Abstract

Language is not merely a system of rules but a social tool deeply embedded in context. In language education, especially for prospective primary school teachers (PGSD students), it is crucial to foster not only grammatical proficiency but also communicative competence, which includes pragmatic and sociocultural awareness. This article aims to explore the integration of sociolinguistic approaches in language learning as an innovative pedagogical model to enhance students' critical thinking and communicative competence. Using a qualitative descriptive method through literature review, this study gathers and analyzes academic documents from reputable databases such as Google Scholar. Thematic content analysis was employed to identify patterns and key concepts. The findings show that implementing sociolinguistic-based learning—such as authentic discourse analysis, role-playing, and discussions on language variation—effectively improves students' understanding of language variation, register, politeness, and contextually appropriate language use. These strategies also foster pragmatic and sociocultural competence. The study concludes that sociolinguistics plays a pivotal role in bridging linguistic knowledge and practical communication skills, thus preparing students for real-world language use in diverse social contexts.

Abstract

Critical thinking and problem-solving are essential skills for 21st-century learners, yet traditional pedagogies often emphasize rote memorization over cognitive engagement. Deep Learning (DL) technologies offer adaptive, personalized feedback and learning environments that can bridge this gap. This study examines how DL, when integrated with sociolinguistic principles, can enhance students’ critical thinking and problem-solving competencies in primary education. Employing a qualitative, descriptive design through literature review, peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and books were sourced via Google Scholar, using thematic content analysis to distill implementation strategies, outcomes, and challenges. Findings indicate that DL-supported activities—such as authentic discourse analysis, role-playing with linguistic registers, and interactive problem-based tasks—promote metacognitive awareness, communicative flexibility, and pragmatic competence. Students demonstrated improved reasoning skills, confidence in communication, and awareness of sociocultural language variation. However, infrastructure limitations and teacher preparedness remain challenges. The study concludes that DL enriched by sociolinguistic insights forms a robust pedagogical approach, preparing students for complex, real-world communication demands.

Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesian primary schools emphasizes student-centered learning and personalized instruction, with Differentiated Learning (DL) being a core pedagogical approach. DL, which requires teachers to proactively modify content, process, product, and learning environment (Tomlinson, 2014), is fundamentally reliant on accurate and comprehensive data gathered through Diagnostic Assessment (DA). DA serves as the vital initial step, informing teachers about students’ readiness, interests, and learning profiles. However, integrating DA results—especially non-cognitive and affective data—into complex differentiated planning presents significant practical challenges for primary school teachers amidst demanding administrative and teaching loads. This review addresses the practical gap between policy requirement and classroom implementation.

Abstract

Scouting (Kepramukaan) is mandated in Indonesia as an essential co-curricular activity for character education, leadership development, and fostering nationalism. The success of this program critically relies on genuine student interest, which can be influenced by both internal (psychological) and external (environmental) factors. Low engagement often reduces the effectiveness of character-building objectives. Therefore, this study aims to specifically identify and analyze the dominant factors influencing student interest at the elementary school level, particularly at SDN 1 Bakan. Using a (Specify: Qualitative/Quantitative) approach, the research investigates the impact of internal factors such as self-motivation, and external factors like the role of the instructors (Pembina), program variety, and parental support. The results of this analysis are crucial for providing practical recommendations to the school and the instructors to optimize the design and execution of the Scouting program, ensuring it is more engaging, relevant, and effective in achieving its goal of holistic student character development.
