Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of ta’dīb in the philosophy of education proposed by Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas and its relevance to the crisis of adab in modern education. The crisis of modern education is not merely related to technical-pedagogical issues but is rooted in epistemological and ontological problems resulting from the dominance of secular, positivistic, and utilitarian paradigms that separate knowledge from spiritual and moral values. This research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach. Primary data were obtained from the works of Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas, particularly Islam and Secularism and The Concept of Education in Islam, while secondary data were collected from relevant books, journals, and scholarly articles. Data were analyzed using a descriptive-analytical method with philosophical and hermeneutical approaches to understand the epistemological, ontological, and axiological dimensions of the concept of ta’dīb. The findings reveal that ta’dīb represents an integrative and holistic concept of Islamic education, positioning adab as the core of education in shaping a civilized human being (insān ādabī). This concept emphasizes not only the acquisition of knowledge but also the development of moral character, spirituality, and ontological awareness in relation to God, humanity, and nature. Furthermore, ta’dīb demonstrates strong relevance in addressing the problems of secularization, the dichotomy of knowledge, and moral degradation in modern education through the integration of knowledge and values within the framework of tawḥīd. Therefore, ta’dīb can be regarded as a relevant and transformative paradigm of Islamic education in responding to the crisis of adab in the modern era.

Student leadership is an important aspect of character development in schools and can be strengthened through Islamic Spiritual Activities (Rohis) and moral guidance programs. This study aims to analyze the influence of Rohis activities and moral guidance on student leadership at MAN Berau. The research employed a quantitative approach with a multiple linear regression method involving students participating in Rohis activities and moral guidance programs, with data collected through questionnaires, observations, and documentation and analyzed using SPSS. The results showed that Rohis activities and moral guidance significantly influence student leadership both partially and simultaneously, with a coefficient of determination (R Square) of 0.611, indicating that 61.1% of student leadership is explained by these two variables.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a transformative-humanistic supervision model based on local wisdom values for teacher professional development in the Merdeka Belajar era. Islamic education supervision has shifted from a control-based approach toward a professional development model that is more humanistic, democratic, participatory, and reflective. This research uses a literature study method with a descriptive-qualitative approach through analysis of books and scholarly articles related to educational supervision, humanistic approaches, local wisdom, and Merdeka Belajar policy. The findings indicate that control-based supervision tends to suppress teacher agency, shape a defensive professional identity, and reduce pedagogical initiative. Conversely, dialogic and trust-based supervision strengthens teacher agency, shapes a reflective professional identity, and encourages pedagogical courage. The integration of Indonesian local wisdom values such as gotong royong (mutual cooperation) and musyawarah (deliberation) with modern supervision approaches creates a distinctive supervision model that is contextual and culturally relevant. The incorporation of local values such as gotong royong (mutual cooperation), musyawarah (deliberation), and tolerance in both intraclass activities and the Pancasila Student Profile strengthening projects contributes to contextual character development among students. This study concludes that the transformative-humanistic supervision model based on local wisdom values can effectively enhance teacher professionalism while maintaining cultural identity in the Merdeka Belajar era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of patience values, gratitude values, and conflict management on harmony among students at SMAN 17 Segulung. This research employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory design. The population of the study consisted of all students of SMAN 17 Segulung, with the sample determined using proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires developed using a Likert scale, while data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics 26. The results showed that gratitude values had a positive and significant effect on harmony among students (p < 0.05). Conflict management also had a positive and significant effect on harmony among students (p < 0.05). In contrast, patience values showed a positive but not partially significant effect (p > 0.05). Simultaneously, patience values, gratitude values, and conflict management had a significant effect on harmony among students, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.752. These findings indicate that harmony among students is influenced not only by social skills but also by religious character developed within students. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating character education and social skill development in creating a harmonious and conducive school environment.

Abstract

The rapid transformation of global society in the era of digitalization, artificial intelligence, and complex humanitarian challenges requires Islamic organizations to strengthen their ideological foundations while maintaining relevance to contemporary issues. Muhammadiyah, as one of the largest modern Islamic movements in the world, possesses a fundamental ideological document known as Matan Keyakinan dan Cita-cita Hidup Muhammadiyah (MKCH), which contains its theological beliefs, organizational orientation, and social ideals. However, MKCH has often been interpreted merely as a normative and historical document, limiting its potential as a dynamic paradigm for Muhammadiyah’s second century. This study aims to analyze the position of MKCH within Muhammadiyah’s intellectual framework, examine its relationship with the concept of Progressive Islam (Islam Berkemajuan), and formulate a reconstruction model of MKCH as an epistemological-operational paradigm. Employing a qualitative approach with library research and critical content analysis, the study utilizes official Muhammadiyah documents and Scopus-indexed scholarly literature as primary sources. The findings reveal that MKCH encompasses three interrelated dimensions: theological, epistemological, and practical. These dimensions constitute the foundation of Progressive Islam and support the reconstruction of MKCH through the reinterpretation of tawhid as social ethics, the strengthening of tajdid as a continuous renewal mechanism, and the transformation of da‘wah through empowerment and innovation. The study concludes that MKCH functions as an ideological constant that bridges Islamic values with contemporary social, digital, and humanitarian transformations, thereby reinforcing Muhammadiyah’s role as a progressive Islamic movement in its second century.
