Motivasi Jurnal Manajemen dan Bisnis is journal that publishes scientific articles in the fields of management and business sciences covering the fields of financial management, human resource management, marketing management, operational management and management information systems that are managed and published by the Management Study Program of the Faculty of Economics and Business of Muhammadiyah University of Palembang. Articles published in the Motivasi: Jurnal Manajemen dan Bisnis include original scientific research results and new scientific review articles from various academics and researchers that have not been published elsewhere. The publishing period is twice a year, namely in June and November. Motivasi: Jurnal Manajemen dan Bisnis has been accredited by the Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education with decision number: 204/E/KPT/2022 and is currently ranked at SINTA 5.

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to understand how attractiveness (affective reaction) influenced urge to buy impulsively through the mediation of perceived Usefulness (cognitive reaction). The research hypothesis is that there is an indirect effect between attractiveness and urge to buy impulsively through mediation of perceived usefulness. Design/methodology – This study used a one-time non-experimental quantitative research design that was tested on 165 respondents who had shopped in live streaming commerce. The survey was carried out online through non-randomized convenience sampling techniques. A measuring tool used in the form of a questionnaire that asks for an assessment of several statements. The statistical analysis was used to test mediation effect by using mediation PROCESS MACRO for SPSS by Hayes (Model 4). Findings – The results of the analysis showed that usability acceptance had a mediating effect on the effect of attraction on impulsive shopping impulses in consumers who had shopped on live streaming commerce. The immediate effect became insignificant when controlled with the mediation variable. The next study is suggested to be tested on different groups of respondents to test universality, test more specifically by differentiating e-commerce and so-commerce with more comprehensive variables and then can be tested with experimental methods to improve the internal validity of the study results.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to determine the effect of motivation and work discipline on the performance of employees of PT Pegadaian Kanwil III Palembang. Design/methodology –The type of research used is associative research. The independent variables in this study are motivation and work discipline, while the dependent variable is employee performance. The population in this study were all permanent employees at PT Pegadaian Kanwil III Palembang, totaling 82 people, with a sample of 45 respondents using the Slovin formula 10%, with sampling techniques using simple random sampling. Primary data in this study were obtained from questionnaires, while secondary data were obtained from documentation. The data analysis techniques used are classical assumption test analysis, multiple linear regression, hypothesis testing (F test and t test), and the coefficient of determination. Findings -The results of the F test (simultaneous) prove that there is a significant influence between motivation and work environment on the performance of employees of PT Pawnshop Regional Office III Palembang. The results of the t test (partial) prove that there is a significant influence between motivation on employee performance, and there is a significant influence between work discipline on the performance of employees of PT. Pawnshop Regional Office III Palembang. The coefficient of determination shows that motivation and work discipline are able to contribute to improving employee performance by 67.4%.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to examine the influence of promotion and process on the decision to use the LinkAja digital wallet application in Seberang Ulu II District, Palembang City Design/methodology – This study employs an associative quantitative approach with data collected through questionnaires and documentation. The population consists of LinkAja application users in Seberang Ulu II District, which is considered an infinite population. A total of 97 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS.  Findings - The results of the study show that promotion and process simultaneously have a significant influence on the decision to use the LinkAja application. Partially, both promotion and process individually also have a positive and significant effect on usage decisions. This study provides implications for companies to optimize promotional strategies and simplify service processes to enhance customer satisfaction and usage decisions

Abstract

Purpose– The research background stems from the observed decline in employee performance, attributed to obstacles in career development and low work discipline levels. The main goal is to determine both the partial and simultaneous effects of career development and discipline on employee performance at the Bogor District Attorney's Office. Design/methodology– The research employs a quantitative approach, gathering data through questionnaires distributed to 80 employees. The collected data were analyzed using validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression analysis with SPSS version 23 software. Findings - Results reveal that career development positively and significantly affects employee performance, with a regression coefficient of 0.262. Work discipline exerts a stronger influence, with a regression coefficient of 0.423. Together, these variables explain 62.8% of the variance in employee performance (Adjusted R Square: 0.628). Practically, these findings provide a solid foundation for management at the Bogor District Attorney’s Office to focus on strengthening career development programs and work discipline as key strategies to improve performance. Theoretically, this study reinforces the crucial role of career development and work discipline as key variables in human resource management within government institutions.

