Abstract

This study explores student behavior in waste management at SMA Negeri 1 Jayapura, Indonesia, focusing on how knowledge, attitudes, social norms, and environmental factors influence sustainable waste practices. Using a qualitative descriptive design, the research gathered data through interviews, observations, and document analysis involving 20 students and four school staff members. Results revealed a discrepancy between students’ awareness of environmental cleanliness and their actual behavior, primarily influenced by inadequate infrastructure, limited monitoring, and inconsistent social modeling. The findings confirm the applicability of Ajzen’s Theory of Planned Behavior and Bandura’s Social Cognitive Theory in explaining how internal motivations interact with environmental and social contexts to shape pro-environmental actions. The study concludes that effective environmental education requires integrating experiential learning, peer influence, and cultural contextualization. Practical implications highlight the need for improved school facilities, participatory programs, and sustainable education policies to strengthen waste management practices in schools and foster long-term ecological responsibility among students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of multicultural education on the tolerance attitudes of class VIII students at the UPTD of SMP Negeri 16 Kupang City in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. The research used a quantitative approach with a simple linear regression method. The population was 163 eighth-grade students, and the sample size was 42 students using proportionate stratified random sampling. The research instruments were a multicultural education questionnaire and a student tolerance attitude questionnaire, both of which were tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 27. The results of the study indicate a positive influence of multicultural education on students' tolerance attitudes with a significance value of 0.020 < 0.05. The coefficient of determination (R Square) value is 0.128, which means that multicultural education contributes 12.8% to students' tolerance attitudes, while 87.2% is influenced by other factors outside this study. The conclusion of this study is that multicultural education has an impact on increasing students' tolerance at SMP Negeri 16, Kupang City. Therefore, the school, subject teachers, and guidance and counseling teachers are expected to integrate multicultural values ​​into the learning process and counseling services, thereby creating an inclusive, harmonious, and respectful learning environment for differences.

Abstract

Education is the most important thing and plays a role in advancing the fate of a nation. Education is also the learning of knowledge, skills and habits from a group of individuals starting from generation to generation. The point is that education consists of a series of activities from one individual to another individual or in groups with guidance so that children grow and develop optimally independently and responsibly. This research aims to improve creative thinking skills, namely the discovery learning model, by implementing an experimental method. The results of the study show that 1) there is a difference in the learning outcomes of science students who use the Discovery Learning model higher than those who learn using the conventional model. 2) There is an interaction between the discovery learning model and the conventional learning model reviewed from critical thinking on students' science learning outcomes. 3) There is a difference in the learning outcomes of science students who have high critical thinking skills who learn using the discovery learning model are higher than students who study with the conventional learning model. 4) There is a difference in the learning outcomes of science students who have low critical thinking who learn using the discovery learning model higher than students who study with the conventional learning model.

Abstract

This research investigated the impact of the Who Is It game on enhancing students' speaking skills at MTS Swasta Darul Ulum Budi Agung Medan. It was driven by the challenges students faced in acquiring grammar, vocabulary, and fluency in English communication. The study explored whether incorporating game-based learning could create a more engaging classroom dynamic and boost students' self-assurance and enthusiasm for speaking. Employing a quantitative methodology with a quasi-experimental framework, the study involved 66 participants split into two groups: 30 in the experimental group, who received instruction via the Who Is It game, and 36 in the control group, who followed traditional teaching approaches. Data collection relied on pre-test and post-test evaluations of speaking performance, assessed using Brown’s (2004) rubric. Statistical analysis included tests for normality, homogeneity, and an independent samples t-test. The outcomes showed that the experimental group attained a higher average post-test score (84.00) compared to the control group (75.53), with a significance level of Sig. (0.000) below 0.05, demonstrating a notable advancement in speaking abilities through the game. These results imply that the game successfully improves speaking proficiency by encouraging active participation, alleviating speaking apprehension, and establishing a supportive and pleasurable learning setting. Consequently, educators are advised to adopt interactive games as a viable method to strengthen communicative skills in English as a foreign language classrooms.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the relationship between natural phenomena as reflected in the Natural Phenomena in the Systematic Pattern of the Fibonacci Sequence and Fractal Patterns in the Context of Philosophy of Education, particularly in the aspects of ontology, epistemology, and axiology in mathematics learning. The types of research used are descriptive research and library research. The findings in this article are that mathematical concepts such as the Fibonacci sequence and fractal patterns can be integrated into philosophy-based education learning. Natural patterns such as the Fibonacci sequence and fractals in mathematics teaching not only deepen the understanding of mathematical concepts ontologically but also enrich the reasoning process (epistemologically) and learning values (axiologically). This integration contributes to more contextual, relevant, and meaningful learning. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of applying structured educational philosophy in mathematics teaching through the exploration of natural phenomena, thereby encouraging the development of students' understanding and critical thinking skills. This study recommends strengthening the integration of educational philosophy aspects in mathematics material through a systematic study of natural phenomena

