Abstract

This study explores how Islamic Religious Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam / PAI) teachers integrate artificial intelligence (AI) tools into their pedagogy, and identifies the opportunities and challenges that arise. Using a descriptive qualitative design, data were collected through semi-structured online interviews with five PAI teachers at SMA Negeri 4 Bengkulu, Indonesia, all of whom had prior experience using AI-based applications in lesson planning or teaching. Thematic analysis revealed that AI is primarily used in “back-end” domains of instruction: generating lesson outlines, designing assessment items, and developing presentation media, with more limited and carefully supervised use in student-facing activities. Teachers reported clear benefits, including increased efficiency in preparing materials, more varied explanations and examples of Islamic concepts, and simple forms of differentiation for students with different levels of readiness. However, they also expressed strong concerns about the theological accuracy of AI-generated content, the risk of plagiarism and student over-reliance, unequal access to devices and internet, and the potential erosion of the teacher’s role as murabbi and moral model. Overall, the findings suggest that AI in Islamic pedagogy is best positioned as a supportive tool, filtered through Islamic sources and teacher judgment, to strengthen rather than weaken the core aims of PAI.

Abstract

Dengue fever (DHF) is still a public health problem in many parts of Indonesia, including Kurung Village, Kejayan Subdistrict, Pasuruan District. The low awareness of residents towards environment-based prevention behavior is one of the factors for the high risk of transmission. This activity aims to increase knowledge, establish clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS), and build a community-based dengue prevention system through education and community empowerment. Through participatory and educative methods, this activity resulted in increased community knowledge, changes in 3M Plus behavior, and the implementation of routine PSN at the RT level. The program also strengthens collaboration between the community, village government, and Puskesmas. Theoretically, this activity supports the community empowerment approach, the Health Belief Model, and the socioecological model, and has proven effective for replication in other areas.

Abstract

Education in Indonesia encompasses all forms of education provided in Indonesia, both structured and unstructured. Education in Indonesia is divided into three main pathways: formal, non-formal, and informal. Education is also divided into four levels: early childhood, elementary, secondary, and higher education. Education is currently the foundation for the nation's development. Students, as the golden generation, are prepared for the future. Educators are the key to producing Indonesia's golden generation. Given that Indonesia has been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic in recent months, policymakers need to consider this when evaluating education in the new normal era. The purpose of this tutoring program is to optimize education in the regions during the new normal era. The method used is interactive learning between teachers and students, utilizing modules as learning resources and teacher guides. The program has resulted in several village children, from kindergarten to elementary school, receiving tutoring on school material they haven't yet mastered, particularly mathematics, English, and science. In this new normal era, it is important to hold tutoring programs for children because the learning time provided by schools is limited due to the ongoing pandemic.

Abstract

Mosques hold transformative potential as centers of community economic development in Muslim-majority societies, yet the management of Ziswaf — comprising Zakat, Infaq, Sadaqah, and Waqf — in many mosque institutions remains constrained by manual recording systems, limited transparency, and weak accountability mechanisms. This community service program, conducted in 2025 across two cross-national locations — Songkhla, Southern Thailand, and Kedah, Malaysia — aimed to facilitate the digital transformation of Ziswaf management practices in selected mosque institutions through structured training, system introduction, and ongoing mentoring. A total of 62 mosque administrators, committee members, and community leaders participated across both sites. The program introduced participants to accessible digital tools including spreadsheet-based financial recording systems, WhatsApp-based donor communication channels, and basic social media reporting practices. Post-program assessments demonstrated measurable improvements in administrative efficiency, collection transparency, and community trust in mosque financial management. Several participating mosques successfully transitioned from purely manual to hybrid digital recording systems by the program's conclusion. This article reports on the program methodology, outcomes, implementation challenges, and implications for the sustainability of mosque-based economic empowerment programs in transnational Muslim communities.

Abstract

This article reports on a community service program (Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat) conducted in Pattani and Narathiwat, Southern Thailand, in collaboration with Fatoni University, targeting Muslimah entrepreneurs and home-based food producers. The program addressed two critical gaps in the local small business ecosystem: the absence of systematic understanding of halal product certification and labeling standards, and limited capacity in digital marketing. Through a series of structured workshops, practical mentoring sessions, and hands-on training activities conducted across 2024, a total of 48 women entrepreneurs participated in learning activities covering halal product standardization, brand identity development, and social media marketing through platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook. Pre- and post-program assessments demonstrated a measurable increase in participants' comprehension of halal certification procedures, with 78% of participants reporting improved confidence in marketing their products digitally. Several participants successfully redesigned product packaging to comply with halal labeling guidelines and launched active social media business accounts during the program period. This article discusses the program methodology, outcomes, challenges encountered, and recommendations for scaling similar initiatives across Muslim-majority communities in the region.

Abstract

Indonesian migrant workers (Pekerja Migran Indonesia/PMI) are economically significant contributors to household welfare and national remittance flows, yet many remain exposed to weak financial planning, informal borrowing, and limited access to appropriate financial services. This community service program, implemented in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, Malaysia, in collaboration with the Overseas Branch of Muhammadiyah Malaysia (PCIM Malaysia), aimed to strengthen Sharia-based financial literacy and practical household financial management among PMI communities. The program involved 87 Indonesian migrant workers through structured workshops, budgeting exercises, product-orientation sessions, and peer mentoring. Evaluation was conducted using pre- and post-program knowledge tests, follow-up budgeting checklists, attendance records, and focus group discussions. The mean financial literacy score increased from 51.3 to 76.8 out of 100, while the proportion of participants maintaining a written household budget increased from 23% at baseline to 71% at the eight-week follow-up. Participants also reported stronger awareness of riba, zakat, infaq, halal savings instruments, and Sharia-compliant alternatives to informal borrowing. These findings indicate that culturally grounded, faith-sensitive, and practice-oriented financial education can improve both knowledge and applied financial behaviour among migrant worker communities. The program offers a replicable model for diaspora-based community empowerment through mosque, community, and Muhammadiyah networks.

Abstract

Basic education plays a crucial role in developing students' cognitive abilities and motivation to learn, yet students in rural areas still face limited resources and learning support. This community service initiative aims to improve the learning outcomes and motivation of elementary school students through a community-based tutoring program in Mangkung Village, Central Lombok Regency. The implementation method employed a participatory and collaborative approach with a one-month offline learning program involving 19 elementary school students. Evaluation was conducted through pre-tests and post-tests, as well as observations of learning behavior. The results showed an increase in students' average grades from 61.3 to 78.5, high attendance (90-100%), and positive changes in student engagement, discipline, and self-confidence. These results demonstrate that community-based tutoring is effective in improving students' cognitive and affective aspects.

Abstract

Early marriage remains a serious social issue in Indonesia, particularly in rural areas. This community service activity aimed to raise awareness and improve adolescents’ understanding of the dangers of child marriage through an interactive socialization program at SMKN 1 Praya Barat, Central Lombok Regency. The implementation consisted of three main stages: preparation (developing materials and instruments), execution (educational sessions with visual media, discussions, and Q&A), and evaluation (through pre-test and post-test). The results showed a significant 22.8% increase in students’ understanding, especially regarding legal aspects, reproductive health, and the socio-economic impacts of early marriage. About 71% of students expressed a commitment to delay marriage until completing senior high school, while 82% of female students demonstrated better awareness of reproductive health planning. This activity effectively fostered legal, social, and moral awareness among adolescents and encouraged school and community participation in preventing early marriage practices.
