision-making. Despite their importance, investors do not always interpret financial statement information uniformly because interpretation is influenced by individual knowledge, experience, and psychological factors. This study aims to explore how investors interpret financial statement information, identify factors influencing those interpretations, and examine the role of interpretation in investment decision-making. The study employs a qualitative approach within an interpretive paradigm to understand the meanings investors assign to accounting information. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving active capital market investors selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis followed the interactive model of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing, complemented by thematic analysis to identify recurring patterns. The findings reveal that investors perceive financial statements as important sources of information for evaluating company performance, profitability, financial stability, and growth prospects. Interpretations vary according to financial literacy, investment experience, information complexity, perceived credibility of financial reports, psychological characteristics, and social influences. Experienced investors tend to interpret accounting information more critically and integrate it with contextual considerations, whereas less experienced investors often depend on external information sources. The findings also demonstrate that investment decisions are not based solely on financial statement information but emerge from an interpretative process involving accounting information, investor characteristics, and broader informational environments. This study contributes to the accounting and behavioral finance literature by demonstrating that financial statements function not only as providers of objective information but also as interpretative instruments through which investors construct meaning and make investment decisions.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of ESG Decoupling on Stock Price Crash Risk (SPCR) and examines the moderating role of Political Connections among non-financial firms listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. ESG Decoupling refers to the divergence between sustainability disclosure and actual environmental, social, and governance performance, reflecting the extent to which firms engage in symbolic sustainability reporting. Drawing upon Positive Accounting Theory, Legitimacy Theory, Signaling Theory, and the Bad News Hoarding Theory, this study argues that ESG Decoupling increases information asymmetry and encourages the accumulation of undisclosed adverse information, thereby elevating future stock price crash risk. The study employs a quantitative research design using panel data from 142 non-financial firms during the 2018–2024 period, resulting in 994 firm-year observations. ESG Disclosure Scores are obtained from Bloomberg, ESG Performance Scores from Refinitiv Eikon, and political connection data are manually collected from annual reports and corporate governance disclosures. Fixed-effects regression models are used to test the hypotheses, while System Generalized Method of Moments estimation is employed to address potential endogeneity concerns. The empirical results indicate that ESG Decoupling has a positive and statistically significant effect on Stock Price Crash Risk. Political Connections strengthen this relationship, suggesting that politically connected firms experience more severe adverse consequences when sustainability disclosures diverge from actual ESG performance. Robustness analyses using alternative measurements and dynamic specifications confirm the consistency of the findings. The study contributes to the emerging ESG literature by demonstrating that disclosure credibility represents a critical determinant of market stability and by highlighting the governance risks associated with political affiliations in emerging capital markets.

Abstract

: Cultural tourism destinations increasingly need to provide meaningful and emotionally engaging experiences to encourage tourists’ future behavioral intentions. However, limited studies have examined how cultural experiences influence revisit intention through tourist emotion in community-based tourism villages, particularly in Indonesia. This study aims to investigate the effect of cultural experience on revisit intention through tourist emotion among visitors of Rammang-Rammang Tourism Village, Indonesia. A quantitative survey approach was employed involving 115 tourists who had visited the destination within the last two years. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS 22.0. The findings indicate that cultural experience positively and significantly affects tourist emotion (β = 0.741, p < 0.001) and revisit intention (β = 0.286, p < 0.01). Tourist emotion also positively influences revisit intention (β = 0.554, p < 0.001) and significantly mediates the relationship between cultural experience and revisit intention. The novelty of this study lies in examining the mediating role of tourist emotion within a community-based cultural tourism village context. The findings suggest that sensory, emotional, participatory, and reflective cultural experiences strengthen tourists’ emotional attachment and encourage revisit behavior. These results contribute to cultural tourism literature and provide practical guidance for destination managers in designing more experiential and emotionally meaningful tourism programs.

Abstract

Tourism sustainability depends not only on destination attractiveness but also on tourists’ travel experiences and satisfaction. While previous tourism studies have primarily emphasized destination attributes, limited attention has been given to how travel satisfaction influences revisit intention through destination satisfaction, particularly in coastal tourism destinations in Indonesia. Therefore, this study investigates the effect of travel satisfaction on revisit intention through destination satisfaction among tourists visiting Tanjung Bira Beach, Indonesia. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey of 120 tourists, and the data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with AMOS 22.0. The results indicate that travel satisfaction positively and significantly affects destination satisfaction (β = 0.712, p < 0.001) and revisit intention (β = 0.284, p = 0.003). Destination satisfaction also positively influences revisit intention (β = 0.566, p < 0.001). Furthermore, destination satisfaction significantly mediates the relationship between travel satisfaction and revisit intention (indirect effect = 0.403; 95% CI [0.268, 0.548]). Unlike previous studies focusing primarily on destination characteristics, this study examines how travel satisfaction contributes to revisit intention through destination satisfaction in a coastal tourism context. Practically, the findings suggest that tourism managers should improve not only destination facilities and attractions but also transportation accessibility, travel comfort, and overall travel experiences to strengthen tourist loyalty and encourage repeat visitation.
