The aim of the Conference on Design Manufacture Engineering and Its Application (CDMA) is to provide a scientific platform for researchers, academics, and professionals to share and disseminate original research, innovative ideas, and practical developments in the fields of design engineering, manufacturing technology, and their multidisciplinary applications. CDMA welcomes the submission of theoretical and empirical papers that aim to advance knowledge, challenge conventional practices, and offer new insights into areas such as product design, manufacturing systems, industrial automation, materials engineering, and related domains. Submissions may employ various methodological approaches, including experimental research, modeling and simulation, qualitative studies, and data-driven analysis.

Abstract

Repair and maintenance activities aim to increase the functional capability of a system or tool used in production. At PT. Lintech Duta Pratama (PT. LDP), overhead crane is used as a means of moving materials and finished goods. This tool operates to transport materials and finished goods continuously for ± 7 hours per day for 5 working days a week. However, maintenance actions have not been carried out optimally due to a lack of manpower/workers. Thus resulting in delays in the implementation of maintenance activities and affect the completion of production. Against this background, failure identification was carried out using the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method on the 12.5T overhead crane. With this method the results obtained by filling in the FMEA Worksheet showed that there were 13 components that had the highest risk level value, with 26 failure modes from whole component. The highest RPN value is for the MCB/main power supply component with a value of 209, while the lowest is for the hoisting hook component with a value of 7. So that this component can be considered by the maintenance team and related parties in the company when carrying out maintenance activities on the overhead crane equipment

Abstract

Geopolymers are solid inorganic polymers produced from a chemical reaction called geopolymerization between an alkaline solution and an aluminosilicate source. Aluminosilicate materials are composed of silica and alumina atoms. To activate the polymerization reaction between silica (Si) and alumina (Al) an activator solution is needed. Many studies have used geopolymers because they are known for their fire retardant properties. With the added ingredients of Sodium Borax Tetra Hydrate and Diammonium Phosphate, these two added ingredients have the potential to be fire retardants. To determine the effect of the addition of geopolymer additives, pressure testing was carried out on the specimens before and after being burned at 900 oC for 1 hour. In this study, using raw materials metakaolin and silica fume of 80:20 (%) and a constant KOH pellet and water glass activator solution. As well as varying the additives, namely 1% Sodium Borax Tetra Hydrate, 1% Diammonium Phosphate and specimens without additives. The results of the compression test showed that the composition that had the best compressive strength before combustion was the addition of 1% Diammonium Phosphate, which was 24.4 MPa. While the specimens after burning which have the highest compressive strength value are the specimens without additives, namely 9.5 MPa.

Abstract

There is a shortage of materials at PT. Ometraco Arya Samanta which caused the completion of project workthe gudang tembakau, the gudang penyetelan A & B project was delayed which affected project production. Running out of materials, messy production lines or man hours due to urgent projects and late material purchase schedules can be detrimental for PT. Ometraco Arya Samanta and the ordering party. This study aims to control material needs. The method used is the material requirement planning (MRP) method, namely by making a bill of materials to find out information about all the needs for components and the type of material used by making and completing a job to the end. And the MRP table for material requirements is obtained WF 300 35 spike, WF 500 19 spike, WF 250 29 spike, WF 600 22 spike, WF 250 21 spike, WF 200 10 spike, WF 150 24 spike, L 30 2 spike, L 40 345 spike, L 50 110 spike, L 60 478 spike. CT 200 148 spike, CNP 125 1.526 spike and CNP 100 98 spike. Meanwhile, the manhours requirement for the adjustment gudang penyetelan A & B is 2464,8 JO and gudang tembakau is 2004 JO. Then the number has a total of 4468,8 JO.

Abstract

The development of the beverage industry is increasing, in the handling and management of canned waste there is still a manual process, by stepping on or hitting cans with tools so that the volume of cans shrinks. Therefore, an idea and innovation is needed to design and make a machine as a tool for pressing cans in the form of a small-scale can pressing machine. The process of making the machine uses the Ulrich method. Identification of machine needs to concept selection and design embodiment. Based on the results of the design with the Ulrich method, design concept 2 was selected. Has a relative value for rate of 28% and for weight score of 31%.

Abstract

Industries engaged in manufacturing require a water supply. The required clean water capacity of 100 m³ is used to meet industrial needs, with the fulfillment of this amount having a positive impact on the smooth production process and related aspects for daily needs. The water tank is a water storage container with the aim of fulfilling the water supply at a certain height to provide pressure and facilitate the water distribution system. This research designs a steel structure supporting a water tank to support these needs. The tank tower structure is designed by considering several loads that will be received. The design method used is the Ulrich method, which involves creating three design concepts from which one of the best designs will be selected according to the selection criteria. The design of the steel structure supporting the water tank is carried out through strength analysis with Ansys Mechanical APDL software to determine the amount of stress obtained from the combination of loading received. This research results the steel structure supporting the water tank in the selected design concept shows a maximum stress value of 6.5 kg/mm2. The value obtained is still below the maximum allowable stress value of 16.67 kg/mm2. The total budget for steel structural materials in the form of profiles and plates is Rp 1,197,129,128.00.

