Abstract

Inappropriate antibiotic use in the community remains one of the contributing factors to antimicrobial resistance. Antimicrobial resistance is a global health threat because it can lead to treatment failure, increase morbidity and mortality, and impose a greater economic burden. One strategy to improve appropriate medicine use is to increase community understanding of DAGUSIBU (Get, Use, Store, and Dispose of Medicines), particularly antibiotics. This study aimed to determine the relationship between DAGUSIBU knowledge and the appropriate use of antibiotics among the community in North Denpasar District. This study employed a quantitative observational method with a cross-sectional design. Respondents were recruited using purposive sampling. The research instrument had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank correlation test with the assistance of SPSS version 26.0. A total of 400 respondents participated in the study, with a response rate of 97.56%. The results showed that the community's level of DAGUSIBU knowledge was relatively high, reaching 64%, while appropriate antibiotic use was reported in 52.3% of respondents. The Spearman Rank correlation test showed a correlation coefficient of 0.582 with a p-value of 0.001, indicating a statistically significant relationship with a moderately strong correlation. Improving community knowledge of DAGUSIBU through education provided by pharmaceutical personnel is essential to promote appropriate antibiotic use and support efforts to prevent antimicrobial resistance.

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy remains an important maternal health problem because it may affect maternal health and pregnancy outcomes. Based on the Maternal and Child Health Monitoring Program (PWS-KIA) of Sengkol Community Health Center in 2022, there were 1,011 pregnant women, including 145 pregnant women (14.34%) with anemia. In Tanak Awu Village, 26 pregnant women (13.00%) were reported to have anemia. This condition indicates the importance of understanding pregnant women's knowledge regarding anemia as part of maternal health efforts. This study aimed to describe the level of knowledge of pregnant women about anemia at Tanak Awu Polindes, within the working area of Sengkol Community Health Center, Central Lombok Regency, in 2023. This study used a descriptive research design. The population consisted of 43 pregnant women who received antenatal care at Tanak Awu Polindes in August 2023. A total sampling technique was applied, resulting in 43 respondents. Primary data were collected using a questionnaire concerning pregnant women's knowledge about anemia, while secondary data were obtained from maternal medical records. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis and presented as frequency distributions and percentages. The results showed that 22 respondents (51%) had a moderate level of knowledge, 14 respondents (33%) had a good level of knowledge, and 7 respondents (16%) had a poor level of knowledge. The findings indicate that the majority of pregnant women had a moderate level of knowledge about anemia. These findings emphasize the need for continuous health education and counseling during antenatal care to improve pregnant women's understanding of anemia prevention and management.

Abstract

Diarrhea is a common health issue among children under five years of age and can lead to dehydration if not managed appropriately. Managing diarrhea in children requires a rational approach that considers the patient's condition, fluid requirements, zinc supplementation, selective antibiotic use, nutritional support, and parental education. This study aimed to describe the use of medications for diarrhea in hospitalized children under five at General Hospital X. A non-experimental, descriptive study design with retrospective data collection was employed. Data were obtained from the medical records of hospitalized children with diarrhea and analyzed descriptively based on patient characteristics, drug classes, specific drugs, dosage forms, and routes of administration. The study of 53 patients revealed that males constituted the largest group (34 patients; 64.2%), while the <1-year age group was the largest (27 patients; 50.9%). Regarding body weight, the 7–12 kg group was the largest (32 patients; 60.37%). The most frequently used drug class was replacement fluids (73 items; 35.09%), with KaEN 3B being the most common type of fluid (39 items; 18.7%). Powder was the most common dosage form (62 items; 29.8%), and the oral route was the most frequent method of administration (116 items; 55.77%). These results indicate that diarrhea therapy for children under five at General Hospital X focuses primarily on meeting fluid requirements and providing supportive therapy tailored to the patient's condition

Abstract

Abstract: Emotional development is a crucial aspect of student development, as the ability to recognize, understand, express, and manage emotions is linked to a student's capacity to cope with academic pressure, build social relationships, and develop self-confidence. In an educational context, Guidance and Counseling (BK) teachers play a strategic role in providing psychological support through services tailored to students' needs. This study aims to describe the role of BK teachers—specifically through individual counseling services—in supporting the emotional development of students at MA Turus Pandeglang. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach within a field research framework. Data were gathered through observations, interviews with BK teachers and the school principal, document analysis, and questionnaires administered to students and parents. The results indicate that individual counseling services help students better recognize, understand, and manage their emotions. Data show that 75% of students experience anxiety when facing exams or academic pressure; 65% report increased self-confidence after receiving individual counseling; and 80% feel the services assisted them in developing emotional intelligence. Parental involvement also serves as a supporting factor, with 85% of respondents stating that effective communication between parents and BK teachers helps in understanding students' psychological needs. These findings demonstrate that BK teachers act as facilitators, companions, mediators, motivators, and emotional educators in helping students navigate emotional challenges. Individual counseling conducted in an empathetic, open, and structured manner can serve as a vital strategy for creating an educational environment that fosters student emotional well-being
