Abstract

This study examines environmental journalism in news photos in the online media Antarafoto.com. The ecological issue studied is the protection of wild animals, namely the Sumatran tiger in Aceh Province. The focus of the study is on environmental journalism, namely chronic points that provide information about the condition of the Sumatran tiger. Points of criticism and comments, namely a vehicle for education, raising awareness and providing solutions for the government and society. The research method used is Roland Barthes’ semiotics. The results of the analysis of news photos, namely denotations, describe the condition of the Sumatran tiger in the process of evacuating, caring for, and releasing it to its natural habitat. Connotation, showing six procedures: trick effect, pose, object, photogenic, aestheticism, and syntax. The selection of compositions, objects, and photo captions is essential to highlight in news photos so that they are easy to understand. The myth emphasizes the importance of the process of protecting the Sumatran tiger in Aceh. Antarafoto.com showcases environmental journalism by providing information on dealing with the problem of Sumatran tiger poaching. They appear in a news photo showing the Sumatran tiger evacuation process by Aceh Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) officers, the treatment process at the Conservation Response Unit in Naca Village, Trumon, Aceh, and the release process in the Leuser Ecosystem Area, Gayo Lues Regency, Aceh. Antarafoto.com has not presented environmental journalism that can provide solutions for the government and society in realizing the critical role of managing the environment in dealing with the endangered Sumatran tiger

Abstract

The Covid-19 vaccination activity in Indonesia at the end of 2020 caused a new polemic in the community and gave rise to various positive and negative opinions about vaccination. Experts and public figures explain the importance of vaccinating Covid-19 through their social media accounts. Social media became a medium at the current covid-19 pandemic to share information and policies on Covid-19. The study discussed students’ perceptions in Surabaya of the Covid-19 vaccination information on Dr. Tirta’s social media account. We conducted this study with a qualitative approach and online data-collection technique for interviews with eight student informers over 20-26 years. Studies show that six out of eight informers claim that postings about vaccinations on Dr. Tirta’s Instagram account have significantly been affected by information coupled with accurate data. Dr. Tirta’s covid-19 vaccination information on the student’s Instagram account has a powerful influence on a student’s perception of the Covid-19 vaccination and can transform a student’s actions by willingly vaccinating a Covid-19.

Abstract

Advertising is one of the formulas for realizing the interests of producers by running a message construction in the advertisements they make. In television commercials, the harmonious arrangement of narratives, sounds and visuals are the three main forces to bring out the depiction of masculine values to the viewers. In the television commercial “Extra Joss versi laki”, producers construct a masculine image of their products. The research problem is “How are the depiction of masculinity characteristics in the ‘Extra Joss’ product in television commercials?” By using Roland Barthes’ semiotic method which analyzes the meaning of two levels of signification, this paper examines how masculinity characteristics are depicted in the product “Extra Joss” in the television advertisement “Extra Joss versi laki”. As the result, it is found that the characteristics of traditional masculinity in society in the “Extra Joss” product – namely, first, men should not complain even though they are tired; second, the myth of male virility; and last, the myth of male strength, while the new masculine characteristics (new masculinity) are not found in this ad.

Abstract

This article discusses the practice of Dramaturgy theory carried by the owners of alter Twitter accounts. In the modern era, communication technology is not only used to facilitate human work. Communication technology is also used to make it easier for humans to interact with each other. That practice of social interaction does not only occur in the real world but also in the virtual world. Many dramaturgical theory practices appear in cyberspace, one example is alter accounts on Twitter. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The researcher creates a description based on the facts, characteristics, and relationships between the phenomena. The data collection method used is observation and interview. This study indicates that the two sources have something in common, that is, to make their alter accounts on Twitter a place to show a side of themselves that they cannot show in the real world. On the front stage, they build a self-image by posting sensual photos and videos in revealing clothes accompanied by supporting captions. However, on the back stage, these two sources show the opposite side, by dressing neatly, covering their genitals, acting politely and also having good manners.

