Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept and application of the cross-disciplinary approach in Islamic education as a strategy to integrate Islamic values with modern scientific knowledge. The research employs a qualitative approach using library research, focusing on an in-depth examination of scholarly literature from journals, proceedings, and academic documents. The analysis follows three main stages: collecting relevant literature, evaluating its validity and relevance (Creswell, 2014), and conducting content analysis to explore themes of knowledge integration and Islamic epistemology (Zed, 2014). The findings reveal that the cross-disciplinary approach in Islamic education encompasses three main forms: instrumental, which utilizes methods or tools from other disciplines; conceptual, which fosters dialogue across disciplines to expand theoretical frameworks; and transformative, which seeks to create new paradigms through the integration of science and Islamic values. Its practical implementation can be observed in integrative curricula at Islamic universities (UIN), ethically grounded institutional management, and research based on maqashid al-shariah. This study concludes that the cross-disciplinary approach plays a crucial role in building holistic, contextual, and globally competitive Islamic education. It strengthens the epistemological foundation of Islamic scholarship by uniting spirituality, rationality, and professionalism into a coherent educational paradigm.

Abstract

This study examines the practice of al-amr bi al-syirāʾ (murābaḥah to purchase orderer), particularly murābaḥah bil wakālah, through the lens of Agency Theory and Islamic legal frameworks. The rapid expansion of Islamic banking in Indonesia has led to the dominant use of murābaḥah financing, often combined with wakālah to enhance operational efficiency. However, this hybrid structure raises concerns regarding agency problems, information asymmetry, and substantive Sharīʿah compliance. Using a qualitative approach, this research integrates literature review and content analysis of primary regulatory sources, including the Compilation of Sharia Economic Law (KHES), DSN-MUI fatwas, and AAOIFI Shariʿah and accounting standards, supported by relevant academic literature. The findings reveal two contrasting regulatory approaches. The KHES and DSN-MUI frameworks emphasize flexibility and maṣlaḥah by allowing legal ownership (qabḍ ḥukmī) and delegated purchasing, which reduces transaction costs but increases agency risks such as moral hazard. In contrast, AAOIFI adopts a conservative stance that requires substantive ownership (qabḍ ḥaqīqī) and full risk assumption by Islamic financial institutions, thereby minimizing agency problems at the expense of higher operational costs. This study contributes to the literature by highlighting the trade-off between efficiency and agency cost in murābaḥah practices and underscores the need for harmonization between local and international standards to ensure both Sharīʿah compliance and effective risk governance in Islamic financing.

Abstract

The paper examined the effect of debt financing on the profitability of manufacturing firms in Nigeria while the specific objective assessed the relationship between debt-equity ratio and the return on equity of manufacturing firms in Nigeria. Data were obtained from five manufacturing firms listed on the Nigerian Exchange Group from 2004 to 2023. Regression analysis using E-view was adopted in this procedure to carry out the analysis. It was found out that ROE and debt to EBITDA ratio have non-significant Jarque-Bera statistics, with p-values of 0.190 and 0.690 respectively, suggesting that these variables may be considered approximately normally distributed. It was recommended that firms should focus on improving their interest coverage and earnings capacity, as these were positively related to financial performance and can improve a firm's creditworthiness and financial flexibility.

Abstract

Social changes and the dynamics of modern life have influenced the pattern of marital relations in Indonesian Muslim households, especially in the distribution of domestic and public roles. This condition requires an adaptive mechanism so that marital relations remain harmonious and sustainable. This article aims to analyze the psychological negotiation of husband and wife in the distribution of household roles as well as its implications for family harmony and resilience from the perspective of Islamic legal psychology. This study uses a qualitative approach to the type of normative legal research based on literature studies, through the analysis of Islamic Family Law Literature, national scientific journals, and relevant academic works. The Data were analyzed descriptively-qualitatively to reveal the linkages between psychological factors, the distribution of household roles, and the principles of Islamic law. The results show that domestic conflicts in the context of contemporary Muslim families are not solely caused by violations of legal norms, but are more often triggered by emotional communication failures, role imbalances, and psychological pressures that are not negotiated fairly. Psychological negotiation acts as an internal mechanism that allows alignment between the normative demands of Islamic law and the psychological reality of the couple through the principles of deliberation, Justice and benefit. In the perspective of Islamic legal psychology, psychological negotiation is a substantive instrument to realize harmony, resilience, and sustainability of Muslim households in the midst of ongoing social changes.

