Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji penggunaan makna konotatif dan denotatif dalam cerpen “Sekolah Kebenaran” karya Asma Nadia. Cerpen tersebut dipilih karena memiliki penggunaan diksi yang beragam dan kaya makna sehingga mampu menghadirkan makna tersurat maupun tersirat. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan makna konotatif dan makna denotatif yang menyertai makna konotatif dalam satu kalimat pada cerpen tersebut. Penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan sumber data berupa kalimat-kalimat dalam cerpen “Sekolah Kebenaran”. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui metode simak dengan teknik catat, sedangkan analisis data menggunakan metode padan dengan teknik pilah unsur penentu (PUP). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan terdapat 12 data makna konotatif yang terbagi menjadi konotasi baik, tidak baik, dan netral. Konotasi baik ditunjukkan melalui penggunaan diksi yang puitis ekspresif, santai, dan komunikatif, sedangkan konotasi tidak baik menghadirkan kesan negatif dan berlebihan dalam penggambaran cerita. Konotasi netral menunjukkan penggunaan bahasa formal dalam konteks pendidikan. Selain itu, ditemukan 12 data makna denotatif yang menyertai makna konotatif dalam satu kalimat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, penggunaan makna konotatif dan denotatif menunjukkan variasi makna bahasa dalam penyampaian narasi. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi dalam kajian semantik pada karya sastra.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe the speech act strategies employed by YouTube tech reviewers to influence viewers' perceptions and purchasing decisions. The research focuses on the classification of illocutionary acts—specifically assertive, directive, and expressive acts. A qualitative descriptive method with a pragmatic approach was utilized. Data were collected from thirteen gadget review videos randomly selected from ten Indonesian YouTube channels: GadgetIn, Jagat Review, Nerd Reviews, Sobat HAPE, Putu Reza, Dhiarcom, K2Gadgets, Bestindotech, DK ID, and BangRipiu. Data collection employed the "listen and note" method, while the pragmatic identity method was used for analysis. The results indicate that assertive speech acts are the most frequently used strategy to build viewer trust. Objective information is conveyed through expressive speech acts to create a positive impression and foster purchase recommendations. The study concludes that the effectiveness of persuasive content in tech reviews depends on the objectivity of the information, evaluations, and advice provided to the audience.

Abstract

Abstract: The research entitled “Types and Causes of Semantic Change in the Dialogues of the Si Juki Comic and Its Implementation as Teaching Material for Anecdotal Texts for Grade X Senior High School” is motivated by semantic changes that occur in words. The meaning of a word is not fixed but may change in its use. These semantic changes can be influenced by society as language users. This demonstrates that language has a close relationship with the social life of society. The data source used in this research is the Webtoon Si Juki entitled Si Juki Lika-Liku Anak Kos. This research aims to describe the types and causes of semantic changes in the Webtoon. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with the data consisting of words or phrases. This research uses the Pilah Unsur Penentu (PUP) technique and the advanced technique, namely the Hubung Banding Memperbedakan (HBB) technique. The results of this research show that the comic Si Juki Lika-Liku Anak Kos by Faza Ibnu Ubaidillah contains the types of semantic change known as widening, narrowing, amelioration, and pejoration. The causes of semantic change found in this research include semantic change due to the environment, the exchange of sensory responses, word combinations, and association. The results of this research are implemented in teaching material in the form of a handout on the linguistic features of anecdotal texts. The researcher hopes that future studies will conduct more in-depth analyses of other Webtoons using semantic studies, particularly semantic change, so that research on semantic change in Indonesia can become broader and more diverse. Abstract

This research is motivated by the rising popularity of Podcasts as a medium of communication that showcases diverse speaking styles of public figures, including in the program “Login – Jafar – Onad” on Deddy Corbuzier’s YouTube channel. In this context, the study of conversational implicature becomes essential to understand the implied meanings within interactions that appear casual yet carry strong social and religious messages. This study aims to describe the forms, meanings, and functions of conversational implicatures found in the dialogues between the hosts and guests on the Podcast. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a pragmatic approach. A total of 26 utterances were analyzed and classified based on the speech act theory of Searle and Yule. The findings reveal four main functions of conversational implicature: representative (7 data) to convey assertions and descriptions; commissive (6 data) showing refusals; directive (3 data) consisting of commands; and expressive (10 data) expressing sarcasm, and praise.
