Abstract

Quiet quitting, or silent resignation, is a phenomenon in which individuals continue to perform and fulfil their work obligations, but emotional detachment and refusal of extra workloads without adequate compensation are becoming increasingly common among the workforce, particularly the younger generation, including lecturers at private universities. This study aims to examine quiet quitting among private lecturers through the lens of Stoic philosophy, which emphasizes accepting what is beyond one's control, managing emotions, and committing to internal rather than external values. The research approach is qualitative with case study methods and literature reviews related to the research theme. The research findings indicate that some lecturers adopt a similar attitude to quiet quitting, not as a form of passive resignation, but as a self-aware strategy to maintain professional integrity and work-life balance, in line with Stoic principles of eudaimonia and apatheia. However, tensions arise when individual Stoic values clash with institutional demands that emphasize excessive productivity. Stoic values will not apply if the welfare and work environment of private lecturers are deemed to meet the standards of a decent living. This study argues that Stoicism can serve as a reflective framework for understanding quiet quitting not as a decadent work ethic, but rather as a form of ethical resistance to labour exploitation, particularly in the context of structural inequality in private universities. Policy implications include reforming workloads and professional rewards that align with the principles of justice in Stoic ethics.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the moral values reflected through linguistic expressions in the film The Greatest Showman. The research focuses on analyzing dialogues and song lyrics that convey moral messages such as inclusivity, courage, self-acceptance, and resilience against social discrimination. The study applies a qualitative descriptive method using content analysis techniques. The data consist of selected utterances and lyrical expressions analyzed through pragmatic and discourse analysis frameworks. The findings show that the linguistic expressions found in the film demonstrate evaluative, affirmative, and persuasive forms that strengthen the delivery of moral messages. Language functions as a strategic tool for constructing moral discourse, encouraging audiences to embrace diversity, value equality, and appreciate individual identity.

Abstract

International trade plays a crucial role in driving economic growth and enhancing a country's competitiveness, particularly in strategic industries such as the railway industry, which requires high-tech technology and high-quality raw materials. In the context of globalization and increasingly fierce international market competition, a country's ability to maintain and improve its export performance is a key factor in the industry's sustainability. This study aims to analyze the competitiveness and growth position of railway raw material exports from three key countries—Germany, Japan, and Australia—in the international market. The analytical methods used include the Export Competitiveness Index (ECI) to measure export competitiveness and Export Product Dynamics (EPD) to identify the growth position of export products. The data used are derived from export statistics for specific periods relevant to the development of the global railway industry. The results show that Germany has strong and stable export competitiveness, reflecting its technological superiority and industrial efficiency. Japan exhibits competitiveness that tends to fluctuate but remains at a competitive level, while Australia has considerable export growth potential despite its relatively lower competitiveness compared to the other two countries.

Abstract

Regional economic development requires the identification of leading sectors as a foundation for formulating effective and sustainable development policies. This study aims to analyze base sectors and the dynamics of economic sector development in Aceh Province using the Location Quotient (LQ) and Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ) methods. The data used consist of Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) data of Aceh Province and Indonesia at constant prices by industrial sector over a specific period. The LQ method is applied to identify base and non-base sectors, while the DLQ method is used to analyze changes and future prospects of economic sectors. The results indicate that several economic sectors function as base sectors in Aceh Province; however, not all base sectors exhibit progressive growth. Meanwhile, the DLQ analysis reveals the presence of potential sectors that are expected to develop and become leading sectors in the future. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for local governments in formulating regional economic development strategies oriented toward strengthening leading sectors and enhancing regional competitiveness.

Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM), traditionally associated with older adults, has emerged as a critical public health crisis among younger populations globally, with Indonesia representing a significant and rapidly growing epicenter. This phenomenon, where diagnosed cases represent merely the "tip of the iceberg" with a vast, undiagnosed, and at-risk population submerged beneath, is particularly alarming in productive-age adults (20-59 years) and adolescents. This literature review synthesizes current evidence from 2015 to 2024 to explore the scale, determinants, clinical peculiarities, socioeconomic impacts, and management challenges of early-onset T2DM in Indonesia. The review reveals a potent interplay of genetic predisposition, driven by the thrifty genotype hypothesis, and profound environmental triggers, including Indonesia's rapid nutrition transition towards energy-dense diets and pervasive physical inactivity. The unique pathophysiology in the young, marked by more aggressive beta-cell decline and pronounced insulin resistance, leads to quicker complications, devastating personal and national economic productivity. Systemic challenges, including fragmented healthcare, low health literacy, and significant stigma, further hinder effective prevention and management. The review concludes that addressing this "iceberg" requires a paradigm shift towards transformative, multi-sectoral policies that prioritize primordial and primary prevention, integrate technology for screening and education, and foster youth-empowering, culturally-tailored interventions to avert a future tsunami of diabetes-related morbidity and economic strain.

Abstract

Bidang hukum yang dikenal sebagai "hukum jaminan" mengatur hak dan tanggung jawab para pihak terkait dengan jaminan atau agunan yang ditawarkan untuk memastikan pemenuhan suatu kewajiban, seringkali berupa tanggung jawab untuk membayar utang atau pemenuhan suatu kontrak. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian yakni penelitian hukum normatif dengan pendekatan studi literatur atau penelitian kepustakaan (library research). Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa Jaminan memainkan peran penting dalam perbankan Islam sebagai instrumen tambahan yang melindungi hak dan kewajiban para pihak, menurunkan risiko gagal bayar, dan memastikan kepatuhan terhadap prinsip-prinsip Islam seperti keadilan, kesejahteraan, dan transparansi. Dalam beberapa kontrak perbankan Islam, termasuk Murabahah, Ijarah, Mudharabah, dan Musyarakah, jaminan digunakan untuk mengurangi risiko, menurunkan moral hazard, dan menjaga integritas tanpa mengubah ketentuan utama kontrak atau memberikan keuntungan sepihak kepada bank. Penggunaan jaminan memiliki implikasi penting, termasuk memperkuat prinsip perbankan yang bijaksana, melindungi dana pihak ketiga, mengubah nasabah dari wali amanat menjadi penanggung risiko jika terjadi kelalaian, dan mencapai kepastian hukum dengan menyelaraskan hukum Islam dengan hukum positif nasional.

Abstract

Abstract. This review aims to analyze the influence of peer norms on language ethics by examining how social normative frameworks and peer-based dynamics shape ethical language use across diverse communicative contexts. The method employed is a systematic literature review of scholarly articles addressing the impact of peer norms on ethical language practices. The literature search was conducted systematically through query transformation, screening based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, citation tracking, and ethical and contextual validation. A total of 50 selected articles were analyzed using qualitative thematic synthesis, grouping findings into five main areas: the influence of peer norms on language ethics, mediating mechanisms in ethical decision-making, differences between formal and informal contexts, the role of social identity and group affiliation, and theoretical contributions and implications for digital communication ethics. The findings indicate that peer norms exert a moderate to strong influence on ethical language behavior, with digital environments amplifying normative pressure through anonymity and group dynamics. These results highlight the complex interaction of norms, identity, and context in shaping language ethics and underscore the need for interdisciplinary approaches

Abstract

The construction sector is one of the largest labor absorbers in Indonesia, yet it still faces the problem of unclear career paths for its workers. This study aims to examine the factors influencing career paths for construction workers from a labor law perspective. The research method used was a literature review with a descriptive qualitative approach through a review of scientific articles, books, national regulations, and policy documents related to labor and construction services. The results indicate that career paths for construction workers are influenced by internal factors such as education, skills, work experience, motivation, and competency certification, as well as external factors such as working conditions, labor market needs, and regulatory support. From a labor law perspective, Indonesian laws and regulations essentially provide protection for career development through regulations on job training, competency certification, occupational safety and health, and the principle of non-discrimination. However, gaps remain between legal norms and field practice, primarily due to project-based employment relationships and weak oversight. Therefore, strengthening the implementation of labor law is key to ensuring the certainty and sustainability of career paths for construction workers in Indonesia.
