Abstract

One form of the culture is regional songs that are formed as a result of the social life of the local community. One of them is the tembang dolanan used to accompany certain games whose existence has diminished. This dolanan song consists of many lyrics that contain reduplication with a specific purpose such as affirming something. This study aims to describe the meaning and reduplication that found in the lyrics of the songs of Menthog-Menthog, Gajah-Gajah, Jaranan, Kancil, and Ula Sawah. This research method is qualitative using the method of collecting data by observing advanced note-taking techniques. The results of this study indicate that there are five reduplications in the five tembang dolanan, i.e., tembung dwilingga padha swara, tembung dwilingga salin swara, dwilingga semu, the dwipurwa tower, and tembung dwiwasana. Then the meaning of reduplication in the dolanan song found several meanings, i.e., many, repetitive activities, affirmations, and meaningless because it includes pseudo reduplication.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in phoneme sounds between Sundanese and Indonesian. Phonemes are the smallest units of sound. This study aims to explain and show examples of vocabulary in Sundanese and Indonesian that have the same meaning, but different phonemes. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method comparing Sundanese and Indonesian phonemes. The results show that there are 7 vowel phonemes in Sundanese, while in Indonesian there are 5. There are 18 consonant phonemes in Sundanese, while in Indonesian there are 21. This is due to the existence of several special phonemes in the way of writing, pronunciation, or how phonemes are used in Indonesian and Sundanese. With this study, it is hoped that it can provide data that shows the differences in phoneme sounds in Indonesian and Sundanese.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of the Sundanese language by the Millennial Generation and Generation Z on the TikTok application, particularly in the form of code-mixing in everyday conversations; to identify patterns of phonological changes that emerge in words adapted from Indonesian and English into Sundanese; and to distinguish the characteristic features of language use across generations. The research employs a qualitative method, with data collected from several sentences quoted from TikTok videos uploaded by selected accounts, namely @susylawaty_, @susybarokahkammal, and @anisasitiaisyah883 as representatives of the Millennial Generation, and @elsanuraisyah09, @indahcantiii01, and @astridjuwitaaa as representatives of Generation Z. The findings indicate that the Millennial Generation tends to use Sundanese while largely maintaining traditional sentence structures, despite the presence of some loanwords. In contrast, Generation Z demonstrates a more flexible and expressive use of Sundanese, characterized by dominant code-mixing, frequent use of global terms, and more liberal phonological adaptations. These findings suggest that the use of the Sundanese language among contemporary generations continues to evolve through speakers’ creativity and is strongly influenced by the digital culture that flourishes on social media platforms.

Abstract

This study analyzes illocutionary speech acts in the film Sujud Terakhir Bapak by Reka Wijaya, which are utterances with specific purposes and meanings. This study aims to describe the forms and impacts of these illocutionary speech acts. Using a qualitative descriptive method and a pragmatic approach, primary data were taken directly from the film, while secondary data came from relevant books and journals. The data collection techniques used were free listening and note-taking techniques, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. John Searle’s speech act theory was used as a basis. Of the total 95 speech data, 92 data were found to be forms of illocutionary speech acts, consisting of 30 assertive data, 28 directive data, 18 expressive data, 5 commissive data, and 7 declarative data. Meanwhile, 3 speech data showed illocutionary impacts in the form of conflict, emotional shock, and spontaneous and surprised reactions. This study concluded that the film is rich in all five forms of illocutionary speech acts that cause various impacts. It is hoped that future researchers will be more careful in understanding the theory when analyzing illocutionary speech acts.
