Abstract

Introduction: Cultural tourism plays an important role in supporting sustainable tourism development by integrating cultural preservation with economic and social benefits for local communities. In Bali, ritual-based arts such as Ogoh-Ogoh represent a unique cultural asset; however, their temporality limits their educational and economic utilization. The establishment of the Ogoh-Ogoh Museum in Desa Mengwi represents an innovative effort to transform ritual art into a permanent cultural tourism attraction. This study aims to analyze and formulate a conceptual model for the development of the Ogoh-Ogoh Museum in Desa Mengwi as a sustainable cultural tourism attraction. Methods: This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design. Data were collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews with museum managers and village stakeholders, and documentation review. The data were analyzed using SWOT analysis to identify internal strengths and weaknesses as well as external opportunities and threats influencing the museum’s development. Results: The results indicate that the Ogoh-Ogoh Museum possesses strong cultural value, unique collections, and community-based management through the involvement of the traditional village institution (BUPDA). However, the museum faces challenges related to limited digital promotion, human resource capacity, and operational sustainability. Based on the SWOT analysis, strategic alternatives were formulated through SO, WO, ST, and WT strategies, which were then synthesized into a conceptual development model. Conclusion: The study proposes a conceptual model based on four interrelated pillars: cultural preservation, community-based institutional strengthening, interpretation and educational development, and digital tourism adaptation. This model emphasizes that sustainable development of a ritual-based museum should prioritize cultural conservation and institutional stability alongside adaptive tourism strategies. The findings contribute theoretically to cultural tourism and museum studies and practically provide strategic guidance for museum managers and local stakeholders in developing sustainable cultural tourism destinations.

Malang City, as one of the tourism destinations in East Java, has urban tourism characteristics that are supported by historical heritage, cultural resources, culinary attractions, educational activities, creative economy, and hospitality services. This study aims to analyze the development of urban tourism destinations in Malang City and examine their contribution to tourism economic development and the hospitality industry. Methods: This research employed a qualitative approach using observation and literature review as data collection techniques. Results: The findings indicate that Malang City has significant potential as an urban tourism destination through its diverse cultural heritage, historical attractions, creative community-based tourism, culinary experiences, and urban activities. Accessibility, amenities, and accommodation facilities also support tourism development through adequate infrastructure, public facilities, and the growth of the hospitality sector. Abstract

Introduction: The Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) is a state-owned enterprise (SOE) that plays a strategic role in the development and management of integrated tourism destinations in Indonesia. The successful development of tourism areas, such as The Nusa Dua, The Mandalika, and The Golo Mori, is determined not only by physical infrastructure development but also by effective communication strategies that foster synergy between the organization and its various stakeholders. Therefore, analyzing ITDC's communication strategies is essential to understanding how organizational communication supports sustainable tourism development. Methods: This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with the Vice President of Marketing and Relations of the Nusa Dua ITDC, documentation, and a literature review. Data were analyzed using the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing through a descriptive analysis approach. Results: The findings reveal that ITDC implements an integrated organizational communication strategy through both internal and external communication to support sustainable tourism destination development. Internal communication is strengthened through open and transparent information sharing, multiple communication channels, and employee communication skills development, enhancing coordination and collaboration across the organization. External communication focuses on building long-term relationships with government agencies, local communities, investors, business partners, the media, and tourists through direct engagement, digital media, and corporate branding. Furthermore, ITDC utilizes integrated information systems and digital platforms, including ERP, HRIS, e-Office, its corporate website, and social media, to improve communication efficiency, stakeholder engagement, corporate transparency, and destination promotion. Conclusion: ITDC's integrated organizational communication strategy, supported by digital technology and stakeholder-oriented communication, plays a significant role in strengthening organizational effectiveness and fostering collaboration in tourism destination development. These strategies contribute to enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of Indonesia's integrated tourism destinations.
