The aim of the Conference on Design Manufacture Engineering and Its Application (CDMA) is to provide a scientific platform for researchers, academics, and professionals to share and disseminate original research, innovative ideas, and practical developments in the fields of design engineering, manufacturing technology, and their multidisciplinary applications. CDMA welcomes the submission of theoretical and empirical papers that aim to advance knowledge, challenge conventional practices, and offer new insights into areas such as product design, manufacturing systems, industrial automation, materials engineering, and related domains. Submissions may employ various methodological approaches, including experimental research, modeling and simulation, qualitative studies, and data-driven analysis.

Abstract

Goodway CNC turning machine GCL-2BL number T6 is one of 5 Goodway GCL-2BL CNC turning machines in the machining department of a foundry company. The machine works continuously for 24 hours in three shifts per day. In the production period from March 2022 to February 2023, the machine produced as many as 27 types of products. Machines that work continuously beyond normal limits can reduce machine capabilities, production capacity and speed up the replacement of machine spare parts due to damage that occurs to the machine. Therefore, measuring the effectiveness of the machine needs to be done to find out how the condition of the machines and equipment in the company. The method used to measure machine effectiveness is the Total Effective Equipment Performance (TEEP). In addition to TEEP, this study used FMEA and FTA methods to analyze the factors causing the low level of effectiveness of the machine. Based on the results of the data processing that has been carried out, the TEEP value is 32.43%. This value is still far below the TEEP global standard of 80%. The most influential factor that influenced the low value of TEEP was the availability rate. Based on FMEA and FTA analysis, 21 problems caused low availability rate values and 27 alternative corrective solutions were found to overcome the problems. One of the problems found was leakage of pump oil and turret hydraulic oil. This factor is caused by the long service life and quality of the seal, which is less durable, so an alternative solution to overcome the problem is to replace the seal component with a new one.

Abstract

Industrial competition in the era of globalization causes every company engaged in manufacturing to continue to develop quality to meet customer satisfaction. PT RPC Indonesia is one of the manufacturing companies engaged in the production of fiberglass, especially in piping components. PT. RPC Indonesia implements a make to order and flowshop production system which has a function to increase production capability and production services by focusing on machine utility and accuracy of production completion to match the set time through scheduling methods.Campbell Dudek Smith (CDS) and Nawaz Enscore Han (NEH) methods are the proposed methods in this research. These two methods will be compared with the company's existing method to determine the best and optimal scheduling method by finding the minimum makespan value. The results of this study show that both methods can be used by companies as alternative scheduling models in minimizing total production time. Scheduling with the CDS method produces a makespan of 3834.15 hours and is 1069.34 hours faster than the existing method. Likewise, the NEH method produces a makespan of 3820.63 hours and is 1082.86 hours faster than the existing method. Based on these criteria, the most recommended method for the company is theNawaz Enscore Ham (NEH) method.

Abstract

Bioring Cone Cup products are produced by Sukodono molding industry with injection molding machine. However, at the beginning of production in getting the parameter value still uses a trial and error system, so this problem results in defects that cause the weight of the product is not in accordance with the agreement so that this product must be recycled again by spending a long time. With this problem, the company suffered losses because it had to pay compensation for production delays. Therefore, more study on the effect of optimizing injection molding settings on the net response of bioring cone cup products is required. This research uses the parameters of injection pressure, injection temperature, and cooling time. To identify the impact of various elements as well as the ideal manufacturing process parameters, the Taguchi technique is employed, with the rule that the smaller the signal to noise ratio, the better. From the experimental results, the optimal combination of variables is obtained, namely the injection pressure parameter at level 1 with a value of 80 bar, injection temperature at level 3 with a value of 230? , and cooling time at level 3 with a value of 0.5 seconds

Abstract

PT. United Tractors is a heavy equipment distribution company selling spare parts such as oil filters. The results of the problems being faced by PT. UT cannot meet customers' demand; therefore, an oil filter sales forecasting analysis uses the Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA), Exponential Smoothing (ES), and Trend Moment method. The results of calculations and research carried out after processing data from 2013 to 2022, the slightest error value is obtained in the Exponential Smoothing method with the Double Exponential Smoothing model using a= 0.9. The accuracy values obtained are MAD= 5.021, MSE= 59.674, dan MAPE= 0.086%, when compared to ARIMA, MAD= 8.192, MSE= 131.473, and MAPE= 0.152%, and Trend Moment MAD= 132.447, MSE= 17788.856, and MAPE= 2.261%. So, the chosen method is Exponential Smoothing.

Abstract

The dimensional accuracy of the workpiece might be impacted by geometric variations that machines frequently experience. The geometric shape of the workpiece as a result of the machining process can be used to quantify machine quality and can take the form of cylindricality, smoothness, roundness, and other geometric shapes. The results of the workpiece surface's cylindricality will depend on machining parameters such engine rotation, feed speed, and feed depth. For the design of the research experiment and the data analysis, this study employs the Box Behnken Design in Response Surface Method that is figuring out the trial variation using 3 stages. The specimen used was ST 42 steel, and a DNMG 150404 carbide insert tool was used on a Pinacho L-1/260 conventional lathe to perform a total of 15 experimental modifications on the specimen. Furthermore, the cylindricity test was carried out using a dial indicator. The research results on the effect of parameters on surface cylindricity, namely engine speed with a Pvalue of 0.068, depth of feed with a Pvalue of 0.784, and feed speed with aPvalue of 0.839, the three parameters were declared not to have a significant effect. The engine rotation parameter provides a contribution effect of 26.87%, the depth of feed is 0.52% and the feed speed is 0.28%.

