Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between parents’ socioeconomic status and students’ academic achievement through a library research approach. Parents’ socioeconomic status in this study includes educational level, occupation, and income, which indirectly influence learning opportunities, access to educational resources, and the quality of educational support received by students. The research method was conducted by reviewing and synthesizing various relevant literature sources, including academic books, national and international journal articles, and previous research findings related to the topic. The results of the literature analysis indicate that students from families with higher socioeconomic status tend to achieve better academic performance due to the availability of adequate learning facilities, a supportive academic environment, and positive emotional and academic support from parents. However, the findings also reveal that socioeconomic status is not the sole determinant of academic achievement. Non-economic factors such as students’ intrinsic learning motivation, teacher support, school quality, and a positive social environment play a significant role in enabling students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds to attain high academic performance. Therefore, it can be concluded that parents’ socioeconomic status has an influence on students’ academic achievement, but this influence is not deterministic. This study recommends that educational policies should focus on equalizing learning opportunities through scholarship programs, improving teacher competence, and strengthening collaboration among schools, families, and communities to support students’ academic success.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of the principal in parenting programs as an effort to shape an independent and virtuous generation at RA Rizqi. The focus of the research is directed toward how the principal’s leadership is able to integrate parental involvement with the vision of early childhood education. The study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method to portray phenomena naturally based on field data. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, and document analysis. The qualitative descriptive method was chosen to describe the forms, activities, characteristics, and relationships of the phenomena under study, while simultaneously developing theory from field findings. The research was conducted at RA Rizqi Pamulang. The results affirm the central role of the RA Rizqi principal in managing parenting programs as an integral part of early childhood education. The principal functions not only as an institutional manager but also as a moral leader who directs parental involvement to align with the school’s vision. The parenting program is designed to foster children’s independence through habituation of simple activities and to instill noble character through daily practices. The success of the program is supported by the commitment of the principal, teachers, and parental participation, despite challenges such as limited time and differences in parenting styles. Communication efforts and training carried out by the principal demonstrate a significant contribution to the emergence of an independent and virtuous generation.

Abstract

The weakening of social values and the increasing occurrence of various forms of deviant behavior among students indicate the urgent need to strengthen character education within the educational system. Although studies on character education have developed extensively, discussions that position schools as agents of socialization within the perspective of the sociology of education remain relatively limited. This article aims to analyze the role of schools as agents of socialization in instilling social values and shaping students’ character. This study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method by analyzing various relevant scholarly sources. The findings reveal that schools function as social institutions that transmit values, norms, and social ethics through the curriculum, school culture, social interactions, and the role modeling of educators. The socialization process plays an important role in shaping students’ character, particularly in fostering social awareness, responsibility, and the ability to adapt within society. The novelty of this study lies in its analysis of the function of schools as spaces for value socialization that systematically shape students’ character through social dynamics within the educational environment. These findings affirm that character education should be understood not only as a pedagogical process but also as a social process embedded within the structure and culture of schools.
