Abstract

Abstract

Law plays a crucial role in promoting economic development in Indonesia. As a social instrument, law functions not only to regulate behavior but also as a means of social and economic engineering aimed at improving public welfare. One concrete manifestation of the law’s influence on economic development is the enactment of Law Number 5 of 1999 concerning the Prohibition of Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Business Competition, which serves as the legal foundation for creating a healthy and competitive business climate. This law aims to protect public interests, enhance national economic efficiency, and ensure fair business opportunities for all types of entrepreneurs. Through this regulation, the law balances the interests of business actors and the public, prevents market domination by certain groups, and promotes equitable economic distribution. The establishment of the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) as an independent institution strengthens the enforcement of fair competition. Thus, effective implementation of economic law contributes to sustainable, just, and constitutionally grounded economic growth in accordance with the values of Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution.

Abstract

Ebony (Diospyros celebica) is a typical forestry commodity of Central Sulawesi, possessing both high economic and aesthetic value. However, its utilization at the local level is still limited and has not had a significant impact on improving the community's economy. This study aims to analyze the potential of ebony utilization in strengthening the local economy through the development of micro-enterprises in Mantikulore District, Palu City. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through interviews, field observations, and review of supporting documents. The results show that ebony-based micro-enterprises have significant potential for development, especially in the high-value crafts and furniture sector. The main challenges faced include limited raw materials, strict regulations regarding protected wood status, and low managerial capacity of business actors. Recommended strengthening strategies include the establishment of ebony business centers, improving entrepreneurial skills, and strengthening partnerships between the community, local government, and research institutions to encourage sustainable local economic development.

Abstract

Snacking habits among school-aged adolescents can influence nutrient intake and affect their nutritional status, particularly in school environments where ready-to-eat foods high in sugar, salt, and fat are widely available. This study aimed to describe the snacking behavior and nutritional status of students at SMP Negeri 1 Mamuju, Mamuju Regency. A quantitative descriptive design was employed with a sample of 192 students from grades VII and VIII, selected using proportional random sampling based on the Slovin formula. Data were collected through structured questionnaires assessing snacking behavior, frequency of snack consumption, attention to nutritional content, and anthropometric measurements using a digital scale and microtoise to determine nutritional status via the BMI-for-age index. The results showed that most respondents had moderate snacking behavior (90.6%), while good and poor behaviors were reported in 7.3% and 2.1% of students, respectively. The majority consumed snacks at a moderate frequency (66.7%) and consumed colored snacks (75.0%), yet only 28.6% paid attention to snack nutritional content. Most students had a normal nutritional status (90.6%), with undernutrition (3.1%), overweight (5.7%), and obesity (0.5%) reported in smaller proportions. Chi-square analysis revealed no significant association between snacking behavior or snacking frequency and nutritional status (p>0.05). These findings highlight the need for nutrition education programs and healthy canteen initiatives in schools to improve healthy snacking behaviors while maintaining optimal nutritional status

Abstract

Previous research has shown that 72.8% of school children’s snack samples in six major cities in Indonesia contained harmful substances. This study aimed to describe students’ knowledge and attitudes toward healthy snacks at SMP Negeri 1 Mamuju. A descriptive design was used with a total sample of 192 students selected through proportional random sampling from grades VII and VIII. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire measuring levels of knowledge and attitudes toward healthy snacks. The results showed that the majority of respondents had low knowledge (65.1%), followed by moderate knowledge (26.0%) and high knowledge (8.9%). Nevertheless, most students had a positive attitude toward healthy snacks (68.2%), followed by moderate (22.4%) and poor attitudes (9.4%). Relationship analysis revealed that all students with high knowledge also had positive attitudes, while those with low knowledge were still dominated by positive attitudes, although a considerable proportion exhibited moderate and poor attitudes. These findings indicate a gap between knowledge and attitudes, which could potentially affect the consistent application of healthy snack consumption behavior. Integrated nutrition education interventions, along with school canteen supervision and the habituation of healthy eating practices, are needed to improve knowledge while maintaining students’ positive attitudes.

Abstract

Traditional weaving from Central Sulawesi, such as the motifs of Magau, Banua Oge/Souraja, and Tadulako, reflects deep cultural and historical values. However, the complexity of the patterns and motifs often makes manual identification challenging. This research employs an Artificial Intelligence (AI) approach using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) to automate the identification of these motifs. The AI model is trained using a diverse dataset of woven motif images and shows significant accuracy in classifying Magau, Banua Oge/Souraja, and Tadulako motifs. This research opens up cultural preservation and innovation opportunities in woven products with modern technology. The achieved result is the evaluation of the AI model using the following metrics: accuracy, precision, recall, and the confusion matrix. The accuracy obtained for each motif reaches 90%.