Abstract

Muhammadiyah represents one of the most influential Islamic reform movements in Indonesia, playing a pivotal role in reshaping religious thought, education, and social engagement since the early twentieth century. This article examines the historical foundations of Muhammadiyah by analyzing the socio-religious context prior to its establishment, the intellectual formation of its founder K.H. Ahmad Dahlan, and the core ideological principles underpinning the movement. Employing qualitative historical analysis based on literature review, this study reveals that Muhammadiyah emerged as an integrated response to colonial educational marginalization, religious syncretism, and social inequality. The findings demonstrate that Muhammadiyah’s reformist paradigm-grounded in tajdīd, educational modernization, and organized social action-remains relevant in addressing contemporary challenges.

Abstract

The implementation of learning activities and the habituation of Qur’anic reading at Nurul Jadid Islamic Boarding School, particularly in the Al-Hasyimiyah Area, still faces several challenges, including inconsistencies in students’ daily recitation, unstructured mentoring by guardians (wali asuh), and an underdeveloped monitoring system. The One Day One Page Program, which aims to habituate students to read one page of the Qur’an each day, has been implemented; however, it requires further strengthening in terms of mentoring and program management. This Community Service Program (PKM) aims to strengthen the culture of Qur’anic literacy among students through the optimization of the One Day One Page Program based on wali asuh mentoring. The method employed is a descriptive-participatory approach consisting of planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation stages. Mentoring was carried out through technical coordination with area administrators and wali asuh, daily submission of one page of Qur’anic recitation to the wali asuh, and weekly monitoring using a simple recording instrument in the Student Activity Book for Female Students (BKSP). Program evaluation was conducted by analyzing daily and weekly recitation records as well as reflective discussions with wali asuh. The results indicate an improvement in students’ consistency in performing daily Qur’anic recitation, enhanced fluency in reading according to proper makhraj and tajwid rules, and a strengthened role of wali asuh in mentoring Qur’anic literacy. Overall, the One Day One Page Program based on wali asuh mentoring has proven to be an effective model for fostering Qur’anic literacy habits that is simple, practical, and sustainable within the pesantren environment.

Abstract

Last semester students of the Faculty of Tarbiyah often face obstacles in quantitative data analysis. This community service program aims to improve the statistical data processing skills of fifth semester students using IBM SPSS software version 25. The intervention was carried out through a structured training program consisting of eight offline meetings, applying methods such as tutorials, workshops, and simulations. Students were involved in hands-on practice covering descriptive statistics, instrument test, assumptions of statistical tests, and hypothesis test (one-sample t-test, paired, and independent). The effectiveness of the program was evaluated using independent assignments, whose scores were analyzed with a one-sample t-test against a test value of 70. The results showed significant progress, with an average participant score of 78.08, which was statistically higher than the minimum standard. The Sig (2-tailed) value was 0.000, which means that this training was effective in training data processing competencies using IBM SPSS. The activity was closed with a follow-up in the form of creating a consultation group and disseminating material to ensure continuous assistance. This training effectively improved students' data analysis competencies, contributing to an increase in student research capacity and academic quality in the university environment.

Abstract

Digital governance has become a central strategy for strengthening public service delivery and improving governance quality in contemporary public administration. This article examines how digital governance reforms shape public service delivery in Indonesia and South Korea through a systematic literature review and comparative analysis. The study aims to identify similarities, differences, and transferable lessons between the two countries by synthesizing existing research on bureaucratic reform, e-government initiatives, and governance outcomes. A systematic review was conducted on peer-reviewed journal articles, policy reports, and publications from international organizations indexed in major academic databases over the last two decades. The analysis applies a thematic synthesis approach to classify findings across governance reforms, bureaucratic capacity, anti-corruption efforts, and digital public service innovation. The review shows that while both countries demonstrate strong political commitment to digitalization, South Korea has achieved more coherent and integrated outcomes due to its merit-based bureaucracy, centralized coordination, and long-term digital strategy. Indonesia, in contrast, continues to face challenges related to institutional fragmentation, uneven administrative capacity, and implementation gaps. This article contributes to comparative public administration by linking digital governance with bureaucratic performance and governance quality in two Asian democracies. It also provides context-sensitive policy implications for strengthening digital public services in developing countries.
