Abstract

This study examines the integration of Islamic values and practical skills in Muhammadiyah education as an effort to create a competent and character-driven generation in the era of globalization. Muhammadiyah education, rooted in the thoughts of KH. Ahmad Dahlan, promotes the concept of integration between religious and worldly knowledge, aiming to produce individuals who are not only academically intelligent but also possess high morals. This study uses a qualitative library approach with a literature analysis method to explore and analyze how Muhammadiyah developed a curriculum that combines these two aspects. The findings indicate that this integration is crucial for producing graduates who are ready to face global challenges, by balancing religious knowledge and practical skills relevant to the needs of the times. Furthermore, this study emphasizes the importance of a holistic approach in education, which focuses not only on cognitive aspects but also on character development and social skills. Thus, Muhammadiyah education has the potential to become a model in creating a young generation ready to compete globally while adhering to strong religious values.

Abstract

This study aims to reflect on and reconstruct inclusive education as an ethical–humanistic practice from the perspective of Islamic educational philosophy within the context of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah through a systematic literature study. The research employed content analysis of selected primary and secondary sources, including reputable national and international journal articles, classical Islamic educational texts, and relevant educational policy documents. Literature selection was conducted purposively based on relevance, academic credibility, and recency, while data validity was ensured through source triangulation. The findings formulate a conceptual framework termed Tauhidic Inclusion, which integrates three interrelated dimensions: the vertical dimension (tawhid as a spiritual–ontological foundation of human equality), the horizontal dimension (‘adl as a principle of equitable access and educational justice), and the relational dimension (rahmah as the basis of empathetic and humanistic pedagogy). This framework positions inclusive education not merely as a technical accommodation strategy for learner diversity, but as an ethical and humanistic educational paradigm rooted in Islamic values. Theoretically, this study contributes to the discourse of Islamic education by offering an integrative philosophical model of inclusion that bridges Islamic thought and contemporary inclusion theory. Practically, it provides conceptual guidance for the development of inclusive learning practices, curriculum design, and madrasah culture in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. This study is limited by its reliance on literature-based analysis and its focus on the primary level of Islamic education. The originality of this research lies in reconstructing inclusive education through an Islamic philosophical lens, integrating classical Islamic scholarship with modern inclusion theory in a manner rarely explored in Indonesian educational literature

Abstract

Parents' role as murobbi plays a strategic role in maintaining the continuity of character formation in students, particularly during vacations when students return to their families. Vacations are a critical period due to changes in the environment, routines, and supervision systems that can potentially weaken the internalization of character values developed in Islamic boarding schools. This study aims to analyze the role of parents as murobbi, the parenting strategies implemented during vacations, and the supporting and inhibiting factors in character formation in students. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study conducted at Al-Kaaffah Islamic Boarding School, Kuningan, West Java. Data were collected through participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation studies with informants including parents, boarding school administrators, and students. Data analysis was conducted interactively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, using triangulation techniques to maintain data validity. The research findings indicate that parents who actively fulfill the role of murobbi (leaders) are able to maintain the continuity of their students' character through role models, religious supervision, instilling discipline, and ongoing educational communication. However, variations in parental commitment and readiness are inhibiting factors in the sustainability of character development. This research emphasizes the importance of strengthening synergy between Islamic boarding schools and families in maintaining the ongoing character education of students.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the concept of tajdid in Muhammadiyah education and formulate a model of curriculum reconstruction based on values. The change in the curriculum in Muhammadiyah reflects the tendency to adopt a technocratic national curriculum. This study uses a qualitative approach with a conceptual-critical study design combined with historical and philosophical studies. Data analysis was carried out using qualitative content analysis and thematic analysis sourced from books, articles from SINTA-indexed national journals. 1. Muhammadiyah education is expected not to be closed to change, but still maintain its identity and basic values that are its characteristics. 2. Muhammadiyah education functions as a strategic instrument for the formation of a progressive Muslim generation with character. 3. The reconstruction of this curriculum is a strategic step to maintain the quality, competitiveness, and uniqueness of Muhammadiyah education in the midst of the dynamics of national and global education. These findings show that tajdid values in Muhammadiyah education are not just normative discourses, but must be the main paradigm in curriculum development.

