Immortalis Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies is a peer-reviewed open-access journal. This journal serves as a platform for the dissemination of innovative, high-quality, and interdisciplinary research that bridges diverse fields of knowledge, including but not limited to the social sciences, humanities, Law, natural sciences, technology, economics, health, and education. The journal aims to promote scholarly exchange and collaboration across disciplines by publishing original research articles, review papers, and theoretical discussions that integrate insights and methodologies from multiple academic domains. All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial screening by the editorial team and are then evaluated through a double-blind peer review process by at least two reviewers who are experts in their fields. This ensures the integrity, quality, and originality of the work published. This journal is published quarterly, with new issues released every July, October, January, and April.

Abstract

Rapid developments in Machine Learning (ML) and Data Analytics (DA) are reshaping Information Systems (IS) from transactional tools into intelligent, socio-technical ecosystems. However, existing literature remains fragmented between purely algorithmic focus and organizational adoption. This Systematic Literature Review (SLR) synthesizes 48 high-impact Scopus-indexed studies published between 2020 and 2026, following the PRISMA 2020 framework, to map the architectural and organizational integration of ML and DA in IS transformation. Our findings reveal a paradigm shift across five dominant thematic clusters: predictive forecasting, intelligent automation, big data integration, Explainable AI (XAI), and Human-AI collaboration. Rather than pure automation, the literature strongly underscores a transition toward Human-Centered AI, where model interpretability and socio-technical governance are critical to user trust and system performance. Furthermore, we identify core deployment bottlenecks—specifically regarding algorithmic transparency, cross-system interoperability, data privacy, and ethical governance. This study contributes a novel conceptual framework illustrating the interplay between technical ML capabilities, cross-cutting enablers, and organizational value creation, offering actionable guidelines for designing sustainable, transparent, and adaptive AI-driven IS.

Abstract

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) has rapidly transformed higher education practices, creating new opportunities for pedagogical innovation while introducing complex challenges related to assessment validity, academic integrity, and institutional governance. However, existing studies remain fragmented across technological adoption, learning processes, assessment practices, and ethical considerations, limiting a comprehensive understanding of how GenAI can be integrated responsibly into higher education ecosystems. This systematic literature review aims to synthesize current evidence on the educational implications of GenAI by examining its influence on teaching transformation, student learning, assessment redesign, and academic integrity governance. Following the PRISMA framework, relevant studies were systematically identified, screened, and analyzed to reveal emerging patterns, challenges, and future research directions in GenAI adoption within higher education. The synthesis revealed four interconnected themes: (1) transformation of teaching practices through AI-supported instructional design and efficiency improvement, (2) enhancement of student learning through personalization and self-regulated learning support, (3) evolution of assessment toward authentic and competency-oriented approaches, and (4) development of institutional governance frameworks addressing ethical, privacy, transparency, and integrity concerns. The findings indicate that successful GenAI integration requires a balanced approach combining technological capability, pedagogical redesign, and responsible governance. This review contributes to Artificial Intelligence in Education (AIED) research by proposing an integrated perspective for sustainable GenAI adoption and identifying priorities for future empirical investigations.

Abstract

Sexual violence committed by medical professionals within healthcare settings presents a complex legal challenge, blending criminal conduct with the abuse of professional authority and institutional trust. This study analyzes the criminal liability of Specialist Medical Education Program (PPDS) physicians in sexual violence crimes, focusing on the judicial reasoning in Bandung District Court Decision Number 669/Pid.Sus/2025/PN Bdg. Employing a normative juridical method with statutory, conceptual, and case approaches, this research examines the intersection of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Sexual Violence Crimes (UU TPKS), Law Number 17 of 2023 concerning Health, and the doctrine of criminal responsibility (geen straf zonder schuld).  The findings reveal that the defendant’s dual status as a medical trainee and healthcare provider does not constitute a legal defense or ground for eliminating criminal liability. All statutory elements of sexual violence were fulfilled, accompanied by proven intentionality (dolus), criminal capacity (toerekeningsvatbaarheid), and the absence of exculpatory grounds. Crucially, the court operationalized unequal power relations and the abuse of professional trust as aggravating contextual factors rather than mere background facts. This study concludes that professional medical status entails heightened legal obligations rather than criminal immunity, emphasizing the necessity of integrating criminal prosecution with institutional oversight and victim-centered safeguards in teaching hospitals.

Abstract

Medical personnel serving in conflict-affected areas face risks of violence, security threats, and disruptions to healthcare delivery that may endanger their safety while simultaneously undermining the continued realization of the population’s right to health. Indonesia has established a legal basis for protection through national health law and International Humanitarian Law; however, a gap remains between normative guarantees and protection that can be effectively implemented in practice. This study aims to construct an integrated legal protection model for medical personnel in conflict-affected areas of Indonesia. It employs a qualitative approach with a socio-legal research design based on document analysis and online sources. Data were obtained from legislation and regulations, institutional documents, scholarly literature, reports issued by national and international organizations, and credible online news sources, and were subsequently analyzed using qualitative thematic content analysis and source triangulation. The findings indicate that the principal challenge in protecting medical personnel lies not merely in the absence of legal norms, but in the lack of integration among protection mechanisms before, during, and after deployment. This study develops a continuum of legal protection that connects risk assessment, security measures, deployment protocols, reporting and early-warning systems, legal assistance, victim recovery, investigation, and accountability across four dimensions: preventive, operational, remedial, and accountability protection. The model shifts the orientation of protection from a reactive and fragmented approach toward a preventive, continuous, and human-centered system. Strengthening its implementation requires operational regulations and inter-agency coordination to safeguard medical personnel while ensuring the continuity of healthcare services in conflict-affected areas.
