Abstract

Abstract: Determining population and sample is one of the fundamental stages in quantitative research that directly influences the quality of statistical analysis, the strength of generalization, and the validity of research conclusions. However, undergraduate students often experience difficulties in defining the population appropriately, selecting suitable sampling techniques, and determining adequate sample sizes based on the chosen research design and statistical analysis. Existing guides, however, generally discuss population, sampling techniques, and sample size separately, and therefore have not provided a practical framework linking sampling decisions to the type of quantitative research and the statistical analysis commonly used in undergraduate theses. This article aims to provide a conceptual and practical guide to population, sample, sampling techniques, and sample size determination for undergraduate quantitative research through a narrative literature review of research methodology textbooks, sampling-related journal articles, and statistical references. The discussion covers the basic concepts of population and sample, the distinction between target population and accessible population, an overview of probability and non-probability sampling techniques, and practical guidelines for minimum sample sizes based on survey, comparative, and experimental research designs along with their associated statistical analyses. In addition, the article discusses practical and ethical considerations in sampling procedures and presents a sampling technique selection flowchart to assist students in choosing appropriate sampling approaches according to their research conditions. The main result of this synthesis is a conceptual mapping of population, sampling techniques, minimum sample sizes, and a sampling-technique selection pathway tailored to undergraduate thesis conditions. This article is expected to help undergraduate students design quantitative research that is more systematic, realistic, and methodologically sound, particularly in determining populations, sampling techniques, and sample sizes that align with research objectives and field constraints. Abstrak: Penentuan populasi dan sampel merupakan salah satu tahap mendasar dalam penelitian kuantitatif yang secara langsung mempengaruhi kualitas analisis statistik, kekuatan generalisasi temuan, dan validitas kesimpulan penelitian. Namun demikian, mahasiswa S1 sering mengalami kesulitan dalam mendefinisikan populasi secara tepat, memilih teknik sampling yang sesuai, dan menentukan ukuran sampel yang memadai berdasarkan jenis penelitian dan analisis yang digunakan. Namun, panduan yang tersedia umumnya membahas populasi, teknik sampling, dan ukuran sampel secara terpisah, sehingga belum memberikan kerangka praktis yang menghubungkan keputusan sampling dengan jenis penelitian kuantitatif dan teknik analisis statistik yang lazim digunakan dalam skripsi S1. Artikel ini bertujuan memberikan panduan konseptual dan praktis tentang populasi, sampel, teknik sampling, dan ukuran sampel untuk skripsi S1 pada penelitian kuantitatif melalui kajian literatur naratif terhadap buku metodologi penelitian, artikel sampling, dan referensi statistik. Pembahasan mencakup konsep dasar populasi dan sampel, perbedaan populasi target dan populasi terjangkau, gambaran umum probability sampling dan non-probability sampling, serta panduan ukuran sampel minimum yang dikaitkan secara langsung dengan penelitian survei, komparatif, dan eksperimen beserta pilihan analisis statistiknya. Selain itu, artikel ini juga membahas pertimbangan praktis dan etis dalam pengambilan sampel serta menyajikan diagram alur pemilihan teknik sampling untuk membantu mahasiswa menentukan pendekatan sampling yang sesuai dengan kondisi penelitian mereka. Hasil utama sintesis ini berupa pemetaan konsep populasi, teknik sampling, ukuran sampel minimum, dan alur pemilihan teknik sampling yang disesuaikan dengan kondisi skripsi S1. Artikel ini diharapkan dapat membantu mahasiswa merancang penelitian kuantitatif yang lebih sistematis, realistis, dan metodologis, khususnya dalam menentukan populasi, teknik sampling, dan ukuran sampel yang sesuai dengan tujuan penelitian dan keterbatasan lapangan.