Abstract

Indonesia is an agricultural country. One of the largest agricultural commodities in Indonesia is corn. Corn has a high carbohydrate content, Popcorn is an alternative healthy snack made from corn kernels. The process of making popcorn is generally done manually by pouring the corn and seasonings. The manufacturing process can be done with just one button press, and popcorn is ready to be enjoyed using the machine. The new innovation is making an Arduino-based household-scale popcorn machine. The design process using the Ulrich method starts from identifying machine requirements to selecting concepts and design embodiments. Planning and calculations are carried out on the machine design. So the hope is that with this machine this time it can make popcorn production easier in an efficient and ergonomic way. The design of the engine on stir will be analyzed using Fusion 360 Software which will then be made into technical drawings. The machine that has been made will be tested. Based on the results of planning and design using the Ulrich method, design concept 2 was chosen. In testing the Arduino-based household- scale popcorn making machine, the popcorn making process is more automatic in 1 press of a button and produces popcorn 2.45 kg/hour. The total budget needed is IDR 3,104,500.

Abstract

Companies engaged in heavy equipment, both distributors and heavy equipment maintenance processes, generally have warehouses in the storage of spare parts. UT Surabaya has many support points that result in the accumulation of spare parts storage to eat other areas. As a result, the company's workflow is hampered due to improper placement of spareparts in the proper area which results in damage to spare parts. One method that can solve this problem is the Systematic Layout Planning method. This method has a detailed procedure for arranging layouts so that it can bring up more than one alternative layout. In addition, the Class Based Storage method is also used as a design and calculation of racks to design a warehousing system that is aligned within the company. The use of this method resulted in the proposed layout material handling cost, namely the total initial layout OMH was Rp759,235.74, - while the proposed layout OMH was Rp646,000.06,-,. In the comparison of OMH, it was found that the cost decreased by Rp113,235.68,- per day. So the new layout is able to increase the efficiency of mileage material handling costs.

Abstract

Wax injection machining is the only technique to produce many ideal products in large volumes, which is the most common method in the investment casting process. One of the products that has the highest number of orders in metal casting companies using investment casting techniques is the pump casing VS 2/4/6 X product. The VS 2/4/6 X pump casing product consists of 4 components, each of which is injected into a different mold and eventually assembled into a product. Some of the problems encountered in the wax pattern injection results are dimensional accuracy and product defects. Some parameters that will be analyzed for dimensional accuracy and product defects are injection time, injection pressure, and holding time. This research uses response surface method with 15 run orders with 3 replications and applies Box-Behnken Design for research experimental design and ANOVA to analyze the data. Based on the analysis results. It was found that the optimal parameter combination is the value of injection time of 80 seconds, injection pressure of 35 bar, and holding time of 50 seconds. From this configuration, the dimensional accuracy value is 146.230 mm.

Abstract

The potential of the sea in Indonesia is commonly used for the utilization of renewable energy from sea waves. One of the efforts to utilize energy, among others, is using a power plant by utilizing seawater wave power energy. So there is a need for ideas and design concepts about mechanical transmission of power plants powered by more effective seawater waves. This study aims to analyze the design of a cylindrical float type Marine Wave Power Plant (PLTG). This discussion focuses on variations in the height of a device, arm length, and buoy diameter. Where when the amplitude and frequency of water waves provide up and down movements of the cylindrical buoy. Then the torque will be generated from the main shaft which has a one way bearing which aims to rotate in the same direction, then forwarded to rotate the generator which will produce electrical energy. The largest power value is obtained in the variation of tool height (Y = 0.5 m), arm length (Pl = 3 meters), and diameter (ø = 0.4 m) which is 599.596 watts. Then the smallest power value in the variation of tool height (Y = 1.5 m), arm length (Pl = 2 m) and buoy diameter (ø = 0.6 m) which is 291.334 watts.

Abstract

The foundry company has a commitment to always prioritise product quality, the exact dimensions of the products resulting from the finishing CNC process, are classified as without defects. Water Pump products are targeted that have a high reject rate, due to defects in the form of CNC dimension failure, bad casting and 5 variance of te defects. The results of processing Non Conformance Report waster pump products, the number of product quantity increases in production, this successfully proves that there is a defect waste process behaviour. This research applies Six Sigma method for reduce defect. This method includes DMAIC, Define critical waste defect (SIPOC), Measure with DPMO and sigma value Analyze with Fishbone Diagram, Improve with Kaizen resulting in an output sigma level value of 2.98 which rose to 3.00 with a DPMO value from 69,178 to 67,702 due to improvements as well as a predetermined target increase in the sigma level value.