Abstract

A company engaged in metal casting is building a steel casting project. The layout design in the project has several problems, including the utilization of the area is not optimal, does not pay attention to the proximity relationship between facilities so that excessive movement in material handling occurs. This can affect the productivity of the company. This study aims to determine the total distance of material handling movements so that the selected alternative layout will be obtained. The selected layout can increase efficiency by 4.06% in the total distance of material handling movements. The results of the 5S evaluation using the respondent response sheet on the selected layout have a total score of seiri 4.47, seiton score 4.43, seiso score 4.50, seiketsu score 4.20 and shitsuke score 4.30. Overall, the score is 4.38, so based on the Likert scale it can be categorized as very good.

Abstract

The hydrostatic testing process on tube bundle heat exchanger at PT. PAL Indonesia needs a tool called a blind flange. In this research object PT. PAL Indonesia produces 14 tube bundles with five different types. Each tube bundle type requires one pair of blind flanges, which will be placed on the fixed tube sheet, and a floating tube sheet for five pairs of blind flanges. This amount makes it difficult for the company to store and maintain blind flange products. Poor product maintenance will also impact the physical development, product function, and product life. This study aims to design a multi-size blind flange with a more functional design, ease of maintenance, and more economical manufacturing costs. This study refers to the flange design standards: ASME Section VIII Division 1 and the finite element method. The new concept produces static stress analysis, which has a safe value with a safety factor value of 3.868 and a von Misses stress of 115.2 MPa for fixed tube sheets. Meanwhile, the floating tube sheet produces a safety factor value of 3.676 and a von Misses stress of 122.4 MPa. The new concept costs Rp.488,510,757, which saves 17.18% of the cost of the existing product.

Abstract

UT Surabaya has a warehouse for storing spare parts needed either during heavy equipment maintenance work or customer demand in purchasing spare parts. This warehouse still does not maximize the existing capacity, seen from the many spare parts that are not arranged. This is due to the lack of shelf storage capacity due to the demand for many spare parts. In addition, the placement of spare parts that are not organized according to their group creates one of the problems, namely oil leaks that hit other spare parts. Seeing these problems, it is necessary to design a warehouse rack supported using the Ulrich Method by making three design concepts for selecting the most appropriate concept and in accordance with warehouse needs. Making design and structural strength analysis using Fusion 360 Software based on Finite Element Methods. The selected concept is design concept 2 with structural strength analysis of the rack frame obtained the results of allowable deformation of 1.37 mm for manual calculation and software displacement analysis obtained the maximum value that occurs 0.3670 mm with ASTM A36 material deformation allowance of 23.87 mm. The maximum stress value of 45.82 MPa in software analysis and 45.64 Mpa in manual calculations with ASTM A36 material allowable stress limit of 166.667 MPa. Then the maximum safety factor value of 5 is obtained, which means the machine frame is safe to use. total

Abstract

This research reviews the planning and implementation of alternative fuel facilities at PT. Semen Gresik Rembang Factory, with a focus on storage and transportation efficiency of alternative fuels using the cycle time calculation method. This new facility is designed to increase the efficiency and smoothness of the cement production process, especially in the use of Alternative Fuel and Raw Material (AFR). By applying cycle time calculations, the time required to transport product waste from storage to the apron belt feeder with a dump truck can be determined more precisely. The results of the research show that the time required to use product waste in storage is 12 days, with a total cycle time from storage to apron of 16.68 minutes (0.3 hours) and requires 2 dump trucks to meet the needs of the apron belt feeder in one shift. The implementation of this method is expected to expedite the production process and increase operational efficiency at the Semen Gresik Plant Rembang Factory.

Abstract

Proyek Docking Repair KT. Anggada XV mengalami keterlambatan, sehingga kapal terhambat tidak bisa berlayar sesuai dengan yang sudah dijadwalkan. Maka waktu menjadi variabel penting yang digunakan sebagai parameter utama dalam penyelesaian proyek Docking Repair. Tujuan dari Tugas Akhir ini yaitu melakukan analisis penjadwalan terhadap keterlambatan proyek Docking Repair KT. Anggada XV dengan status intermediate survey. Dengan demikian diperlukan upaya penjadwalan durasi proyek untuk mengembalikan tingkat kemajuan proyek ke rencana awal. Perencanaan penjadwalan proyek dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode PERT (Project Evaluation Review Technique) dan FLASH (Fuzzy Logic Application for Schedulling). Proyek Docking Repair KT. Anggada memiliki 8 pekerjaan yang berada pada jalur kritis proyek yaitu tes ketebalan plat (UT), penggantian plat, pemeliharaan jangkar, rantai, dan windlash, bongkar pasang propeller, polish propeller, tambal bolangbaling, balansir propeller, dan test keretakan propeller. Hasil dari perhitungan penjadwalan proyek menggunakan metode PERT didapatkan nilai rata-rata penyelesaian proyek selama 25.165 hari dengan nilai probabilitas 93,57%, sedangkan metode FLASH didapatkan nilai durasi minimal selama 25.25 hari dan durasi maksimal selama 26.45 hari. Berdasarkan perhitungan, waktu penyelesaian proyek dengan metode FLASH lebih baik digunakan dikarenakan hasil dari perhitungannya berupa interval waktu Dmin dan Dmax berbeda dengan metode PERT yang hasil perhitungannya hanya didapatkan waktu penyelesaian yang sudah pasti.
