JELLI : Journal of Education For The Language And Literature of Indonesia, is a peer-reviewed journal published two times a year since 2023. Articles in this journal should be written in Indonesian and English. This Journal focus on the issues of Indonesian language education. All submitted papers are put trough double-blind review process. The journal accepts both research and non-research articles, which will be peerreviewed by at least 2 (two) reviewers. Once a manuscript is submitted trough the online process, a journal editor examines the manuscript and determines its appropriateness for the full peer review. If it passes the initial screening, the manuscript will be sent to one or more peer reviewers. The journal’s editorial board will then consider the peer reviewers’ reports and assemble the final decision to accept or reject the manuscript for publication.

Abstract

This article analyzes the application of religious tolerance values in the short story “Seribu Kunang-Kunang di Manhattan” by Umar Kayam and its relevance to strengthening the profile of Rahmatan Lil Alamin students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah. This study makes a significant contribution to the use of literary works as a means of learning about tolerance values in formal education. It employs a qualitative approach, utilizing text analysis and literature study methods to examine the moral messages contained in the short story. The results of the analysis show that this short story effectively depicts harmonious relationships between individuals from different religious backgrounds. Values such as respect for diversity, respect for other beliefs, and the importance of interfaith cooperation are essential elements that can be implemented in the curriculum at Madrasah Tsanawiyah. Integrating these values into the curriculum encourages students to understand and respect differences while developing moderate, inclusive, and tolerant personal characters.

Abstract

Fenomena campur kode merupakan gejala kebahasaan yang umum terjadi dalam masyarakat multibahasa dan kini banyak ditemukan dalam media hiburan, termasuk lirik lagu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bentuk dan jenis campur kode, fungsi sosial dan makna budaya, serta faktor penyebab terjadinya campur kode dalam lirik lagu “Nyong dari Timur” karya Wita Sofi dan Juan Reza. Lagu ini menarik karena memadukan tiga bahasa, yaitu bahasa Indonesia, Minang, dan bahasa dari kawasan Timur Indonesia (seperti dialek Ambon atau Papua), sehingga mencerminkan keragaman dan interaksi antarbudaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan metode baca dan catat. Data dianalisis dengan teknik reduksi, klasifikasi, dan interpretasi berdasarkan teori sosiolinguistik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa campur kode dalam lirik lagu ini terdiri atas lima bentuk, yakni penyisipan unsur kata, frasa, klausa, idiom, dan reduplikasi. Setiap bentuk mencerminkan identitas kultural tokoh dalam lagu, memperkuat emosi, dan menjadi media komunikasi antar daerah. Faktor penyebab terjadinya campur kode meliputi latar belakang budaya penulis lagu, strategi ekspresif dan estetis dalam penciptaan karya, serta adanya kebebasan berbahasa dalam konteks nonformal. Kesimpulannya, campur kode dalam lagu ini tidak hanya memperindah estetika lirik, tetapi juga berfungsi sebagai representasi identitas, alat pemersatu budaya, dan refleksi dinamika sosial masyarakat Indonesia yang multikultural.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui keberhasilan menyimak terhadap mahasiswa jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia Universitas Siliwangi angkatan 2024 kelas C. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode kualitatif dan pengumpulan sampel data yang dilakukan secara langsung dan dibantu dengan aplikasi quiziz untuk memudahkan dalam bahan evaluasi yang melibatkan mahasiswa jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia Universitas Siliwangi sebagai subjek penelitian angkatan 2024 kelas C. Pembelajaran menyimak biasanya lei maksimal apabila menggunakan model pembelajaran yang berbasis audio atau audio visual. Adapun materi yang disajikan sebagai bahan simakan terhadap mahasiswa jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia angkatan 2024 kelas C yakni video teks deskripsi tentang nasi cikur. Data yang telah di dapatkan kemudian diolah dan mendapat kesimpulan bahwa kemampuan menyimak para mahasiswa jurusan Pendidikan Bahasa Indonesia Universitas Siliwangi angkatan 2024 kelas C pada saat pelaksanaan pembelajaran menyimak sudah cenderung sangat baik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji representasi nilai-nilai kewirausahaan dalam buku ajar Bahasa Indonesia berbasis digital untuk kelas VIII SMP. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan metode analisis isi. Fokus analisis diarahkan pada enam indikator utama kewirausahaan, yaitu: kemandirian, kreativitas, keberanian mengambil risiko, kepemimpinan, orientasi pada hasil, dan etos kerja. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai-nilai kewirausahaan tersebut tersebar secara merata dalam berbagai bab dan kegiatan pembelajaran. Nilai kemandirian dan kreativitas banyak ditemukan dalam tugas individu dan kegiatan produksi teks, sedangkan keberanian mengambil risiko dan kepemimpinan muncul dalam bentuk tugas penyampaian pendapat, diskusi, dan pidato. Orientasi pada hasil serta etos kerja tercermin dari aktivitas pembelajaran yang menekankan ketekunan, kedisiplinan, dan capaian tugas. Keseluruhan temuan mengindikasikan bahwa buku ajar ini tidak hanya berperan sebagai sarana penguatan kompetensi berbahasa, tetapi juga sebagai media penanaman karakter kewirausahaan. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan perlunya penguatan eksplisit terhadap nilai-nilai kewirausahaan dalam pengembangan bahan ajar berbasis kurikulum merdeka.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transcreation strategy and the shift in meaning in the translation of the Dove Real Beauty advertisement from English into Indonesian, using Skopos theory and Dynamic Equivalence as analytical approaches. In the context of advertising translation, literal translation often fails to effectively convey the intended message to the target audience due to cultural and social value differences. Therefore, transcreation serves as a crucial strategy that allows creative adaptation of the message without losing its core meaning.This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a comparative text analysis method. The primary data consist of two versions of Dove’s advertisement: the English version titled Let’s Break the Rules of Beauty and the Indonesian version titled Beragam Kecantikan, Satu Indonesia (“Diverse Beauty, One Indonesia”). The analysis focuses on both verbal and visual elements in the advertisements by examining shifts in narration, slogan, language style, and female visual representation. The findings show that transcreation is used to adapt the global advertising message to be culturally relevant for the Indonesian audience. Skopos theory helps explain how the communicative purpose of the advertisement is tailored to local values such as diversity and unity. Meanwhile, Dynamic Equivalence demonstrates that the emotional impact of the advertisement remains consistent despite changes in linguistic and visual forms. In conclusion, advertising translation requires a creative and adaptive approach to effectively bridge meaning across cultures.