Abstract

Anemia among adolescent girls remains a major public health problem in Central Sulawesi, with substantial implications for regional human resource development. This study aimed to develop an integrated, evidence-based model for adolescent anemia prevention through a synthesis of findings from three field studies. Methods employed a descriptive–analytic integrative design combining a cross-sectional study on anemia determinants (Sigi District), an evaluative study on the implementation of anemia prevention programs (Donggala and Poso Districts), and a pre-experimental study assessing the effectiveness of multidisciplinary education (Donggala District), conducted between 2023 and 2025. A cumulative total of 809 adolescent girls aged 14–18 years were included. Results indicated that anemia prevalence ranged from 20.3% to 54.7%. Factors significantly associated with anemia included smoking behavior (OR=3.2; 95% CI: 1.1–8.7; ρ=0.025), low household income (OR=1.7; 95% CI: 1.0–2.9; ρ=0.039), undernutrition based on mid–upper arm circumference (OR=1.7; 95% CI: 1.1–2.6; ρ=0.011), and negative attitudes toward anemia prevention (OR=1.5; 95% CI: 1.0–2.3; ρ=0.043). Although iron–folic acid supplementation and food fortification programs have been implemented, their effectiveness remains limited due to low adherence. Multidisciplinary educational interventions significantly improved knowledge scores (from 6.46 to 7.90; ρ<0.001) and attitude scores (from 47.32 to 49.37; ρ=0.008). In conclusion, this evidence synthesis demonstrates that adolescent anemia prevention requires an integrated, cross-sectoral collaborative model that combines multidisciplinary education, strengthened adherence to nutrition programs, and family support. The proposed model contributes scientifically to the advancement of integrative anemia prevention approaches and provides policy-relevant evidence to inform regional health development strategies aimed at improving adolescent health and human resource quality in Central Sulawesi.

Abstract

Adolescents are a vulnerable group to premarital sexual behavior due to limited knowledge of reproductive health. At State Senior High School 7 Palu City, education related to premarital sexual behavior remains limited and has not yet utilized systematic digital educational media. This study aimed to examine the effect of health education using an e-booklet on students’ knowledge of premarital sexual behavior at State Senior High School 7 Palu City. This study employed a pre-experimental one-group pre-test–post-test design. The intervention was conducted once by implementing an e-booklet as an educational medium for tenth-grade students. The study was carried out on May 23, 2025, at State Senior High School 7 Palu City. The population consisted of all tenth-grade students (n = 346), with a sample of 78 respondents selected using proportional random sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses, with the Wilcoxon test applied for hypothesis testing. The results showed an increase in the proportion of students with good knowledge from 46.2% at pre-test to 100% at post-test. The Wilcoxon test indicated a statistically significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (p = 0.000; p < 0.05). This study concludes that health education using an e-booklet has a significant effect on improving students’ knowledge of premarital sexual behavior at State Senior High School 7 Palu City. Schools are therefore encouraged to utilize e-booklets as an alternative educational medium to enhance students’ understanding of premarital sexual behavior.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has created a wave of uncertainty that has led to economic failure and disruption, particularly in the micro and small business sector. This study aims to analyze the impact of the pandemic on MSMEs, using a case study in Kendari City, Southeast Sulawesi. This study uses primary data collected from 100 MSMEs in Kendari City through structured questionnaires and in-depth interviews, using a stratified random sampling method. The variables analyzed included income, number of employees, turnover, business capital, and marketing strategies before and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Data analysis was conducted using independent t-tests and fixed effects estimation to identify the impact of the pandemic on MSME performance and strategies. The analysis shows that the pandemic crisis has significantly impacted the economic system, particularly micro, small, and medium enterprises, as reflected in decreased income and disrupted employment, which in turn has led to increased unemployment. This impact has also affected business turnover and prompted changes in marketing strategies. Nearly 60% of MSMEs in Kendari City have experienced economic difficulties since the pandemic emerged in Indonesia. In Southeast Sulawesi, the decline in MSME performance is predicted to be primarily due to the low utilization of technology in product marketing, which is limited by the availability of funds.
