Abstract

Teacher beliefs for conceptualisations of feedback should facilitate pupil development. However, to what extent does the conception of feedback in assessment for learning influence pupil aspirations as commanded by the Malaysian Education Development Plan? Thus, this study is conducted to explore the degree of influence of the conceptions of feedback factors on Pupil Aspiration. A survey research design is used in this study using a self-report inventory on feedback conceptions and pupil aspirations. The participants involved are 490 student teachers who have completed their teaching practical in the government schools in their previous semester. The feedback conception inventory adapted from the Teacher Conceptions of Feedback (TCoF) is used to measure the conception of feedback and the instrument for Pupil Aspiration is developed by the researchers. A structural equation modelling software, the Analysis of Moment Structures was used to test the hypothesized relationship. The analysis involves two-stage approach. Results of the study indicated that the proposed model was supported, and thus revealing that feedback conceptions was associated with Pupil Aspirations. Ten inter-correlated constructs had good psychometric properties. All the nine constructs of feedback conceptions loaded positively on pupil aspirations. The findings will give rise to further hypotheses which could close the gap of the research.

Abstract

This research was aimed at improving the ability and skill of the student in Class 4A 1 inDepartment of Indonesia Education, Faculty of Language and arts, State University ofYogyakarta (KIP Yogyakarta) in developing texts in general, and specially narration in goodand correct Indonesian. It was expected that the students, then, would not find any difficultieswhen one day they had to write texts, especially those assigned by then lectures. The problemwas in this action research, that is, how effectiveness approach and tecnichque was used toimproving ability and skill of the students in developing narration texts. This problem wasdoing that, because in the beginning condition was known that students were still low to writeabout those texts.This classroom action research was comes out by applying was constructed an actionprogrammed, and it was divided into four cycles, and each cycle consisted of three steps oraction. Therefore, each cycle consisted of twelve steps or teaching-learning processes, and thenumber of the whole action was 12 times. The training for developing the texts was carried outby applying an approach eclectic or technique eclectic, those are it consisted several approachesand techniques. The approach was applied: integrative approach, practicum approach, anddemocratic approach, approach that gave attention to student's need. Mean while, the strategyor technique were applied: talkative technique, discussion technique, giving task technique,feedback technique, and cross correction technique.The result of the action research were: the first the actions carried out for developingnarration texts could improve the ability and skill of the students in developing texts, especiallythe narration texts. This could be seen from the data that out of 18 students, only two studentscould develop narration texts. After the action, all of them could develop narration texts.second: the approachesltechnique used in the action could improve the ability and the skill ofthe students in developing narration. Conclusion of this action research, that is the is ability andskill students to wrote narration texts were improve with the classroom action research.

Abstract

This article is about a research whose objectives are (1) to identify the factors causing teachers not to use the environment as a learning resource, (2) to discover the learning prosess of social sciences by developing environmental learning resources, (3) to discover the learning pattern in learning social sciences at elemntary school by developing environment learning resources, (4) to increase the process skill in learning social science, (5) to discover to class model of environmental advantages as a learning resource of social sciences, and (6) to increase student learning outcame in learning social sciences.This research used an approach employing an actian research conducted by PGSD lecturers collaboratively and elementary school teachers as partners. The calss action design employed spiraling cycles.

