Abstract

The apple cider vinegar fermentation process requires careful monitoring and control of variables such as pH, alcohol content, and amount of acetic acid. This research adopts Fuzzy Logic Control by utilizing the MQTT communication protocol, pH, alcohol and water pump sensors, as well as solenoid valves and DC motors as actuators. This Internet of Things (IoT) based solution provides real-time monitoring information on the fermentation process. The results showed that the test system succeeded in maintaining a stable pH of around 3.9-4.0 during the initial stages of fermentation, while industrial data showed greater variations. Alcohol content increased consistently in the test system, in contrast to the spike on day 7 in industry data. At the formulation stage, the pH dropped to 3.68 in the test system, while the industry maintained 3.70. At medium and slow mixing stages, the test system showed a significant decrease in pH and a consistent increase in alcohol. At the harvest stage, the pH was lower in the test system compared to industrial, with slightly higher alcohol content. Test results show that the implementation of this system can reduce the fermentation process time by up to 2 days faster compared to conventional methods. This conclusion shows that IoT-based systems are able to provide better control and monitoring than conventional systems, so they have great potential for wider adoption in the apple vinegar fermentation industry to increase production effectiveness.

Abstract

The beverage industry is experiencing significant growth; however, the handling and management of can waste, particularly aluminum can waste, still rely on manual processes, such as stepping on or striking the can with a tool to reduce its volume. Therefore, there is a need for innovation to design and create a small-scale can pressing machine. The development of this machine employs the Ulrich method, which encompasses the identification of machine requirements, concept selection, and design embodiment. Based on the results obtained using the Ulrich method, design concept 2 was selected. Subsequently, planning, calculations, and analyses were conducted to identify the core and supporting components necessary for constructing the machine. The next stage involved creating detailed drawings of the machine, followed by fabrication and testing. During testing, the can pressing machine demonstrated the ability to exert a maximum load of 20,110.5 N, with a torque of 220.990 Nm and a power output of 0.5 HP (356.95 watts). The PZEM-004T microcontroller was utilized to monitor the operational control of the electric motor. The machine successfully reduced the volume of cans by 56.5%, decreasing their initial height from 345 mm to 150 mm, and it is capable of processing 75 cans per minute.

Abstract

Energy cannot be created or destroyed. Transformation of energy is become one way to complete the renewable energy. In oftentimes machine vibrations is considered as interference, but the vibration energy can be convert into electrical energy. This research was conducted to design a machine vibration power plant that uses a mechanical system utilizing vibration energy from industrial machines. Ulrich method is used to determine the design concept. An energy conversion structure has been designed carrying the concept of a mechanical system, making eccentric motion using an intermediary plate system as a channel for engine vibration to cause up and down motion and supported by a transmission system into rotary motion to rotate a generator/dynamo as a generator of electricity. The vibrations generated from industrial machines can be utilized or converted into electrical energy. It is noted that the design of the energy conversion structure with a mechanical crankshaft system has not been able to convert vibrations into electricity according to the plan. The replacement of the material used in the crankshaft energy conversion structure is expected to improve the performance of the energy conversion tool. The engine vibration power plant is offered with a pump concept that can convert vibrations into electrical voltage. The result of the voltage is 0.035V and the resistance is 381.5 Ohms.

Abstract

The accuracy of a ship's heading measurement is an important element in ensuring the ship moves towards its destination precisely and safely. One of the key parameters in this system is the ship's heading, which indicates the direction of the ship relative to a specific reference point, such as magnetic north. However, heading measurements are often affected by environmental disturbances, magnetic interference and sensor calibration errors, which can degrade measurement accuracy. This research proposes the use of the BNO055 sensor, which combines an accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer in a single module to measure ship orientation in three dimensions. An STM32 microcontroller is used to process the data from the BNO055 sensor and calculate the ship's heading and relative bearing with high precision. The calculation results are then displayed on the Nextion Display, providing visual information needed by the user. Test results show that the system provides high accuracy, with an average percentage error of 0.002% for heading and 0.208% for angle. The system can steer the ship with high precision, despite magnetic field disturbances. Thus, this BNO055 and STM32-based system is expected to improve efficiency and accuracy in ship direction measurement applications.

Abstract

The completion of autonomous surface vehicle water missions is required to have adaptive capabilities in maintaining the position, attitude or tilt, and stability of the ship against the influence of external disturbances that can interfere with the ASV's navigation system. Therefore, this research focuses on the orientation holding control system against external disturbances. To determine the value of the angular shift or tilt of the ship's facing direction using the CMPS14 sensor. The control method used to determine the ship's propulsion response in determining the speed based on the heading error value and the amount of rotation speed through the bow thruster in maintaining the ship's heading using the ANFIS (Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System) Method. The ANFIS model that has been made for predicting the value has an RMSE value of 1.6169% which is then implemented on a microcontroller with conversion and has an accuracy value of 99,6%. In testing the performance of the ship orientation control system by giving 10 variations of disturbance shows an average response time of 5.08 seconds. So that the application of the ANFIS method in this control system has good performance and can be used as a reference for further research.