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of production inputs on the income growth of corn farmers in Tanah Karo Regency. The research method used a quantitative approach, with 50 corn farmers as respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using simple linear regression. The results showed that production inputs (capital, seeds, fertilizer, and labor) had a positive and significant effect on increasing corn farmers' income. The coefficient of determination of 0.682 indicates that 68.2% of income variation is influenced by production inputs.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi integrasi pelatihan seni tradisional dan literasi digital sebagai pendekatan pembelajaran transformatif dalam pendidikan modern. Dilaksanakan di Desa Corawali, Kecamatan Panca Lautang, Kabupaten Sidenreng Rappang, penelitian ini berfokus pada Sanggar Sastra dan Seni Budaya Masumange, sebuah komunitas seni dan budaya lokal yang terdiri dari 35 anggota aktif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah bagaimana praktik seni tradisional—seperti musik, tari, dan kerajinan lokal—dapat direvitalisasi dan dipertahankan melalui penerapan keterampilan literasi digital, termasuk dokumentasi multimedia, promosi daring, dan pembuatan konten digital. Dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara, observasi, dan keterlibatan partisipatif dalam kegiatan seni komunitas. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa integrasi alat digital dalam pelatihan seni tradisional tidak hanya meningkatkan kreativitas dan kompetensi teknologi anggota, tetapi juga memperkuat identitas budaya serta transfer pengetahuan antar generasi. Selain itu, program ini mendorong pemberdayaan komunitas dengan memungkinkan anggota menampilkan karya seni mereka melalui platform digital, sehingga meningkatkan visibilitas dan potensi peluang ekonomi.Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa penggabungan pendidikan seni tradisional dengan literasi digital merupakan strategi efektif untuk pembelajaran transformatif, menjembatani kearifan lokal dengan inovasi global. Pendekatan ini dapat dijadikan model bagi komunitas budaya lain yang ingin melestarikan warisan budaya sekaligus beradaptasi dengan era digital.

Abstract

This study explores English Department students' perceptions of using the Falou application to improve their English speaking skills through a descriptive qualitative approach. Three students from the English Department at Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara in Medan, North Sumatra, were selected using purposive sampling and interviewed using semi-structured interviews to examine their experiences with the application. Grounded in Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) theoretical framework, the research addressed three key questions: students' perceptions of Falou's effectiveness, the most beneficial features, and challenges encountered during usage. Data analysis using thematic analysis revealed predominantly positive perceptions, with participants reporting increased confidence and improved speaking practice opportunities. The most effective features identified were pronunciation training with immediate feedback (94.4% positive rating), oral practice sessions with progressive structure (88.9%), conversation simulations providing realistic scenarios (88.9%), and comprehensive speaking assessments (77.8%). However, participants also faced significant technical challenges including audio quality fluctuations (61.1% reported concerns), network connectivity issues (61.1%), voice recognition delays (mixed ratings with only 38.9% positive), and severely limited offline access capabilities (only 5.6% found it adequate). The findings suggest that while mobile applications like Falou offer promising opportunities for autonomous English speaking practice among Indonesian university students, successful implementation requires robust technical infrastructure, comprehensive user support, and pedagogical design that addresses diverse learner needs in developing country contexts where internet connectivity remains inconsistent

Abstract

This research examines how the Webtoon application influences students’ vocabulary mastery. A quasi-experimental design was applied to two tenth-grade classes (MP 1 and RPL 2) at SMK Swasta PAB 2 Helvetia, involving a total of 40 students who were separated into an experimental class and a control class. The experimental group learned vocabulary through the Webtoon application, while the control group received instruction using conventional printed materials. Vocabulary assessments were administered as pre-test and post-test to determine students’ progress. The results demonstrated that the experimental group achieved a noticeably higher improvement, with an average post-test score of 76.60 compared to 59.20 in the control group. The paired sample test obtained a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that the use of Webtoon had a meaningful and significant impact on students’ vocabulary development. Therefore, Webtoon, as a digital comic-based learning medium, is considered effective in providing contextual vocabulary exposure and enhancing student engagement, making it a suitable digital tool to support English vocabulary learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent to which the Focusky application influences the Indonesian language learning outcomes of Grade VII students at SMPN 3 Pitu Riase. The research employed a quantitative deductive methodology. This type of research used a one-group pretest-posttest design and was quasi-experimental in nature. Instead of using a control group, the study examined students’ learning outcomes before and after using the Focusky media. Pretest and posttest assessments were used to collect the data.The findings of the study revealed that students’ scores improved after using the Focusky media. In the posttest, the highest score increased to 90 and the lowest to 45, while in the pretest, the highest score was 55 and the lowest was 25. These results indicate that the use of the Focusky application can enhance students’ learning outcomes. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Focusky application effectively improves students’ achievement in Indonesian language learning.