Abstract

This article reports the results of research on the phenomenon of people with mental health disorder in the productive age group, which continues to increase. In an effort to overcome this phenomenon, there is the information about mental health that is packaged in narrative format in the “Menjadi Manusia” vlog on the YouTube channel. This study aims to measure the effect of the narrative in the vlog content on the narrative. transportation and people’s attitudes to maintaining the mental health. The theory used is the transportation. theory and the entertainment overcoming resistance model. The research method used is an explanatory survey with the subject of the vlog audience “Menjadi Manusia” who are chosen purposively. The results showed that story tellers and story receivers in the youtube vlog channel narration “Menjadi Manusia” had a positive effect on narrative transportation and narrative transportation had a positive effect on people’s attitudes in maintaining the mental health

Abstract

This article reports the research results on framing three national media portals, namely Detik.com, Kompas.com, and Tempo.Co regarding the decision to name Nusantara for the new capital city of Indonesia (IKN) in East Kalimantan. This research aims to reveal whether the framing reflects each media’s ideology. The paradigm of this research is constructivism with Robert M.Entman’s framing analysis method. This paper adopts the social construction of reality, ideology, and media as the substantive theory and media framing as The text theory. The results showed that the three media frames for naming Nusantara on IKN still contained problems but differed in focus. Detik.com frames it as a power process, while Kompas.com and Tempo.co as a democratic process. The Kompas.com and Tempo.co frames have reflected their media ideology. Meanwhile, Detik.com is more pragmatic from the media business aspect.

Abstract

This article reports the results of research on the Influence of Convenience to The Customer Factors and Customer Perceived Value and Benefit Factors on Impulse Buying in Online Retail: Berrybenka. The conceptual and theoretical basis used is about the internal factors in consumers that affect impulsive buying behavior. The research method is quantitative, survey, with primary data originating from questionnaires distributed to 100 people using convenience sampling, while secondary data comes from various books and relevant research results. The results showed that the internal factors that influence consumers’ impulsive buying behavior are search convenience, transaction convenience, and hedonic. However, the factors of access convenience, evaluation convenience, post-purchase and utilitarian, did not show any effect on impulsive buying behavior.

Abstract

This article was written based on the results of research on the influence of website design, informativeness, and security of online transactions through the website on the customer satisfaction. The website researched is www.ucareindonesia.org which is organized by the Ukhuwah Care Indonesia Institute as an Amil Zakat Institution in Bekasi City. The method used is a survey of Ucare Indonesia customers (visitors) on the website www.ucareindonesia.org with the multiple linear regression analysis techniques. The sample was selected using a the purposive technique with the criteria being an active customer to donate. The results showed that the website design and informativeness of www.ucare indonesia.org had an effect on customer satisfaction. However, the security of online transaction website variable has no effect. The contribution of the influence of the three variables simultaneously is equal to 57%.

Abstract

The Family Hope Program (PKH) is a program designed with the aim of improving people’s lives. One of the success of this program is determined by the intensive and sustainable program assistants who have roles as facilitators, educators and community representatives.The role of a supervisor in monitoring mentors of the PKH is essential to be studied. The supervisor supports and empowers mentors, especially in the Family Development Session (FDS) activity. This article describes the implementation of the PKH supervision function based on the results of research in the Cimanggis sub-district, Depok. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with primary and secondary data collection through observation, interviews and documentation. As a result, this research uncovers three roles of a supervisor in this program. First is an administrative function comprising making reports, case management, and conflict and complaint management. Another part is to educate and manage the value and knowledge transfer to the mentors. Lastly, the supervisor’s role in the program is to provide moral support and resources to mentors.

Abstract

Cisaat, sebuah destinasi wisata berpotensi, masih belum dikenal di kalangan pelancong meskipun memiliki potensi pertumbuhan yang besar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan  peningkatkan branding di Pusat Informasi Wisata (TIC) melalui media digital dengan menggunakan Teori Branding Mind-Behavior-Visual. Melalui studi kasus dengan empat informan, penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan platform seperti YouTube, Instagram, dan website khusus telah memperluas jangkauan Cisaat di luar batas wilayahnya. Analisis menggunakan Teori Branding menekankan perlunya penyempurnaan visualisasi pesan dan konsistensi di berbagai platform digital, serta optimalisasi fitur yang ada. Peningkatan signifikan dalam keterlibatan digital, terbukti dari peningkatan jumlah pengikut, menandakan perbaikan yang signifikan. Secara keseluruhan, memanfaatkan media digital untuk branding Desa Wisata Cisaat melalui TIC telah terbukti efektif dalam menarik perhatian publik. Implikasi teoritis menyarankan bahwa tiga aspek penting untuk perbaikan branding lebih cocok digunakan dalam media digital karena pembahasan yang komprehensif dalam konteks ini.
