Abstract

This study seeks to analyze the types, processes, and impacts of symbolic violence contained in Reza Mustopa's novel Bu, Aku Ingin Pelukmu (Mom, I Want to Hug You) using Pierre Felix Bourdieu's sociological perspective on literature. A qualitative approach with content analysis was chosen to reveal the hidden power relations in social practices and language presented in literary texts. The subject of this study is data presented in the form of paragraphs, sentences, and excerpts of poetry within the novel that represent practices of social domination. Literature cannot be separated from correlations between individuals and groups, especially when social class, capital, and position present the potential for violence, both physical and non-physical. Symbolic violence is understood as subtle, vague, and hidden violence through doctrine, loyalty, gifts, recognition, gratitude, and ethics of honor, so that it often goes unnoticed by the dominated party. The findings of the analysis indicate that symbolic violence in the novel appears in two main categories: non-physical violence and physical violence. Non-physical violence is manifested in the form of of social groups and privileges, while physical violence comes in the form of spiritual material and the body of the soul. The research process was conducted through stages including understanding the object, coding the data, categorizing, analyzing, and drawing conclusions. This study confirms that novels not only reflect social reality but also serve as a means of revealing the mechanisms of symbolic domination that operate subtly in family, educational, and social structures. Thus, the findings of this study are expected to enhance the field of literary sociology and provide insight for students, teachers, and the community in understanding social and linguistic theories, particularly those related to symbolic violence.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of marriage readiness, gender roles, and the concept of the ideal family in the video “Lingsir”, the winner of the AKUKAMU digital content competition organized by the National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN). This research employed a descriptive qualitative method. Data collection was conducted through the observation of visual and verbal signs within the video, categorized into eleven scenes across three blocks and supported by secondary data from official BKKBN documents and literature on reproductive health. The data analysis technique utilized Roland Barthes’ semiotic analysis, examining signs at the levels of denotation, connotation and myth. The results demonstrate that the video “Lingsir” constructs a contract between unprepared marriage as a chaotic situation and the idel marriage achieved through emotional, health, and knowledge readiness, including participation in the Pre-Marital School (Sekolah Calon pengantin, KUA counseling, and the 1000 Days of Life (1000 HPK) education. The findings also identify that women are still represented as the center of domestic responsibility and family health, while men are beginning to be portrayed as involved in the marriage preparation process. Overall, this video frames the ideal family as a unit that adheres to the guidance pathways provided by the state and religious institutions.

Abstract

This systematic literature review synthesizes empirical evidence from forty Scopus-indexed studies published between 2015 and 2025. This study aims to build comprehensive understanding of factors triggering foreign language speaking anxiety and patterns of these behavioral manifestations. This study follows systematic PRISMA 2020 guidelines with procedures of identification, screening, analysis, and thematic coding of selected studies. Analysis results indicate that foreign language speaking anxiety emerges from six primary thematic domains, namely psychological dispositions and self-belief systems, social-affective pressures and identity concerns, linguistic and communicative competence constraints, performance and evaluation demands, pedagogical practices and instructional design, and contextual-technological conditions. The most frequently identified factor in selected studies was social-affective factors across thirty-one studies. Behavioral manifestations include speech disruption patterns, avoidance behaviors, affective and physiological responses, technology-mediated adaptations, and cognitive interference. The findings of this study underscore that foreign language speaking anxiety emerges through dynamic interactions between internal vulnerabilities and external contextual conditions. This produces a thematic framework for conceptualizing foreign language speaking anxiety more comprehensively. These evidence-based implications support efforts to enhance foreign language learners' speaking abilities.
