Abstract

The availability of clean water is a crucial factor in supporting sanitation and health in Islamic boarding schools, especially for bathing, washing, and toilet (MCK) facilities. Pondok Ma’had Al-Aqwam MAN Kendal faces poor water quality issues, such as murky water, unpleasant odors, and unsuitable acidity levels. This study aims to develop an Internet of Things (IoT)-based water quality monitoring information system to support real-time sanitation management in boarding schools. The system is designed using an ESP32 microcontroller integrated with pH, turbidity, and temperature sensors, displaying data directly through the Android-based Blynk application. It also includes an automation logic that activates the filtration pump when the pH or turbidity values fall outside the normal range. Testing results indicate that the system can accurately read and display water conditions and perform automatic re-filtration when water is deemed unfit for use. Expert and user validation yielded an average score of 90%, indicating the system is highly feasible for clean water management in boarding schools. Therefore, this system offers a practical and efficient solution for continuously monitoring and maintaining water quality.

Abstract

In the era of digital and globalization, the need for graduates who have competencies in accordance with industry demands is becoming increasingly important. Students often face difficulties in determining the right direction of learning, both for career development and achieving competency certification. This study aims to develop a personalized recommendation system for student learning that is able to predict appropriate career paths and recommend relevant certifications. This system utilizes a data-driven approach using data mining and machine learning techniques, by processing academic data, interests, expertise, and current industry trends. The recommendation system algorithm used includes a content-based and collaborative approach, which are combined to produce more accurate and adaptive results. This system is designed to provide learning suggestions in the form of courses, additional training, and external certifications that support students' career goals. Initial test results show that the system is able to improve students' understanding of their potential and career prospects. Thus, this system is expected to be an innovative solution in supporting the personalization of future-oriented higher education.

Abstract

Spotify's genre classification system remains too broad, often grouping songs with distinct characteristics into the same category. For example, Pop Ballads and Dance Pop are frequently classified under "Pop" despite significant differences in tempo, emotion, and production style. This leads to inaccurate song recommendations. This study applies the K-Medoids algorithm to enhance song classification based on Spotify Playlist Count, Spotify Playlist Reach, and Spotify Popularity. The CRISP- DM methodology guides business understanding, data understanding, data preparation, modeling, evaluation, and deployment. Clustering results without popularity ranking reveal three main groups: songs with low playlist count but high reach (dominated by light hip-hop), songs with high playlist count and reach (dominated by contemporary R&B), and songs with low popularity (dominated by dance). After ranking by popularity, clusters became more defined, with alternative pop dominating the high-reach cluster, contemporary R&B in the popular cluster, and dance pop in the less popular cluster. Evaluation using a Silhouette Score of 0.5014 indicates good cluster quality. Additionally, this study successfully identified the 15 most popular songs on Spotify in 2024. These findings can help Spotify refine its recommendation system by incorporating subgenre-based classification, ensuring more accurate search results aligned with user preferences and evolving music trends.

Abstract

The development of application-based transportation services such as Uber has driven an increase in the number of public opinions distributed through various digital platforms. Sentiment analysis of this public opinion is important to understand user perceptions of Uber services. This study applies the Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) algorithms to classify public opinion sentiment, by optimizing data imbalance using the Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE). The data used comes from Uber reviews on public platforms, which are grouped into positive, negative, and neutral sentiments. The experimental results show that the SVM algorithm has superior performance with an accuracy of 94%, while XGBoost experienced an increase in accuracy of up to 93% after applying SMOTE. This study provides insight into the effectiveness of machine learning algorithms in sentiment analysis and its implementation in the development strategy of application-based transportation services. Abstrak: Perkembangan layanan transportasi berbasis aplikasi seperti Uber telah mendorong peningkatan jumlah opini publik yang disalurkan melalui berbagai platform digital. Analisis sentimen terhadap opini publik ini menjadi penting untuk memahami persepsi pengguna terhadap layanan Uber. Penelitian ini menerapkan algoritma Mesin Vektor Pendukung (SVM) dan Peningkatan Gradien Ekstrem (XGBoost) untuk mengklasifikasikan sentimen opini publik, dengan mengoptimalkan ketidakseimbangan data menggunakan Synthetic Minority Oversampling Technique (SMOTE). Data yang digunakan berasal dari ulasan Uber di platform publik, yang dikategorikan ke dalam sentimen positif, negatif, dan netral. Hasil eksperimen menunjukkan bahwa algoritma SVM memiliki performa lebih unggul dengan akurasi mencapai 94%, sementara XGBoost mengalami peningkatan akurasi hingga 93% setelah penerapan SMOTE. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan mengenai efektivitas algoritma pembelajaran mesin dalam analisis sentimen serta implikasinya terhadap strategi pengembangan layanan transportasi berbasis aplikasi.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze and explore quantum theorems as a wireless telecommunications security solution in the future. This study uses a quantitative approach through simulation and performance analysis of QKD systems in wireless channels, by combining literature studies and comparative analysis between QKD and PQC. Meanwhile, the wireless communication simulation model, using the QKD protocol and PQC algorithm, with Free Space Optics (FSO), WiFi, and LiFi-based network scenarios. The simulation was carried out using MATLAB. This study is based on QKD, which uses BB84 and CV-QKD protocols on FSO 100m and LiFi wireless channels. And based on PQC, which uses the Kyber algorithm, with AES authentication for communication. Both models were simulated and tested based on the parameters of Quantum Bit Error Rate, Key Generation Rate, latency, and resistance to third-party attacks (wiretapping detection). Furthermore, the analysis was carried out quantitatively and comparatively to compare the performance of QKD and PQC based on the QBER, latency, KGR, and wiretapping detection of implementation. This analysis are combined with data based on the literature, to formulate optimal implementation strategies in the context of future wireless networks. The results indicate that QKD, specifically CV-QKD, has significant potential for use in attack-sensitive wireless communications, such as military, government, and industrial applications. However, this model requires more complex hardware and infrastructure investments in its implementation. Meanwhile, PQC offers a more ready-to-use and cost-effective solution for everyday communications that remains resilient to quantum attacks.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology requires computer network systems to have a high level of data security. One of the technologies that is developing and has great potential in terms of data security is blockchain. Blockchain technology offers a decentralized and transparent system that can minimize the risk of data manipulation and leakage. This study aims to analyze the implementation of blockchain technology in computer networks and its impact on improving data security. The methods used in this study are literature studies and simulations of blockchain-based network implementations. The results of the study show that the integration of blockchain into computer networks can improve data integrity, authentication, and availability through cryptographic hash mechanisms, smart contracts, and consensus systems. However, challenges such as transaction speed and power consumption are still obstacles to widespread implementation. Thus, blockchain technology has significant potential in strengthening computer network data security, but requires further development to optimize its perfor-mance