Abstract

Keberhasilan rnahasiswa daIarn proses bell\iar rnengajar rnenjadi acuan daIarn penyelenggaraanpendidikan. Berbagai upayadilakukan untuk rnenemukan faktor pernicu (triggeringfactor) keberhasilan rnahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji ernpiris apakah pengalaman rnengajar (teaching experience), jenjang pendidikan (education level), dan partisipasi dalam proses pengarnbilan keputusan (participative decision making) staf pengajar, mernpengaruhi hasil beIajar mahasiswa (student outcomes) di JurusanAkuntansi pada Perguruan Tinggi Swasta di Yogyakarta. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan semi open ended questioner yang sebelumnya telah diujicobakan dan ditest validitas dan reIiabiIitasnya. Sarnpel penelitian diarnbil dari seluruh dosen yang rnengajar pada perguruan tinggi swasta pada Jurusan Akuntansi di DIY dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Hipotesis diuji dengan rnenggunakan teknik analisis regresi linear. Sebelurn dilakukan pengujian hipotesis, terIebih dahulu dilakukan uji prasyarat analisis yang meliputi uji normalitas, uji rnuitikolinearitas, uji linearitas. Berdasarkan hasil analisis diperoleh kesimpulan tiga hal, yakni (I) pengalaman mengajar (teaching experience) danjenjang pendidikan (education level) tidak berpengaruh terhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa, yang ditunjukkan dengan nilai F sebesar 0.9980 dengan tingkat signifikansi 37.2% jauh berada di atas tingkat signifikansi yang dipersyaratkan (5%), (2) partisipasi dosen dalam proses pengambilan keputusan (participative decision making) berpengaruh terhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa. Hal ini didasarkan pada nilai F sebesar 4.406 dengan tingkat signifikansi 3.8% berada dibawah tingkat signifikansi yang dipersyaratkan (5%), (3) secara bersama"sama pengalaman mengajar (teaching experience),jenjang pendidikan (education level), dan partisipasi dosen dalam proses pengambilan keputusan (participative decision making) tidak berpengaruh terhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa, yang ditunjukkan dengan nilai F sebesar 1.858 dengan tingkat signifikansi 14.2% jauh berada di atas tingkat signifikansi yang dipersyaratkan (5%). Berdasarkan hasil pene1itian ini direkomendasikan (1) perbaikan gaji dosen harus segera dilakukan oleh pemerintah, (2)pelatihan caramengajaryang baik untuk dosen perguruan tinggi swasta, (3) pimpinan sela1u me1ibatkan dosen dalam setiap proses pengambilan keputusan, dan (4) tipe kepemimpinan demokratis dan struktur organisasi tipe desentralisasi dapat dipakai sebagai salah satu strategi yang efektifuntuk meningkatkan kineIja perguruantinggi. Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini berusaha untuk mengungkap bagaimana guru-guru yang baik melaksanakan kegiatan pembelajaran yang baik di SMA unggulan. Empat dari enam belas guru Bahasa Inggris dari dua SMA unggulan dipilih berdasarkan kriteria standar guru dan kriteria tambahan. Data dikumpulkan melalui dokumentasi, observasi, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa subjek memiliki kesamaan berikut: mereka (1) membangun komunikasi yang baik dengan siswa melalui pemodelan bahasa yang baik; (2) menjelaskan materi dengan cara deduktif dan induktif; (3) memberikan bantuan secara tidak langung; (4) melakukan koreksi kesalahan siswa secara tidak langsung; (5) mengecek pemahaman siswa melalui pertanyaan;(6) memberikan kesempatan kepada siswa untuk selalu terlibat dan praktik menggunakan bahasa Inggris.Kata Kunci : pengajaran bahasa Inggris, sekolah unggulanEFL TEACHING AT GOOD SENIOR HIGH SCHOOLSAbstract: This study investigated how good EFL teachers implemented good EFL teaching activities at exemplary senior high schools. Four out of sixteen EFL teachers from two selected exemplary schools were chosen based on the criteria of the professional teachers’ standard and some additional criteria. The data were collected through documentation, observation, and interviews. The results showed that the subjects had the following in common: they (1) built good communication with their students as a good model of EFL speakers; (2) explained materials through inductive and deductive ways; (3) provided assistance indirectly; (4) corrected students’ errors indirectly; (5) checked students’ understanding through questions; (6) provided language practice and involved students in all classroom activities.Keywords: EFL teaching, good senior high schools

Abstract

Who actually has the duty of delivering sex educationto adolescents? It is not easy to decide who should give sexeducation and how it should be given, because many stilldo not know what sex education really is and how it is implemented.All this time many have assumed that sex is always relatedto coition, reproduction, health, and morals. Some thinkthat sex is something "dirty" and something not proper to be taught in class. This happens because often the thoughts.feelings, and images of sex are obtained from limited andnarrow life experiences. Many receive sex education fromparents, kiends, electronic media, relatives, etc. in variousways that are mostly traditional and incomprehensive. Acomprehensive scope of sex education should cover sociological.psychological, and biological aspects. Every aspecthas other aspects which involve feelings, early concepts,inter-personal relationships, and decisioribmaking. T'neseaspects should be viewed as supporting each other to makea whole and complete sexuality.Understanding sexuality as a totality existing in manwill contribute to the favorable formation of adolescent personalityand encourage responsible inter-personal relationships.Thus, there will be formed in adolescents a system ofvalues which will control their behavior in interacting withtheir environment.

Abstract

Abstract: A Model for the Supervision in the Learning of Physical Education in Elementary School. This study aimed to optimize the functions of principals and supervisors in the improvement of physical education teachers’ performance. It was a research and development study in which the preliminary steps employed the qualitative approach to obtain information on the existing models at present and attempts to develop one. The result of this study showed that the model for the supervision in the learning of physical education significantly affected the performance of physical education teachers in elementary schools. In other words, the model was effective to improve the quality of teachers’ performance and students’ achievement. Keywords: supervision model, performance, physical education

Abstract

This study aimed to reveal (1) the difference in students motivation to learn music, and (2) the difference in the ability to play music between the students taught with creativity elements in learning music and those taught without them. This study employed a pretest-posttest control group design. The data were analyzed by the descriptive technique and t-test. The research subjects were Year V students of SD Negeri Sinduadi, Mlati, Sleman. The research results showed the following. (1) In the experimental group, students motivation to learn music was higher than that in the control group (tobserved = 4.330; p 0.05). It was concluded that there was a difference in students motivation to learn music between those taught with creativity elements in learning music and those taught with the conventional method. (2) In the experimental group, the ability to play music was better than that in the control group. It was concluded that there was a difference in students ability to play music between those taught with creativity elements in learning music and those taught with the conventional method.Keywords: music learning, creativity, motivation
