Abstract

The present study dealt with An Analysis of Grammatical Errors bythe eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Kuta Utara in academic year 2016/ 2017. The researcher interested in analyzing kinds of errors because the errors were made by students should be corrected so not to become fossilized. The total amount of population which consisted of 12 classes were 384 students all together. The amount of population was determined by using quota random sampling technique. The number of representative students which used as subjet under study was 40 students. The present study which made use of an ex-post facto research design was intended to answer the following research questions: what kind of grammatical errors which is made by the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Kuta Utara in academic year 2016/ 2017 in constructing direct and indirect speech. The data required for the study were collected by using grammatical transformation tasks. In the grammatical transformation tasks, the students were asked to change direct speech to indirect speech or vice versa by the correct grammatical forms in the sentences. The result revealed that there were 303 errors made by the students. From the total number of students’ errors, the researcher found that there were four types of errors. There were 43(14,19%)of omission error, there were 29(9,57%)of addition errors, there were 58(19,14%)of malformation errors, and there were 173(57,09%)of disordering errors. The finding of present study was many students who weredifficultto answerdirect and indirect speech. They lacked of knowledge and inability in mastering English grammar so many mistakes were made by them.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic forced the schools to conduct e-learning. The challenges are even greater for vocational schools since the students do practices using specific instruments. Thus, this study aimed to develop an Android-based digital module for teaching English for food and beverage services to help students learn English effectively through online learning. This study followed the 4D model of research and development study. The data of the study were collected through observation, documentation, expert judgment, and questionnaire. The data were analysed both qualitatively and quantitatively. This study successfully developed the final format of the module in the form of an electronic book consisting of eight units. In addition, the quality of the module can be categorized as very good material based on the questionnaire results, which were given to the related students, lecturers, and expert judges. The exercises provided in the module provide many opportunities for students to practice and learn. The implication of this finding has a potential to revolutionize the way that English is taught and learned. By providing students with access to high quality digital modules can help students to achieve the student’s English language learning in Food and Beverage Services. This research merely evaluates the module in the formative process.

Abstract

This research aimed to identify translation procedures which were used by the students of English Education Study Program of Triatma Mulya University in translating children story in form of a legend. This research was a very simple research because it only tried to find out the students translation ability at the begining of joining the translation class. Therefore, the scope of the analysis and data was very simple and limited. The translation procedures proposed by Vinay and Darbelnet (1995) were used to analyze the translation of each phrase that was found in the source language. The research results showed that out of the seven translation procedures, there were four translation procedures which were used by the students, in which, the literal translation procedure was the most dominant procedure (76%). The three other procedures were modulation (10%), equivalence (8%), and transposition (6%).

Abstract

Employee performance is a major factor in increasing the productivity of an organization. However, unprofessional leadership styles often lead to differences in the treatment of local employees, which leads to social jealousy. In addition, delays in paying salaries and lack of briefings before and after work shifts also have a negative impact on employee motivation and performance. Declining employee performance will affect the resort's revenue and occupancy. This study aims to analyze the influence of leadership style and motivation on employee performance at Pramana Watu Kurung Resort Ubud. This study also aims to identify independent variables that have a dominant influence on employee performance. Data collection techniques include observation, documentation, interviews, and questionnaires with a total population of 62 employees. while the sample used as many as 50 employees is not included in Top Management. The results of statistical analysis and multiple linear regression show that leadership style and motivation have a positive and significant influence on employee performance. These two variables contributed 62.9% to employee performance, with the motivation variable having a more dominant influence (0.450>0.428). As a suggestion, Pramana Watu Kurung Resort Ubud is expected to provide encouragement and enthusiasm to employees, as well as establish a salary policy that is in accordance with standards and ensure that salaries are given on time. Thus, employees will be more motivated to complete their work optimally and with high quality. These measures are expected to improve overall performance and productivity at Pramana Watu Kurung Resort Ubud.

Abstract

Menggunakan preposisi tempat yang benar tidaklah mudah meskipun bagi mereka yang sudah mendalami bahasa Inggris sejak lama. Untuk mengetahui letak permasalahan tersebut, penelitian ini melibatkan 13 siswa Mapindo jurusan Akomodasi Perhotelan dengan tujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kesalahan yang terjadi dalam penggunaan preposisi tempat dalam bahasa Inggris. 12 soal pilihan ganda terkait penggunaan preposisi tempat in, on, dan at diberikan kepada ketiga belas siswa tersebut. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa siswa tersebut sudah mampu menggunakan preposisi in, on, dan at dengan baik namun terdapat beberapa kendala terkait dengan faktor budaya atau sudut pandang dari masing-masing Bahasa (Indonesia dan Inggris) sehingga diperlukan penekanan khusus dalam memberikan penjelasan terkait hal tersebut. Using preposition of place properly is not an easy thing, even for those who are studying English in depth for a long period of time. To identify the source of the problem, this research involved 13 Mapindo’s students with major in Hotel Accommodation. The research aimed to identify the mistakes which occur in the preposition of place usage. 12 multiple-option questions related to the use of preposition of place in, on, and at were given to the students. The results showed that the students were able to use preposition in, on, and at properly but there were some obstacles related to cultural or point -of-view factors of each language (Indonesian and English), therefore, it requires special attention in explaining the related matter. Abstract

Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan menggunakan pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner, wawancara dan dokumentasi serta teknik pengambilan sampel. Data diolah dengan menggunakan SPSS versi 25 dengan hasil penelitian lokasi menghasilkan nilai t-hitung 3,779 > t-tabel 1,662 dengan tingkat signifikan 0,000 < 0,05 menjelaskan bahwa lokasi berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap keputusan menginap tamu, harga kamar menghasilkan nilai t-hitung 2,099 > t-tabel 1,662 dengan tingkat signifikan 0,000 < 0,05 menjelaskan bahwa harga kamar berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap keputusan menginap tamu, harga kamar menghasilkan nilai t-hitung 2,099 > t-tabel 1,662 dengan tingkat signifikan 0,000 < 0,05 menjelaskan bahwa harga kamar berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap keputusan menginap tamu. 662 dengan tingkat signifikan 0,039 < 0,05 harga kamar berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap keputusan menginap tamu, kualitas pelayanan menghasilkan nilai t hitung sebesar 4,171 > t tabel sebesar 1,662 dengan tingkat signifikan 0,000 < 0,05, kualitas pelayanan berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap keputusan menginap. Dan lokasi, harga kamar dan kualitas pelayanan secara bersama-sama berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap keputusan menginap, dibuktikan dengan hasil uji f terdapat nilai f hitung (49,804) > f tabel (2,71) dengan nilai signifikan f sebesar 0,000 < 0,05. Variabel kualitas pelayanan lebih dominan dalam mempengaruhi keputusan menginap. Dan nilai R square sebesar 63,5%.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic poses a threat as well as an opportunity for tourist villages. Losing tourists is a threat, while improvement to prepare quality tourism is an opportunity. The problems faced by Sangeh Tourism Village are : i) there were still many people who had not implemented health protocols, ii) the potential for village tourism had not been fully offered in tour packages. The mentoring activity for Sangeh Tourism Village aims to increase tourist satisfaction in the normal era. The method used by giving lectures and discussions. The results of the activity show: i) increased public awareness regarding the application of health protocols, ii) the formation of natural, cultural and artificial tourism packages.

Abstract

This research is aimed to find out whether or not the implementation of Guide Reading And Summarizing Procedure ( GRASP) improves students' reading comprehension. GRASP strategy stands for Guide, Reading, and Summarize, Procedure. GRASP strategy. Guide Reading and Summarizing Procedure is teaching strategy which enables a teacher and group of students to talk, read and explore text. A class of accounting class in Triatma Mulya University  is participated as the participant of the study. The required data were collected through the use of questionnaire, observation checklist, and reading test. The data from the questionnaire indicated that students had positive attitude toward the implementation of GRASP. They feel that GRASP improves their motivation in learning English and GRASP brings more fun to the process of learning. Moreover, it was found from observation data that the students were actively participated during GRASP implementation and they were motivated when comprehending a text by means GRASP strategy. Finally, the study proved that GRASP improved students’ reading comprehension. Students’ mean score of reading test in the beginning of the study was 50.6 meanwhile, after applying GRASP as reading strategy, their mean scores improved to 67,80.2 and 89.7

Abstract

The purposes of the research were to study and to analyze English Language Politeness used by the local tour guides of Belumbang Tourism Village in Tabanan, Bali. The approach used is a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, which allows an in-depth understanding of the behaviour of tour guides in communicating with tourists. The research data was collected through questionnaires completed by respondents as well as structured interviews with key informants, who provided first-hand views of communication practices in the tourism context. The collected data were analysed using a qualitative descriptive method, with reference to the theory of language politeness developed by Leech (1983), which includes six language politeness maxims: (1) Tact Maxim, (2) Generosity Maxim, (3) Approbation Maxim, (4) Modesty Maxim, and (6) Sympathy Maxim. The research shows that local tour guides in Belumbang Tourism Village consistently apply the six maxims in daily interactions, both in providing information and services to tourists. This reflects a high level of language politeness, which is crucial in creating a positive tourism experience, strengthening interpersonal relationships, and maintaining local cultural values.

Abstract

Salah satu objek wisata di Bali terletak di Puri Agung Kendran, Desa Kendran, Kecamatan Tegalalang, Gianyar Bali. Puri ini memiliki objek wisata seperti seni arsitektur tradisional Bali, serta penerapan konsep Sanga Mandala dan Asta Kosala Kosali yang masih lestari sampai sekarang. Selain itu, kegiatan di lokasi tersebut tetap mencerminkan budaya kental Bali, apalagi di lingkungan yang sejuk dan dekat dengan tempat wisata terkenal lainnya seperti Ubud, Tegalalang, dan Tampak Siring. Wisatawan dapat melakukan berbagai hal di puri Kendran seperti berwisata keliling lingkungan puri, berfoto, menikmati hidangan tradisional, dan menikmati pernikahan kerajaan Bali. Para wisatawan dapat berkeliling Desa Kendran dengan bersepeda atau berjalan di sepanjang sawah yang sejuk dan pemandangan yang indah. Wawancara dilakukan dengan tokoh-tokoh Puri Agung.sebagai objek wisata unggulan di Kabupaten Gianyar dalam pelaksanaan penelitian. Data primer dan data sekunder diperoleh dan dianalisis dengan Analisis SWOT. Berdasarkan hasil analisis diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa Puri Agung Kendran berada di Kwadran V, yang berarti menjaga dan mempertahankan (strategi tidak berubah) untuk terus dikembangkan sebagai objek wisata budaya unggulan di Kabupaten Gianyar. Pengembangan Daya tarik budaya dengan keberadaan Puri Agung Kendran harus dikaitkan dengan berbagai kegiatan wisata lainnya, baik di Desa Kendran maupun objek wisata terkenal lainnya seperti Ubud, Tampak Siring, Tegalalang dan lain-lain. Perkembangan daya tarik wisata budaya tidak hanya dari Puri Agung Kendran sendiri tapi juga lingkungan sekitar Desa Kendran pada umumnya.
