Abstract

This study examines the effect of khat learning and learning motivation on students’ Qur’anic writing ability at MTs Nurul Muhajirin Labanan Makarti. The study used a quantitative approach with a correlational design. A total of 51 students were selected using purposive sampling. The independent variables were khat learning and learning motivation, and the dependent variable was Qur’anic writing ability. Data were collected through a Qur’anic writing test and a learning motivation questionnaire. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted after confirming that all statistical assumptions were met. The results showed that khat learning and learning motivation had a significant simultaneous and partial effect on students’ Qur’anic writing ability. These findings indicate that structured khat learning, supported by strong learning motivation, effectively improves students’ competence in Qur’anic writing in the Islamic junior high school setting.

Abstract

Qur’anic literacy constitutes a fundamental component of Islamic education, playing a crucial role in shaping religious understanding and moral character. However, Qur’anic literacy among rural communities remains suboptimal, necessitating the development of sustainable, community-based non-formal Islamic education models. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the RBQ Plus Program (Rumah Belajar Qur’an Plus) in enhancing Qur’anic literacy among residents of Bogem Village, Gurah District, Kediri Regency, and to identify supporting and inhibiting factors as well as its impact on the internalization of Qur’anic values. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive phenomenological design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving program managers, Qur’an instructors, parents, and learners. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman interactive model, with triangulation applied to ensure data credibility. The findings reveal that the RBQ Plus Program is implemented systematically through Qur’anic reading instruction, habitual recitation (tilawah), reinforcement of verse comprehension, and the integration of Islamic educational values into daily life. Supporting factors include learners’ motivation, educator competence, and strong family and community support, while limited facilities and heterogeneous participant backgrounds emerge as inhibiting factors. The program contributes significantly to improving tajwid-based reading skills, enhancing basic Qur’anic understanding, and strengthening religious character among community members.

Abstract

In Indonesia's local economy, language plays a crucial role not only as a medium of communication but also as a strategic resource for fostering trust, building social networks, and creating economic opportunities. While existing research on Arabic in Indonesia predominantly examines its role in religious, educational, and diplomatic settings, its use in daily commercial interactions, particularly in local markets, has remained underexplored. This study addresses this gap by investigating the role of Arabic ‘āmiyyah as both a form of communicative action and a type of linguistic capital in the multicultural marketplace of Pasuruan. Using a qualitative sociolinguistic ethnographic approach, the research was conducted in the Kauman and Jalan Jawa areas of Pasuruan City. Participants included Arab Jamaah traders, customers from Arab, Javanese, and Chinese backgrounds, as well as key informants. Data were gathered through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and recordings of market interactions, and analyzed using discourse and thematic analysis. The findings reveal that Arabic ‘āmiyyah, particularly through code-switching and lexical choices, serves as a key tool for building trust, enhancing customer loyalty, and generating economic value. This highlights the significance of language as a vital microeconomic resource in a multicultural economic context, thereby contributing to the broader understanding of linguistic capital in economic communication.

Abstract

This study analyses how teachers’ Islamic pedagogical ethos is institutionalised and how it contributes to the development of students’ adab in an Islamic primary school. It addresses the persistent gap between the normative ideals of Islamic education and their practical implementation. Unlike prior studies that view pedagogical ethos as an individual attribute, this research conceptualises it as a collective, institutional construct embedded within school culture. A qualitative case study was conducted at SDIT Ibadurrahman Srengat, Blitar. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews with the principal, teachers, and students. The data were analysed using interpretative thematic analysis, with triangulation employed to enhance credibility and validity. The study reveals a structured, multi-layered model of Islamic pedagogical ethos aligned with the Professional Learning Community (PLC) framework. This model operates across institutional, pedagogical, and daily praxis levels, showing that Islamic pedagogical ethos is systematically developed through cycles of value internalisation, collaborative engagement, and reflective practice. The process fosters sustained cultivation of students’ adab within the school environment. By integrating PLC principles with Islamic value internalisation, this study provides a novel, operational, and sustainable framework for character education in Islamic schooling. The findings offer practical guidance for educational leaders and teachers seeking to institutionalise Islamic pedagogical values and support the holistic development of students.

Abstract

This study examines the internalization of respect for teachers through the culture of shaking and hand-kissing within an Islamic Religious Education perspective at Darul Muslimin Muhammadiyah Islamic Boarding School. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were gathered from kiai, teachers, and students through interviews, observation, and documentation.  The findings reveal that this cultural practice is not merely a tradition, but an effective medium for embedding values of respect, rooted in both religious teachings and educational norms. It significantly contributes to the development of students’ character, fostering humility, politeness, discipline, and stronger learning motivation. The internalization process is reinforced through exemplary behavior, habitual practice, and continuous social interaction within the boarding school environment.  This study highlights that the culture of shaking and hand-kissing functions as a powerful hidden curriculum, playing a strategic role in strengthening Islamic character education in a holistic and sustainable manner.

