MILANG Journal of Mathematics and Its Applications, originally established in 2002 as the Journal of Mathematics and Its Applications (ISSN 1412-677X), transitioned to online publishing in 2018 and was renamed in 2022 to reflect its broadened scope. The name MILANG, a Sundanese word meaning “to count,” also stands for the journal’s key focus areas: Mathematics in Informatics, Life Sciences, Actuarial Science, Natural Sciences, and Graph Theory. This journal, published twice a year in June and December by the Department of Mathematics, IPB University, embraces an open access policy, making all articles freely available upon publication to support the global dissemination of innovative mathematical research.

Abstract

Pemrograman Fraksional Linear (Linear Fractional Programming) merupakan pengoptimuman fungsi objektif yang berupa fungsi rasional. Dalam tulisan ini akan dibahas Pemrograman Fraksional Linear (PFL) dan penyelesaiannya dengan menggunakan Transformasi Charnes-Cooper yang mengubah pemrograman fraksional linear menjadi pemrograman linear, dan penyelesa- ian PFL dengan menggunakan Algoritme Dinkelbach. Selain itu, dibahas pula salah satu aplikasi PFL dalam masalah transportasi.

Abstract

The traditional growth theory usually considers only the accumulation of conventional inputs of labor and capital as the primary variables responsible for the growth. It has been proven to be insufficient for explaining the complexity of modern economic growth. This thesis aims to study a two-region economic growth model proposed by Zhang (2005). This model explains the dynamics of economic system based on capital and knowledge accumulation. It also considers relationships between regional growth and regional trade patterns. Each region's production is similar to the standard one-sector growth model. Knowledge accumulation is assumed to be accomplished through learning by doing. Unfortunately, in obtaining the equilibrium solution of the model Zhang made some mistakes. Therefore, this thesis offers some corrections. The analysis done in this thesis includes obtaining equilibrium of the economic system and its feasibility conditions. Some results of simulation study show that knowledge improvement is more effective to increase equilibrium value of economic growth compared to improvement in investment or amenity level.

Abstract

Perilaku nilai tukar Rupiah terhadap $US dari tahun 1998 sampai dengan 2007 dicoba dimodelkan dengan menggunakan deret waktu Hidden Markov satu waktu sebelumnya. Pendugaan parameter model dilakukan menggunakan Metode Maximum Likelihood dan pendugaan ulang menggunakan metode Expectation Maximization. Hasil yang diperoleh cukup baik karena sudah menggambarkan secara umum perilaku nilai tukar Rupiah. Galat antara nilai harapan dengan nilai sebenarnya relatif cukup kecil.

Abstract

A uniform kernel estimator for intensity of a periodic Poisson process with unknowm period is presented and a proof of its consistency is discussed. The result presented in this paper is a special case of that in [3]. The aim of discussing a uniform kernel estimator is in order to be able to present a relatively simpler proof of consistency compared to that in [3]. This is a joint work with R. Helmers and R. Abstract

Masalah penjadwalan penugasan crew pada penerbangan disebut masalah crew pairing atau sering disebut juga masalah crew scheduling. Crew pairing untuk perusahaan penerbangan adalah sebuah rangkaian penerbangan yang harus dilaksanakan oleh crew, berangkat dan tiba pada sebuah pangkalan (base) tertentu. Crew pairing yang akan dipilih untuk melaksanakan seluruh penerbangan yang telah dijadwalkan harus memiliki biaya yang minimum. Dalam tulisan ini masalah ini dimodelkan ke dalam masalah set covering kemudian diselesaikan dengan teknik pembangkitan kolom.

Abstract

Metode regresi berstruktur pohon merupakan  suatu suatu metode  alternatif untuk segmentasi yang semakin luas penggunaannya. Dalam prosesnya, segmentasi dilakukan melalui proses penyeleksian peubah dan pemilahan terhadap data berdasarkan peubah terpilih.  Sementara dalam regresi bertatar, walaupun proses penyeleksian peubah juga dilakukan secara bertahap, namun  tidak  dilakukan pemilahan terhadap data, sehinggga tidak dapat diperoleh  informasi yang berarti untuk melakukan segmentasi data dengan analisis ini.  Namun demikian, analisis ini memililki suatu kelebihan;  yaitu  setiap tahap dari proses penyeleksian peubah dilengkapi dengan  suatu persamaan regresi,  dimana hal ini  penting artinya  untuk mengetahui  sejauh mana keterkaitan struktural antara peubah-peubah penjelas terhadap peubah respon.  Dalam tulisan ini, kelebihan yang dimiliki oleh metode pohon regresi dan analisis regresi bertatar akhirnya dapat digabungkan dalam suatu teknik segmentasi  dengan menggunakan prosedur regresi bertatar, dimana metode ini akan memilah data berdasarkan peubah yang muncul pada tahap pertama proses penyeleksian peubah,  sehingga metode ini bisa dimanfaatkan untuk segmentasi data sekaligus menemukan hubungan antar peubah. Penerapan metode baru ini untuk melakukan  segmentasi terhadap 1002 nasabah bank berdasarkan frekuensi transaksi memberikan hasil yang cukup memuaskan, dimana  keakuratan yang dihasilkan pada taraf nyata =0.05  lebih baik dari segmentasi  yang dilakukan  dengan metode pohon regresi dengan Nmin =50. Hal ini  merupakan suatu indikasi bahwa  metode  ini perlu dipertimbangkan sebagai metode alternatif untuk kasus segmentasi.

Abstract

Penurunan persamaan gerak gelombang internal pada fluida dengan kedalaman yang cukup besar (persamaan Benjamin-Ono) dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode asimtotik. Dalam hal ini, peubah simpangan gelombang internal diuraikan secara asimtotik terhadap suatu parameter yang menugukr amplitudo gelombang. Analisis asimtotik dilakukan hingga orde yang tinggi, dan diperoleh suatu persamaan gerak yang merupakan persamaan Benjamin-Ono tetapi dengan orde yang tinggi.

Abstract

Sebagian data selang kelahiran anak pertama tidak dapat diamati secara lengkap (data tersensor). Untuk menganalisis data  selang kelahiran anak pertama yang sebagian  tersensor  tersebut, digunakan analisis ketahanan nonparametric, yaitu metode life table, Kaplan-Meier, dan Hazard proporsional Cox. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa (1) walaupun tidak nyata, semakin kecil panjang selang yang digunakan dalam metode life table memberikan hasil analisis yang semakin baik, (2) berdasarkan metode Kaplan-Meier, hazard dari beberapa peubah bebas bersifat proporsional, (3) berdasarkan metode hazard proporsional Cox, peubah tempat tinggal, pendidikan, dan umur perkawinan pertama berpengaruh terhadap selang kelahiran anak pertama.
