Abstract

Critical thinking skills are an ability that must be possessed by students in the learning process. The process of learning mathematics is interrelated with the learning process of critical thinking in students because it trains students to solve problems that are included in the indicators of critical thinking skills. Many students are not interested in learning mathematics so that their critical thinking skills become low due to lack of problem solving. This study aims to determine the critical thinking skills of fourth grade elementary school students in mathematics. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. Qualitative descriptive method is a research method carried out based on a qualitative approach that covers natural conditions and problems about a person's experience in the place under study. The instruments used in collecting research data are observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation studies. The subjects of this research were students of SD Muhammadiyah Sugio Lamongan. The focus of this research is the ability of critical thinking in grade IV students at SD Muhammadiyah Sugio Lamongan. The results of this study indicate that students' critical thinking skills in math subjects are still fairly low. This is because among the six indicators of critical thinking skills observed there are still many students who have not fulfilled these indicators.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of understanding of the concept of NSP of grade V students at SD Negeri Bedahan. Concept understanding is an important foundation in the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills, especially in learning Natural and Social Sciences (ESS) which contains various natural and social phenomena. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation studies. The research subjects consisted of the fifth grade homeroom teacher and 32 fifth grade students. The results showed that students' understanding of the concept of NSP was low. The main factors that influence this condition are the dominance of the lecture method which makes students passive, the use of learning media in the form of textbooks and videos, although learning facilities are adequate but the use of interactive learning media is still minimal. In addition, students tend to memorize concepts without understanding the deep meaning, and are embarrassed and afraid to ask questions when experiencing difficulties. This study recommends the need for the use of interactive learning methods and the utilization of digital interactive learning media to increase students' understanding of NSP concepts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the critical thinking skills of fourth grade students in the subject of Natural and Social Sciences (NSP) at SD Muhammadiyah 1 Ngimbang. The background of this study is the low critical thinking skills of students which is influenced by the use of media and learning methods that are still conventional and less interactive. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The results showed that the dominance of using textbooks as the main media causes learning to take place abstractly and monotonously, so that students become passive and have difficulty in understanding the material. Although the school has technology facilities, its utilization in learning is still minimal. The lack of contextual and interactive learning media causes low student concentration and has an impact on weak critical thinking skills and the application of knowledge in everyday life. This study recommends the use of more innovative learning media and teacher training in the utilization of technology to support critical thinking skills in accordance with the principles of Merdeka Curriculum.

Abstract

The relationship between schools and communities is a critical factor in supporting the creation of an inclusive and sustainable educational ecosystem, particularly in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. This article aims to examine school-community relationship management using the POAC (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling) management approach in a primary education context. This study employed a descriptive qualitative method with data collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results show that planning was conducted participatively through deliberative forums and SWOT analysis involving the community; organizing involved parents’ associations and external stakeholders; program implementation included direct community participation in activities such as Market Day, Outing Class, Ramadhan Talkshow, and Jesa School Care; and supervision was carried out through regular evaluations and the use of communication technology as a transparency tool. This strategy fostered tangible collaboration, enhanced the community’s sense of ownership of the school, and established a professional and adaptive relationship. It is concluded that the POAC-based management approach is effective in managing school-community partnerships to improve the overall quality of education.

Abstract

Civic literacy is a critical competency for primary education, fostering students’ understanding of societal roles, rights, and responsibilities. However, traditional teaching methods often struggle to engage young learners effectively in this domain. This study aims to explore the enhancement of civic literacy through innovative pedagogical strategies, specifically Game-Based Learning (GBL) and Team Games Tournament (TGT), by conducting a bibliometric review of relevant literature from 2015 to 2025. The method involved systematic data collection from academic databases, followed by quantitative and qualitative bibliometric analyses to identify research trends, influential works, and thematic developments related to GBL and TGT in civic education. Results reveal an increasing scholarly interest in applying GBL and TGT as engaging, interactive, and collaborative approaches that promote critical civic competencies among primary school students. Key findings highlight the positive impact of these methods on student motivation, teamwork skills, and civic knowledge acquisition. Despite promising outcomes, gaps remain in long-term impact studies and cross-cultural applicability. In conclusion, this review underscores the potential of integrating GBL and TGT in primary education to effectively foster civic literacy, encouraging further empirical research and practical implementation tailored to diverse educational contexts.
