Abstract

Elections are a decisive momentum in the life of democracy. This democratic party will determinenot only the head of state but also the representatives of the people who will sit in the legislativebody. The whole process certainly will not work without the participation of voters throughoutIndonesia, especially in this case the novice voters. Beginner voters have always been the center ofattention ahead of elections. Besides because they are a young generation who have an emotionalcharacter that is still unstable, coupled with the lack of experience in deciding political choices. Therefore, often the political behavior of young voters is not constant beginner even does not playan active role in the election. For this reason, the provision of material about the participation ofnovice voters in the election to the students is absolutely necessary so that the students can knowhow to play an active role in the election so as to apply it in the life of the nation and state.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) was conducted in collaboration with Majelis Taklim Nurhidayah, located in an urban area with relatively limited home yard space. Verticulture is an innovative cultivation system that utilizes vertical space, making it suitable for application in narrow urban areas. However, the partners’ knowledge and skills in vegetable cultivation using the verticulture system were still limited. The aim of this PKM activity was to improve the partners’ knowledge and skills in applying verticulture technology for vegetable cultivation in home yards. The methods included counseling, training/demonstration, mentoring, and evaluation and monitoring to assess the partners’ progress. The results showed that the program successfully enhanced the partners’ understanding and technical ability in verticulture-based vegetable cultivation, as well as their creativity in reusing plastic bottles and cups as planting containers. The partners expressed high appreciation for the PKM program, as reflected in their high level of satisfaction and their commitment to continue verticulture cultivation independently at home. The program has received full support to ensure its sustainability, especially in promoting vegetable cultivation through verticulture as an effort to enhance household food security.

The implementation approach involves socialization, nutritional presentations, demonstrations, and hands-on training during August-November 2025, with stages of boiling sliced cassava (5 cm) in a mixture of seasoned coconut milk (10 g salt, 20 g garlic per liter), hygienic food-grade packaging, and freezing at -15°C to -25°C for 24 hours for 3 months shelf life without loss of nutritional value or crispiness. Achievements include 100% full engagement, 100% satisfaction level (Strongly Agree + Agree Likert scale), 100% progress in knowledge and skills, as well as 85% of participants being able to process independently after the session, which cuts harvest waste by 50% and has the opportunity to increase household income by 50% through marketing ready-to-fry snacks. The social effects consist of strengthening women, alternative food variations, and transforming the image of cassava from conventional processing to a modern product. Abstract

The stunting reduction program in Takalar Regency remains a priority for the government, including in Paddinging Village, which is a foster village of the Indonesian Muslim University. One solution to address stunting is to provide children with complete nutrition. Nutrient-rich Moringa leaves have been chosen to support dietary improvements. This community outreach aims to educate residents about stunting, how to prevent it, and the nutritional benefits of Moringa leaves. Women from the PKK in Paddinging Village received training on making Moringa jelly candies (Perkelorat) using nutrient-dense agar, rich in antioxidants and fiber, in forms and flavors appealing to children. They were also taught hygienic and attractive packaging methods. This program not only improves the PKK members’ knowledge and skills in producing and packaging Perkelorat, but it also offers them potential additional income. Results from this outreach and training showed highly satisfactory data, with 57.89% strongly agreeing that Perkelorat is an innovative product with a desirable chewy texture and sweetness, and expressed interest in continuing to consume and recommend it.