Abstract

Abstrak: Pembelajaran sastra yang terjadi pada saat ini masih terasa kurang khususnya pada materi tentang puisi. Pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan disekolah hanya menyajikan puisi lampau atau puisi yang terkenal. Tak jarang banyak yang kurang senang karena yang mereka tau puisi hanyalah tulisan tentang sebuah cinta, perasaan, galau. Semiotika didefinisikan sebagai suatu ilmu atau metode analisis untuk mengkaji tanda, dalam istilah Barthes, semiologi, pada dasarnya hendak mempelajari bagaimana kemanusiaan (humanity) memaknai hal–hal (things). Memaknai (to sinify) dalam hal ini tidak dapat dicampuradukkan dengan mengkomunikasikan (to communicate). Fenomena yang terjadi saat ini yaitu tentang berkembangnya teknologi telah menginvansi ruang-ruang kelas. Peserta didik dan pendidik mulai menggunakan gawai sebagai sarana dan referensi dalam proses pembelajaran. Menyikapi kendala dalam pembelajaran puisi tersebut, salah satu upaya yang dapat membantu menyelesaikan permasalahan tersebut adalah menggunakan media lirik lagu untuk tuntutan capaian pembelajaran kurikulum merdeka. Hal ini membuat penulis mengambil judul Analisis Semiotika Roland Barthes terhadap Aspek Makna Konotasi dalam Lirik Lagu Album “Sesuatu Yang Tertunda” Karya Padi dan Kesesuaiannya dengan Tuntutan Capaian Pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia SMA Kurikulum Merdeka Kata kunci: Pembelajaran, Semiotik, Lirik Lagu.