Abstract

The implementation of the 2024 Regional Head Elections in Indonesia generated constitutional and legal debates regarding the interpretation of regional head terms of office. Differences in interpreting the calculation of tenure between statutory provisions, Constitutional Court decisions, and technical electoral regulations created legal uncertainty concerning the eligibility and constitutional status of regional heads participating in the 2024 Regional Elections. This study aims to analyze the implications of multiple interpretations of regional head terms of office on legal certainty within Indonesia’s electoral system and to examine the legal harmonization required to prevent similar constitutional ambiguity in future elections. This research employed a normative legal research method using statutory, conceptual, and case approaches. Primary legal materials consisted of statutory regulations, Constitutional Court decisions, and electoral regulations, while secondary legal materials included legal doctrines, books, and scientific journal articles related to constitutional law, elections, and legal certainty. The findings indicate that inconsistencies between Law Number 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government and Law Number 10 of 2016 concerning Regional Elections, combined with differing constitutional interpretations, have created multiple interpretations regarding regional head tenure. This condition has affected democratic legitimacy, equal political rights, and legal certainty in the implementation of the 2024 Regional Elections. The study further finds that the absence of harmonized electoral regulations and clear transitional provisions contributes significantly to constitutional ambiguity within Indonesia’s electoral governance. Therefore, legal harmonization, synchronization of electoral regulations, clearer legislative drafting, and stronger institutional coordination among electoral institutions are necessary to ensure constitutional certainty and democratic legitimacy in future regional elections.

Abstract

The neutrality of the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) constitutes an essential principle in ensuring democratic, honest, and fair elections in Indonesia. Nevertheless, violations of ASN neutrality continue to occur during electoral processes, including involvement in practical political activities, misuse of state facilities, and political support expressed through social media platforms. This study aims to analyze the legal effectiveness of the General Election Supervisory Agency’s (Bawaslu) supervision in maintaining ASN neutrality during elections in Garut Regency and to identify the factors influencing the implementation of such supervision. This research employed an empirical juridical qualitative approach. Data were collected through interviews, documentation studies, and literature reviews involving Bawaslu officials, ASN members, and relevant legal documents concerning election supervision and ASN neutrality. The findings indicate that Bawaslu has carried out preventive supervision through socialization programs, direct monitoring, institutional coordination, and handling of alleged neutrality violations. However, the effectiveness of supervision has not yet been fully optimal due to several obstacles, including limited supervisory authority, inadequate human resources, broad supervisory areas, low legal awareness among ASN, and persistent sociopolitical pressures within local bureaucratic structures. The study concludes that the effectiveness of Bawaslu’s supervision is influenced not only by the legal framework but also by institutional capacity, legal culture, and societal compliance with neutrality principles. Strengthening institutional coordination, supervisory authority, and legal awareness is therefore necessary to support democratic elections characterized by fairness, integrity, and bureaucratic professionalism.

Abstract

This study examines the pedagogical meaning of prohibition in QS. Luqman 13 and its relevance to contemporary child-centered education. The study is motivated by the tension between modern educational paradigms that emphasize freedom, autonomy, and self-expression, and the need for moral boundaries in children’s character formation. Using a qualitative library research design, this study applies thematic Qur’anic interpretation and comparative educational analysis. Primary sources include QS. Luqman 13 and classical Qur’anic commentaries, while secondary sources include works on Islamic education, character education, and modern educational theories. The findings show that the prohibition expressed in the phrase lā tushrik billāh is not merely a normative command, but an educative boundary delivered through affection, dialogue, and rational moral reasoning. The phrase yā bunayya reflects a compassionate pedagogical relationship, while the explanation that shirk is a great injustice provides a rational foundation for moral internalization. Compared with child-centered education, Qur’anic pedagogy offers a model of guided freedom that balances autonomy with value-based boundaries. This study contributes to Islamic education scholarship by reconstructing prohibition as a humanistic, dialogical, and transformative pedagogical instrument. The study concludes that contemporary education should not eliminate prohibition, but should reinterpret it as an educative boundary that supports self-control, moral awareness, and responsible freedom.

Abstract

Contemporary Islamic education faces the challenge of integrating academic achievement with spiritual and character formation. This study examines the implementation of Tauhid-Based Integral Education (TBIE) at SMP Luqman Al-Hakim Surabaya and explores how this model supports students’ learning motivation, academic character, and achievement orientation. A qualitative descriptive case study design was employed. Data were collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews with school leaders, teachers, and students, and documentation of curriculum materials, lesson plans, school programs, and achievement records. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model through data reduction, data display, and conclusion verification, with credibility strengthened through triangulation, member checking, and peer debriefing. The findings show that TBIE is implemented as an epistemological and pedagogical framework that integrates spiritual, intellectual, and physical dimensions into curriculum planning, classroom instruction, and school culture. The internalization of tauhid values is perceived to strengthen students’ intrinsic motivation, discipline, academic honesty, and learning engagement. Documentary data also indicate that the school demonstrates strong academic performance through AKM results and academic competitions. This study argues that TBIE can support academic achievement by shaping students’ self-regulation and learning character, although causal claims require further quantitative or longitudinal investigation. The study contributes to Islamic education scholarship by offering a case-based model of value-integrated learning that connects spiritual consciousness, character formation, and academic development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between principal managerial performance and organizational culture, personality, job satisfaction, and decision making simultaneously in the context of Indonesian schools. A quantitative correlational design was employed, involving school principals and teachers as respondents, selected through probability sampling. Data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using linearity tests and multiple regression to examine relationships among the variables. The results indicate that all variables have significant linear relationships. Organizational culture and personality positively influence job satisfaction and decision-making effectiveness, which in turn affect principal managerial performance. These findings underscore the importance of developing a supportive organizational culture and strengthening personal characteristics to enhance school leadership effectiveness. The study provides theoretical contributions to educational management literature and practical implications for improving school management quality.
