Abstract

It is important to develop a study of local wisdom. This is related to the development of religious tourism villages where each region has its own characteristics in creating policies for its region. In Ngadi Village, Mojo Subdistrict, Kediri Regency, there is a central figure who even though he has passed away, his advice is still carried out by the local community and even people outside the region, either as written in his essay or conveyed verbally when he is still alive. The figure referred to as waliyulloh is none other than Kiyai Hamim Tohari Djazuli or better known as Gus Miek. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach with the researcher as an instrument. The concepts of tawhid used in this study include: a) mahabbah, b) tawaduk, and c) tawakal. The results and discussion show that: mahabbah or Gus Miek’s divine love can be seen from the nature that is owned by the term jadzab, in the Javanese language gandrung, the madness of his love for the servant of Allah. The tawaduk owned by Gus Miek can be seen from his simple nature in his behavior even though he is the son of a great kiyai and the founder of the Islamic boarding school. Gus Miek’s tawakal can be seen from his submissive behavior to Allah’s will that happens to him and his family.

Abstract

Literary work is one of the interesting object to study. One of the popular literary works is novel. This study aims to describe the realization of religious values contained in the novel Kembara Rindu written by El-Shirazy. The method used in the study is descriptive qualitative, designed as literature review. The data are in the form of sentence or paragraph, taken from the object under study. Data collection is done by reading the object carefully and connected to the problem being analyzed. This study uses several stages of data processing techniques, starting from classification, analysis, evaluation, and conclusion step. Based on the research, the novel Kembara Rindu describes the values of religiosity through the form of: (i) the relationship between humans and God, (ii) the relationship between humans and humans, and (iii) the relationship between humans andthemselves.

Abstract

Persuasive language is a sentence that aims to invite and influence someone to follow what they want. The purpose of this study was to explain the use of persuasive language through rationalization, suggestion and conformity technique within cosmetic advertisements on television. The research is designed as descriptive qualitative, specifically discourse analysis. To analyze data, the researcher classified the types of persuasive language based on the Keraf ’s classification (2007), including rationalization, suggestion, and conformity techniques. A total of 51 cosmetics advertisement were chosen. The result of study showed that a number of techniques were clearly used in cosmetics advertisements in TV. Firstly, rationalization technique used in 17 cosmetic advertisements marked by the number of products, benefits, ingredients, and result obtained after using these cosmetic products. Secondly, suggestion technique used in 22 cosmetic advertisements, marked by showing the advantages of using the cosmetic products. Lastly, conformity technique used in 12 cosmetic advertisements which marked by the use of national artists or public figures.

Abstract

Research on politeness discusses the use or application of language (language use) in a particular language community. Speech society is defined as people who have various backgrounds in the social and cultural conditions that surround them. This study discusses politeness in terms of the meaning and function of speech. The purpose of this research is to describe the form of wisdom maxims, suitability maxims, and conclusions maxims found in the comments column on the Facebook group in the “Info Cegatan Wilayah Ponorogo”. This type of research was using descriptive data with qualitative approach. Descriptive data in this study were in the form of written words in the comments column collected from the field, based on existing facts. The results of the analysis conducted by the researcher, there were three types of maxims, namely tact maxims, agreement maxims, and approbation maxims.

Abstract

In communicating, the speaker better uses polite language, because it will maintain speaker’s dignity and respects the hearer. Further, it can create smooth and pleasant communication. The purpose of this study is to find a forms of language politeness and their meaning in conversations among eight semester students of STKIP PGRI Ponorogo in 2019. This research is a descriptive research that uses a qualitative approach. The data collection method used in this study is the observation method. In this study, each speech is analyzed based on the theory of politeness from Leech (in Rahardi, 2005: 59) as follows: tact maxim, generosity maxim, approbation maxim, modesty maxim, agreement maxim, and sympathy maxim. As a result, the researcher found nine tact maxims, two tact maxim violations, one approbation maxim, two sympathy maxims, one sympathy maxim violation, two generosity maxims, nine consensus maxims, and three modesty maxims.

Abstract

Literary works are essentially the writers’ embodiment of the realities of life around them. Tanah Surga Merah novel by Arafat Nur tells the story of the character Murad, who sets foot on the land of Aceh after his escape. There are a lot of stories that Murad experienced while in his homeland. The purpose of this research is to describe the image contained in the Tanah Surga Merah novel and its function. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitive method. Data collection techniques in this study using reading notes technique. The researcher found five types of images contained in the Tanah Surga Merah novel, as follows: visual images, hearing, touch, motion and smell. They functions as a means of descending character, setting, plot and theme in the novel. This research needs to be refined to get more detailed results. For further research can add image elements that come from other theories or combine several theories related to statistical research.

Abstract

Lampuki novel is a literary work that describes Aceh at the time after the fall of President Soeharto. It contains social aspects such as education, economy and religion. This study aims to describe the socio-educational, economic, and religious aspects of Arafat Nur>s novel Lampuki (2019) by using the sociological theory of literature as a tool of analysis. The research method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method using the library technique, observe and take notes. The technique used in this study is a qualitative technique, while to analyze the data the researcher used genetic dialectic method. The results of the analysis show that the social aspects in Lampuki>s novel are socio-educational, economic, and religious aspects. The education aspect describes the existence of education at school, at home, and outside of home. The socio-economic aspect illustrates the difficulty of the community in getting income and employment. The social aspect of religion discusses the relationship between the individual and God, and the individual and society.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of patriarchal culture and analyze the life of Firdaus figures in the middle of patriarchal culture. The theory used in this study is feminist literary theory. This qualitative research draws data sources from the novel Perempuan di Titik Nol by Nawal El Saadawi with library study techniques and analyzed by recording data, classifying data, analyzing based on feminism theory, presenting the results of analysis and drawing conclusions. The results of this study showed the representation of patriarchal cultural forms that are divided into domestic patriarchy and public patriarchy as well as data analysis based on the forms of patriarchal systems.

Abstract

Language is used by human to communicate and interact each other.Due to the importance of language use in society, pragmatics become an important analysis part One of the studies in pragmatics discusses about the language politeness. This research focused on the principle of language politeness using Geoffrey Leech’s theory, six maxims, namely the tact maxim generosity maxim, Approbation Maxim, Modesty maxim, Agreemen maxim, Sympaty maxim. This study aimed to describe the strategy of language politeness in the film Assalamualaikum Calon Imam. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative. This study decribed the principles of politeness in films. The object of study in this research was film. The data used in this study were the utterances of the main and supporting characters in the film. The research results that the six maxims were spoken by the main character and the supporting character. The conclusion of this research was that the film players obey the politeness strategy in the form of maxims. There are six maxims obeyed in the speech, namely maxim generosity maxim, Approbation Maxim, Modesty maxim, Agreemen maxim, Sympaty maxim.

Abstract

Literature is a work that built by the author based on his/her social sensitivity of environment. This makes literature has various perspectives. One of them is inserting the ideological element in the structure of literary works. The transfer of ideology through hegemony makes people different from one and another. Likewise, in the novel LautBercerita by Chudori, which tells the story of a life conflict realized in ideological differences. The purpose of this research is to describe the ideology of authoritarianism and democratic contained in the novel LautBercerita. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative, designed as literature review. The theory of Salamini on ideology was used to analyze the findings. The result of study showed that the novel depicted the ideology of authoritarianism and democratic which covered: i) elements of consciousness, ii) material elements, iii) elements of solidarity-identity and iv) elements of freedom.