Abstract

Abstract: The main problem in this research is the continued prevalence of bullying behavior in primary school environments, which has a negative impact on students' mental health. This research aims to (1) identify the forms of bullying that occur in the environment of SD Negeri 1 Kalijaga Timur, (2) analyze the impact of bullying on the mental health of students at SD Negeri 1 Kalijaga Timur, and (3) explain the school's efforts in preventing and overcoming bullying at SD Negeri 1 Kalijaga Timur. This research method used a qualitative approach. The data sourced for this research were the school principal, classroom teachers, and students. Data collection techniques thru observation, interviews, and documentation. Data validity tested using triangulation or data checking, specifically source triangulation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research findings indicate that bullying causes psychological disorders such as impaired social functioning, anxiety, and decreased self-esteem and learning motivation among students. The causes of bullying stem from both the internal enviroment of the family and external social factors such astaghfirullah social media and a lack of character education. The crucial role of schools in creating a safe atmosphere thru strengthening character education, providing emotional support, and training teachers is a key factor in tackling bullying fostering healthy learning enviroment, and supporting children's overall development. Abstrak: Masalah utama dalam penelitian ini adalah masih sering terjadinya perilaku bullying di lingkungan sekolah dasar yang berdampak negatif terhadap kesehatan mental peserta didik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengidentifikasi bentuk bullying yang terjadi di lingkungan SD Negeri 1 Kalijaga Timur, (2) menganalisis dampak bullying terhadap kesehatan mental peserta didik di SD Negeri 1 Kalijaga Timur, (3) menjelaskan upaya sekolah dalam mencegah dan mengatasi bullying di SD Negeri 1 Kalijaga Timur. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Sumber data dari penelitian yaitu kepala sekolah, guru kelas, dan siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Uji keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi atau pengecekan data yaitu triangulasi sumber. Analisis data mengunakan model Miles and Huberman yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bullying menyebabkan gangguan psikologis seperti gangguan dalam fungsi sosial, kecemasan, serta menurunnya rasa percaya diri dan motivasi belajar peserta didik. Faktor penyebab bullying berasal dari internal lingkungan keluarga maupun eksternal sosial seperti media sosial dan kurangnya pendidikan karakter. Pentingnya peran sekolah dalam menciptakan suasana aman melalui penguatan pendidikan karakter, pendampingan emosional, serta pelatihan guru menjadi faktor kunci dalam menanggulangi bullying demi terciptanya lingkungan belajar yang sehat dan mendukung perkembangan anak secara menyeluruh.

Abstract

Abstract: Community empowerment is a strategic approach for strengthening rural capacity, local economic independence, and sustainable tourism governance. This study aims to describe community empowerment through the development of Dayun Tourism Village in Dayun District, Siak Regency, Riau Province. The study employed a qualitative descriptive design. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and interviews with two key informants and one supporting informant representing the village apparatus, tourism village manager, and local entrepreneur. The analysis focused on four empowerment dimensions: social, economic, cultural, and environmental. The findings show that the development of Dayun Tourism Village has encouraged community participation through Tourism Awareness Group activities, tourism-service training, local business initiatives, and the use of the integrated reservoir as an educational and recreational attraction. Economically, the program has created opportunities for micro-enterprises, local food processing, homestays, guiding services, and creative products such as watermelon-themed batik and processed watermelon products. Culturally, tourism development has strengthened the visibility of Malay arts, local hospitality, and village identity. Environmentally, the program has promoted public awareness of cleanliness, water-resource management, and conservation-oriented use of village assets. The study concludes that tourism village development can serve as an effective empowerment strategy when the community is positioned not only as beneficiaries but also as active actors in planning, management, and evaluation. Abstrak: Pemberdayaan masyarakat merupakan pendekatan strategis untuk memperkuat kapasitas warga, kemandirian ekonomi lokal, dan tata kelola pariwisata berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui pengembangan Desa Wisata Dayun di Kecamatan Dayun, Kabupaten Siak, Provinsi Riau. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, dokumentasi, dan wawancara terhadap dua informan inti serta satu informan pendukung yang mewakili perangkat desa, pengelola desa wisata, dan pelaku usaha. Analisis diarahkan pada empat dimensi pemberdayaan, yaitu dimensi sosial, ekonomi, budaya, dan lingkungan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengembangan Desa Wisata Dayun mendorong partisipasi masyarakat melalui kegiatan Kelompok Sadar Wisata, pelatihan layanan wisata, pengembangan usaha lokal, dan pemanfaatan embung terpadu sebagai daya tarik edukatif dan rekreatif. Pada dimensi ekonomi, program ini membuka peluang bagi usaha mikro, pengolahan produk lokal, homestay, jasa pemandu, dan produk kreatif seperti batik bermotif semangka serta olahan semangka. Pada dimensi budaya, pengembangan wisata memperkuat visibilitas seni Melayu, keramahan lokal, dan identitas desa. Pada dimensi lingkungan, program ini mendorong kesadaran kebersihan, pengelolaan sumber daya air, dan pemanfaatan aset desa secara konservatif. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa desa wisata dapat menjadi strategi pemberdayaan yang efektif apabila masyarakat ditempatkan sebagai aktor aktif dalam perencanaan, pengelolaan, dan evaluasi.