Abstract

The development of the digital era has significant implications for the educational process, particularly in the formation of student character. On the one hand, technology offers easy access to information and pedagogical innovation; on the other hand, it raises serious challenges in the form of moral value degradation, spiritual crisis, and character disorientation. This article aims to analyze and compare the thoughts of Abdullah Nashih Ulwan and Maria Montessori regarding the integration of spiritual dimensions and modern pedagogy in the formation of student character, and their relevance in the digital era. This study uses a qualitative approach based on library research with content analysis methods on the main works of both figures and relevant supporting literature. The results show that Abdullah Nashih Ulwan emphasizes a spiritual-transcendental foundation based on faith, morals, and exemplary values as the core of character education, while Maria Montessori prioritizes a humanistic pedagogical approach that is child-centered, directed freedom, and a conducive learning environment. Although originating from different epistemological and cultural backgrounds, both thoughts have a common point in the orientation of the formation of the whole person (holistic human development). This study contributes theoretically by offering an integrative framework between spirituality and modern pedagogy, and practically provides a conceptual basis for the development of a character education model that is adaptive to the challenges of the digital era without losing its ethical and spiritual dimensions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the relationship between students’ perceptions of teachers’ pedagogical competence and students’ learning outcomes in the subject of Akhlak at KMI PI of Al Ishlah Islamic Boarding School, Bondowoso. The research employed a quantitative approach with an associative correlational design. The sample consisted of 60 students selected through purposive sampling. Data on perceptions of pedagogical competence were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire, while data on learning outcomes were obtained from documentation of Akhlak subject scores. Relationship analysis was conducted using Spearman Rank correlation (SPSS 25), while simple linear regression was used as a supplementary analysis to identify the trend of the relationship. The results showed a Spearman correlation coefficient of 0.728 with a significance level of p < 0.001, indicating a positive, strong, and significant relationship between students’ perceptions of teachers’ pedagogical competence and Akhlak learning outcomes. Regression analysis revealed an R Square value of 0.522, indicating that 52.2% of the variance in learning outcomes can be explained by students’ perceptions of teachers’ pedagogical competence. In conclusion, the better students’ perceptions of teachers’ pedagogical competence, the higher the Akhlak learning outcomes achieved. Therefore, strengthening teachers’ pedagogical competence should be a key focus in improving the quality of Akhlak instruction within the pesantren environment.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of uswah hasanah in Surah Al-Ahzab verse 21 as a theological and pedagogical foundation for prophetic moral education in Islam. The background of this research is the global moral crisis, marked by the rise of individualism, materialism, and the reduction of education to a merely technical-cognitive process that neglects ethical and spiritual dimensions. The objective of this research is to analyze the theological and pedagogical dimensions of uswah hasanah, to explore the relevance of Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ moral values in the context of modern Islamic education, and to formulate a prophetic educational model that is responsive to the challenges of globalization and digitalization. This study employs a qualitative approach based on a literature review, using content analysis of classical Ahlussunnah wal Jama‘ah tafsir, classical Islamic educational works, and contemporary educational literature. The findings indicate that uswah hasanah embodies three main dimensions of prophetic education: the spiritual dimension (tazkiyah al-nafs), the moral dimension (ta’dib), and the social dimension (mas’uliyyah insaniyyah). The Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ exemplary character is understood not merely as a normative principle but as a pedagogical paradigm that integrates faith (iman), knowledge (‘ilm), and action (‘amal) in the character formation process. This study emphasizes the need to reorient Islamic education from an instructional-cognitive approach toward character development grounded in the lived example of the Prophet. Practically, this research proposes a prophetic education model that positions the teacher as a living example (uswah amaliyah), integrates prophetic values into the curriculum, and fosters a cultured, ethical educational environment in response to the contemporary moral crisis.

Abstract

The development of science and technology in modern life has significantly influenced human quality of life. However, without moral and spiritual foundations, such progress may generate ethical and humanitarian challenges. Islam views science and technology not merely as instruments for mastering nature, but also as a trust (amanah) and a means of drawing closer to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta‘ala. This study aims to examine the Islamic perspective on science and technology, analyze the concept of maslahah as an orientation for their development, and explain how science and technology can function as forms of devotion to Allah. This research employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method, drawing on primary Islamic sources and relevant scholarly works. The findings indicate that Islam emphasizes a balanced integration of rational, ethical, and spiritual dimensions in the development of science and technology. The principle of maslahah, aligned with the maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, serves as a key ethical framework to ensure that scientific and technological advancement contributes to human well-being, social justice, and spiritual responsibility

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of bullying behavior experienced by Prophet Yusuf at the hands of his siblings as recorded in Surah Yusuf, and to interpret the ethical and spiritual values embedded in the narrative through a library research approach. The data were obtained from classical and contemporary Qur’anic exegesis, developmental psychology literature, and thematic studies of the Qur’an, and were analyzed using thematic tafsir and an analysis of the social context of the family. The findings indicate that the intimidation of Prophet Yusuf stemmed from jealousy, distorted perceptions, and the moral immaturity of his siblings, which subsequently led to conspiratorial actions, social exclusion, and psychological violence. The study further highlights that Prophet Yusuf’s responses marked by patience, spiritual steadfastness, and forgiveness constitute an ethical foundation that remains relevant for strengthening character education and preventing bullying within both family settings and educational institutions. This research contributes theoretically to the study of family ethics and Qur’anic values, while also opening avenues for further empirical research to enrich understanding and application in contemporary educational contexts.
