Abstract

As an effort to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic, the government issued a policy asking every school to ask its students to study at home. This research aims to describe the use of digital media as an alternative learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method carried out with a qualitative approach. The data collection technique used was through in-depth interviews. Data analysis techniques use descriptive analysis techniques. The research results show that media use digital used in the learning process on line At SDN Banjaragung 2 during the Covid-19 pandemic, from grade one to grade six, they predominantly used social media whatsapp by taking advantage of all the features it contains. Learning at SDN Banjaragung 2 also utilizes YouTube media to support material that is sometimes difficult to understand. Meanwhile, specifically for sixth grade students, there is additional digital media used in their learning, namely using mediaZoom Cloud Meetings.MediaZoom Cloud MeetingsThis is only used by sixth grade students, namely twice a week due to limited circumstances and takes up too much quota.

Abstract

Writing is one of language ability which many students stated it as the most difficult ability. One of the reason is because of the lack of vocabulary. Meanwhile, vocabulary is the most important thing to master in learning language. Therefore this research aimed to find out the correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and students’ writing ability. The population was 78 students and the sample taken by using Yamane formula were 62 students. This research used quantitative research method. The data was collected through pre-test and post-test. Each test contained 20 questions; ten questions of vocabulary and ten questions of writing. The tests carried out validity, reliability, normality, homogeneity, linearity, and t-test. All tests were counted by SPSS 16.0 application. Based on the descriptive statistics, the mean score of pre-test were 57.74 and the post-test score mean was higher; 78.79. The correlation result was r-count 0.527 > r-table 0.254 with significance value five percent. It meant H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. Besides, the significance level of this correlation was 0.527; it was included to average level. Based on the finding, the conclusion was there was correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and students’ writing ability.

Abstract

The aims of the of this study is to find empirical evidence that storytelling technique can enhance students’ speaking ability at tenth grade of MA Bidayatul Hidayah. The total sample was 40 students. The method used of the research was quasi-experimental. The researcher chose the method because she wanted to know the effectiveness of storytelling technique in enhancing student’s speaking skill. The method used was quantitative. It means the method and instrument involved numerical measurement and then statistical quantification. the students’ speaking skill in experimental class that were given by the treatment through storytelling were improved more effectively than the control group. The conclusion storytelling is effective to be applied in teaching speaking skill. It can develop confidence, vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension.
