Abstract

School readiness as a concept has been there for a long period of time but has gained attention in the last few years. The perception of parents, teachers and school leaders on school readiness are very important to determine the extent to which children are ready to enter in the school setting. Therefore, this study specifically examines the perceptions and actions of parents, teachers, and school leaders on school readiness and how they contribute to the smooth transformation of children into school settings in Mtwara Region-Tanzania. However, many studies have been done on school readiness and many of them focused much on educational result oriented rather that system and mechanical oriented. Furthermore, this research has used qualitative methods such as online survey (interview, questionnaire and web search), document analysis. The result of this findings demonstrates that there is a need of the government intervention toward understanding of school readiness to parents, teachers, and school leaders. 70 percent of the teachers, parents and school leaders are not aware of the learning autonomous, therefore through this study the government should start to formulate and implement learning autonomous and online studies particularly in tragedy pandemic era such as Covid-19.  Key words: school readiness; perceptions; childhood; learning autonomous; Tanzania.

Abstract

Reflection becomes an important moment in lesson study because there is a pause with the process that has occurred to review the learning activities that have been carried out. This has an impact in determining the next follow-up in designing learning. This reflection stage is very important because efforts to improve the next learning process will depend on the sharpness of the analysis from participants' reflection. Reflection activities are carried out in the form of discussions which are followed by all lesson study participants guided by the principal or other appointed participants. The purpose of this study is to analyze the quality of reflection in post lesson discussions at SD GagasCeria so that it will affect the next learning design based on the learning process obtained by each participant. The research was conducted at SD GagasCeria using qualitative methods based on data analysis of post lesson discussion documents during lesson study in the 2018-2019 school year and 2020-2021 school year. Lesson study activities were carried out in 3 different classes attended by the teachers of SD GagasCeria. The reflection analysis instruments used are categories and levels designed to measure post-learning reflection from Ono (2013). Based on the results of the analysis of the post lesson discussion notes, there is a change in the level of reflection in 2019 and 2021. In 2019, the teacher's reflection level at GagasCeria is at level 1, which describes data and facts in general. In 2021, the teacher reflection level at GagasCeria increases to level 2 by 24%. At level 2, in addition to conveying the data and facts obtained, the possible background or reasons were also explained. This reflection analysis can be a reference in improving the quality of subsequent learning and developing teacher professionalism.Keyword:  categories and levels of reflection, lesson study, reflection

Abstract

Lesson Study (LS) is a practice of the teachers that is origin from Japan which give the positive impact towards the quality of educators‟ professionalism. This innovation will encourage the teacher to work collaboratively in sharing of knowledge, experience as well as research throughout the teaching period. However, the culture of LS has not been widely implemented in Malaysia even though it has been established here since 2011. This is because, most of the teachers consider that this LS is an additional workload that causes emotional disturbance and also can cause stress among them. The purpose of this study was to look at the psychological impact on the implementation of LS in schools. The psychological impact is seen in terms of teachers‟ acceptance and its relationship with teachers‟ stress on the implementation of LS. This study used a survey method by using the questionnaire instrument. A total of 186 teachers who teach in sekolah menengah kebangsaan harian were selected to be the sample of the study. The data were analysed descriptively and inferentially using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software. The findings of this study show that the level of teachers‟ acceptance towards the implementation of LS is high. However, the level of teachers‟ stress related to the implementation of LS is at a low level. While, there is a negative and very weak relationship between teachers‟ acceptance towards the implementation of LS with teachers‟ stress related to the implementation of LS. In conclusion, the teachers need to be given more effective exposure to the implementation of LS so that they can further improve the quality of teaching professionalism in the future. Keywords: Lesson Study, teacher professionalism, professional learning community (PLC), teachers‟ workload, teachers‟ psychology

Abstract

The Pancasila Student Profile strengthening project provides an opportunity for students to “experience knowledge” as a process of character building as well as an opportunity to learn from the environment. This research was carried out in the history lesson of phase E, class 10 Muhammadiyah Vocational School Kudus, with lessons on ” through making replicas. The character building taught to students are mutual cooperation (gotong royong), Critical thinking, and creative competence. Lesson study is used to project and capture signals from students in learning in order to provide recommendations for teachers to student needs and interpret student responses as potential that can be developed. Learning uses a project-based learning approach with products in the form of replicas of stone age culture. Students are given the opportunity to collaborate and create a product which is then presented in their language. It is clear that students demonstrate mutual cooperation competence in the process of making replicas, demonstrate Critical thinking competence by connecting materials and information related to the product to be made, and demonstrate creative competence because they have been able to make replicas made of plasticine from stone age culture. The conclusion of the analysis of the Pancasila student profile through the application of project-based learning is 1) each student's behaviour is a picture of potential that can be developed. 2) the choice of approach in learning is able to become a scaffolding in planting the dimensions of the Pancasila student profile.  Keywords : Pancasila Students Profile, Project-based Learning, History