Abstract

One form of manifestation of the results of human thought is literary works. Literary works are created, enjoyed, and appreciated by society, and the main purpose of their creation is to be enjoyable. One form of literary work is poetry. Poetry as one of the literary arts has a unique ability to inspire, stir emotions, and convey deep messages to readers or listeners through the use of unique and creative language. One of the poetry works that attracted attention in the Indonesian literary scene was "Bahasa Langit" by Acep Zamzam Noor. This study aims to analyze the poem "Bahasa Langit" by Acep Zamzam Noor using the New Criticism approach. The method used is qualitative content analysis with a focus on analyzing the content of poetry and observing the choice of words used by poets. In addition, the New Criticism approach is used to examine aspects of the content and method of poetry, which include themes, feelings, tones, atmospheres, messages, diction, imagination, concrete words, majas, rhythm, and rhyme. The results of the analysis showed that the poem "Bahasa Langit" contains themes of metaphysics and spirituality, and expresses feelings of joy mixed with tension or anxiety. The poem also conveys the message that language is a means of expressing pent-up feelings and undergoing changes over time. Analysis of the method of the poem "Bahasa Langit" also reveals the use of majas such as metaphor and personification. In the selection of poetic diction and the varied use of majas, this research is expected to contribute to a deeper understanding of this literary work and inspire readers to better appreciate the beauty and complexity of poetry as a form of artistic expression that presents meaning through the play of language and images of the poet.

Abstract

The ease of accessing information makes it difficult to clarify the truth of the news being reported. One of the right ways to filter information is by conducting cohesion and coherence analysis.This research aims to understand how cohesion and coherence are used in online news regarding the viral case of the fried food vendor murder in Pariaman, West Sumatra, that occurred some time ago. Cohesion and coherence are important criteria and principles in a text. This research is expected to contribute to the development of story writing quality. So that the story can be understood and useful for the readers. Thus, the purpose of writing the story can inspire readers. The method used to analyze cohesion and coherence is descriptive analysis, which is evident in each paragraph. The aspect of cohesion that is analyzed is the aspect of lexical cohesion and grammatical cohesion. The results of this study show that the story "Regarding the murder case of a fried food seller in Pariaman, West Sumatra" in the criminal news on the online media CNN Indonesia on Saturday, September 14, 2024, has aspects of lexical cohesion, grammatical cohesion, and coherence. The aspect of constructive cohesion and coherence where discourse can convey a message to the reader. In this way, the content of the story can make the readers feel what the writer feels.

Abstract

Kampus mengajar merupakan program milik Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, Riset dan Teknologi (Kemendikbudristek) dimana mengusung tema merdeka belajar, kampus mengajar. Kampus Mengajar adalah bagian dari program Kampus Merdeka yang bertujuan untuk memberikan kesempatan kepada mahasiswa belajar dan mengembangkan diri melalui aktivitas di luar kelas perkuliahan. Kegiatan kampus mengajar berperan dalam meningkatkan keterampilan literasi, numerasi, dan adaptasi teknologi peserta didik di SMP Negeri 41 Kabupaten TEBO, Metode pelaksanaan yang diterapkan adalah studi kasus di SMP Negeri 41 Kabupaten TEBO di daerah pedesaan. Peran mahasiswa menjadi mitra guru yang berperan dalam mendukung kegiatan kreativitas dan inovasi dalam pembelajaran. Tindakan Tim Kampus Mengajar 8 tidak hanya berperan sebagai pengganti pendidik dalam penyampaian materi, tetapi juga memiliki tanggung jawab yang lebih luas dalam proses pembelajaran karena sebagai elemen tambahan yang dapat memperkaya materi dan strategi pembelajaran bagi peserta didik di lingkungan sekolah.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology has changed the mediaconsumption patterns of the younger generation, who are now increasingly dependent onstreaming media for entertainment, education, and social interaction. This phenomenon not onlyoffers flexible access and a variety of content, but also raises concerns about negative impactssuch as addiction, decreased quality of social interactions, and mental health disorders. This studyaims to describe the experience of watching streaming media among the younger generation,identify factors that influence their consumption behavior, and analyze its consequences on social,academic, and psychological aspects. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, thestudy involved 12 participants aged 17–23 years selected through purposive sampling. Datacollection was conducted through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation,then analyzed thematically with triangulation of sources and techniques to ensure data validity.The results show that the main motivations for using streaming media are entertainment,relaxation, increasing insight, and the need to follow social trends. The most popular types ofcontent include music, vlogs, entertainment videos, and educational content. Streaming mediaoffers benefits in the form of increased knowledge, practical skills, and emotional support, but alsocarries risks such as addiction, sleep disturbances, decreased productivity, and weakened directsocial interactions. This research confirms that streaming media plays a significant role in shapingthe identity and social lives of young people, while simultaneously requiring strengthened medialiteracy and wiser management of digital consumption. These findings are expected to provide abasis for educators, parents, and platform providers in designing strategies for healthy andconstructive use of streaming media.Keywords: (streaming media, young people, listening experience, media literacy, psychologicalimpact