Abstract

The use of public networks such as free Wi-Fi is increasingly widespread along with the development of information technology. However, public networks have a high level of vulnerability to security threats such as data interception attacks in the center, and session hijacking. This study aims to examine the role of Virtual Private Network (VPN) in maintaining user privacy when accessing public networks. The method used is a literature study with a descriptive qualitative approach, based on academic literature, research reports, and the latest technical documentation. The results of the study show that VPN is able to encrypt data traffic, hide the user's IP address, and prevent unauthorized access to sensitive information. Analysis of VPN protocols such as WireGuard, OpenVPN, and L2TP/IPSec indicates that performance and level of protection vary, with WireGuard showing the highest efficiency. Although effective, the use of VPN also has limitations such as decreased connection speed and privacy risks if using untrusted services. Therefore, choosing the right VPN service and implementing good security policies are very important in efforts to protect digital privacy. This study confirms that VPN is an important component in the cybersecurity ecosystem, especially in the context of public network access.

Abstract

The 5G network represents a major technological advancement driving the progress of the Internet of Things (IoT), particularly through its ability to transmit data at high speeds with near-instant response times. It enables stable connectivity for a greater number of IoT devices within a single area without compromising network performance, thereby supporting the development of advanced applications such as smart cities, precision agriculture, smart grids, and modern healthcare services. In the energy sector, 5G enhances smart grid management by enabling more efficient energy distribution. In healthcare, it allows real-time monitoring of patients through IoT-based medical devices. Meanwhile, in the agricultural domain, 5G facilitates intelligent land management and supports more accurate decision-making. Overall, 5G strengthens IoT capabilities by providing highly precise and real-time data, which accelerates analytical processes and improves operational performance. Consequently, 5G plays a strategic role in advancing digital transformation across various industrial and social sectors, boosting productivity, operational efficiency, and service quality, while also opening new opportunities for future IoT implementations.

Abstract

Coal companies in Indonesia each year experience an increase in the amount of production that will be distributed to industries both domestically and abroad. Where some coal companies entrust other companies as contractors in terms of renting heavy equipment units to move overburden or all soil/rock that covers the coal layer. In terms of renting heavy equipment units, the contractor company will calculate the rental cost of the heavy equipment unit when carrying out mining activities by calculating the number of iterations on the heavy equipment unit used. This iteration is the number of heavy equipment work cycles in a certain time unit, sometimes the calculation of the number of iterations has a difference in calculation which results in one party experiencing a loss. Therefore, to overcome the difference in calculation, the researcher created a tool, namely the "Prototype of the Automatic IOT-Based Iteration Calculation Tool on Heavy Equipment Units" so that there is no more difference in the calculation of iterations during the mining process and the productivity of the tool will be in accordance with the planned plan.

Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) has become a crucial component in the development of smart cities, enabling seamless integration and communication among various devices to enhance public service efficiency. In densely populated and complex urban environments, a reliable and flexible communication infrastructure is essential. Mesh networks offer a promising solution due to their ability to provide dynamic connectivity, wide coverage, and resilience to node failures. This study aims to evaluate the performance of mesh networks in supporting IoT implementation in urban settings through a simulation-based approach. Key performance parameters analyzed include throughput, latency, packet delivery ratio (PDR), and energy consumption. Simulations are conducted by varying the number of nodes and network topologies to reflect real-world urban conditions. The results indicate that mesh networks can deliver stable and efficient communication performance in IoT scenarios, although challenges such as increased latency and reduced energy efficiency in large-scale deployments must be addressed. These findings offer valuable insights for the design and implementation of mesh-based IoT networks in urban environments.