Abstract

Purpose- The study focuses on analyzing the business strategy and development of RI&CI’s cassava emping under PT. Sinar Utami Group using IFAS, EFAS, and IE matrices. Internally, the business shows strengths in strong commitment, consistent product quality, and sufficient labor availability, but faces weaknesses such as limited promotion, reliance on traditional production methods, raw material supply challenges, and basic financial management. Externally, the business benefits from government support, technological advancements, and expanding markets, while also confronting threats including product imitation, raw material price volatility, and weakening consumer purchasing power. Design/methodology–This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach using a case study method to analyze the business strategy and development of cassava chips (emping singkong) under the RI&CI. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation, and documentation. Informants were selected using purposive sampling, focusing on individuals directly involved in business operations. Findings - The IFAS and EFAS analyses yielded scores of 3.040 and 2.764, positioning PT. Sinar Utami Group in Quadrant II of the IE Matrix, which suggests a growth strategy. Accordingly, the company should strengthen digital promotion, pursue product innovation, expand its distribution networks, and enhance production efficiency as well as financial management to ensure sustainable development. This study thus offers a comprehensive view of strategic measures that MSMEs can adopt to remain competitive in dynamic business environments.

Abstract

  Purpose – This study aims to test and analyze the effect of lifestyle and store atmosphere on purchasing decisions for Ici koffie in Madiun. Design/methodology – The sample employed in this study comprised 100 respondents who are consumers of Ici Koffie in Madiun. The sampling technique utilized was purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted online through the use of Google Forms. The data analysis methods included validity and reliability testing, classical assumption testing, multiple linear regression analysis, hypothesis testing, determination coefficient (R²) analysis, and t-tests. Findings - The findings indicate that the lifestyle variable exerts a significant positive influence on purchase decisions, while the store atmosphere variable also demonstrates a significant positive impact on purchase decisions. The coefficient of determination obtained is 0.789, suggesting that lifestyle and store atmosphere collectively account for 78.9% of the variance in purchase decisions, with the remaining 21.1% attributable to other factors not examined in this study.

Abstract

Purpose - This study aims to examine the influence of brand image and price on purchasing decisions for the Elzatta hijab brand in Depok City. Design/methodology - This research adopts a quantitative associative approach to identify the causal relationship between brand image, price, and purchasing decisions of the Elzatta hijab brand in Depok City. Primary data were collected through a questionnaire distributed to 96 Elzatta hijab buyers in Depok. The sample was obtained using non-probability purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS version 25. Findings - The results indicate that both brand image and price, either partially or simultaneously, significantly affect purchasing decisions. The relationship between the independent and dependent variables is very strong, with 74.90% of purchasing decisions for Elzatta hijabs in Depok being influenced by brand image and price.

Abstract

Purpose– This study aims to examine how brand image and brand awareness influence consumer satisfaction with halal cosmetic products in the city of Bogor. Design/methodology– The sort of research used is descriptive and associative studies with a quantitative technique. The records in this take a look at had been received from primary information thru questionnaires distributed to one hundred respondents who are purchasers of halal cosmetic merchandise in Bogor city. The sampling method used was purposive sampling, even as the information evaluation approach hired a couple of linear regression evaluation with the assist of SPSS version 25 software. Findings - Brand image has a positive and significant influence on customer satisfaction, and brand awareness also has a good and significant influence on buyer satisfaction, according to the results of the study concurrently, citra merek and emblem attention have a large impact on client pride with halal cosmetic merchandise in Bogor city. This indicates that a stronger citra merek and better brand awareness can improve consumer delight inside the halal cosmetics industry.

Abstract

Purpose- This study aims to examine the effect of capital structure and banking efficiency on the financial performance of conventional banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). Design/methodology– This research uses a quantitative associative approach with secondary data obtained from the financial reports of 26 conventional banks during 2020–2024, resulting in 130 firm-year observations. Capital structure is measured by the Debt to Equity Ratio (DER), bank efficiency by the Operating Expenses to Operating Income ratio (BOPO), and financial performance by Return on Assets (ROA). Multiple linear regression is used for hypothesis testing. Findings- The results indicate that capital structure and bank efficiency simultaneously affect financial performance. Partially, DER has a positive and significant effect, while BOPO has a negative and significant effect on ROA. This implies that an optimal capital structure and efficient operational management can enhance profitability. The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.911 shows that 91.1% of the variation in financial performance is explained by these two variables. The findings suggest that conventional banks need to manage debt and operational costs efficiently to maintain profitability and competitiveness.

Abstract

Purpose– The aim of this research is to ascertain and examine how financial technology, hedonistic lifestyle, and financial literacy affect financial behavior. Design/methodology– An explanatory research method was used in this study. The data used were obtained from questionnaires and documentation. The population in this study was Gen Z, born between 1997 and 2012, living in the Binjai Barat subdistrict of Binjai City. The sample was selected randomly (accidental sampling). The sample size was determined using the Lemeshow formula, resulting in 96 respondents as the sample. To facilitate the research, the sample size was rounded up to 100 respondents. The data was analyzed using multiple linear regression with the help of IBM SPSS Statistics. Findings - The results of the study indicate that the variables of financial literacy, fintech, and hedonistic lifestyle together have a positive and significant effect on the financial behavior of Gen Z in the Binjai Barat District of Binjai City. Partial hypothesis testing shows that fintech and hedonistic lifestyle do not affect financial behavior. Conversely, financial literacy affects the financial behavior of Gen Z.
