Abstract

This study aims to examine Ajjaj al-Khatib’s views on the existence and authority of the Sunnah prior to the codification of Hadith, as articulated in his work al-Sunnah Qabla al-Tadwīn. The research adopts a qualitative method using content analysis of primary texts, supplemented by a literature review of related scholarly works. The findings reveal that al-Khatib affirms the presence and normative authority of the Sunnah within the Muslim community from the Prophet’s time until the pre-codification era. This continuity was maintained through oral transmission, the systematic education of the Prophet’s companions, and collective communal practice. The study concludes that al-Khatib presents an alternative narrative of Hadith transmission history through a critical-historical approach, offering a significant response to doubts concerning the authenticity of the Sunnah before its formal codification.

Abstract

Clothing is something that a person wears or wears in various sizes tailored to the needs of the wearer. Clothing can provide a role and meaning in social life, although basically for a Muslim clothing has the main use to cover the aurat. As Muslims we make the Prophet as a role model including dressing for men. The purpose of this study is to determine the quality and understanding of the Hadith on the prohibition of men wearing red and yellow clothes and its correlation with colour psychology. Then it is expected to bring benefits to add insight and understanding. This research is classified as qualitative research of a library nature (Library Research), using the Maudhu'I method or thematic study, which is useful for examining the quality of the hadith and the contextual hadith to determine the understanding of the hadith. For the first step the author traces the hadith in the book Mu'jam al-Mufahras li Alfadz al-Hadis. Then, the source book of the hadith is referred to, after which the takhrij of the hadith is conducted to determine the quality of the traditions studied using the Maudhu'i method. Furthermore, the interpretation of the hadith is done by analysing the understanding of the hadith with a socio-historical approach and understanding its relationship with colour psychology. Regarding the understanding of the Hadith about the prohibition of men wearing red and yellow clothes, the prohibition is not absolute, some of the reasons for the prohibition at that time included imitating the identity of a people such as non-Muslims or women's groups and a form of boasting that was feared to cause arrogance, because psychologically also red and yellow are colours that attract attention around.

Abstract

Lies are words or actions that do not match existing reality. There are verses from the Qur'an and the words of the Prophet Rasulullah which clearly prevent lying, but on the other hand there are hadiths, as well as several histories regarding the ability to make excuses. The purpose of this research is to identify the quality and description of the permitted words of false prophets. After that, it is hoped that it will bring benefits to increase knowledge and understanding so that it can be applied in everyday life. This research is categorized as qualitative research in the form of a bibliography (Library Research), using the Maudhu'i method, which is useful for studying the quality of the prophet's words and explanations of the prophet's words. In the initial stage, the prophet's words were traced in the book Mu' jam al-Mufahras li Alfadz al-Hadith. After that, refer to the source book of the Prophet's sayings, then try to interpret the Prophet's sayings to determine the quality of the hadiths which have been examined using the Maudhu'i method. After that, try to interpret it by analyzing the description of the prophet's words from the related book of Syarah on the Prophet's Sayings to get the first explanation of the 3 permissible views of lying. The hadiths that have been examined are generally the words of the prophet with authentic quality. There are also narrators who have problems with the prophet's words until the prophet's words are hasan, but there are uniform prophet's words which are narrated by Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Mukmin until the prophet's words rise to the level of Sahih Lighairihi. After that, there is an explanation regarding the prohibition against lying, this prohibition is not absolute, because there are 3 situations where it is permissible to make excuses, namely arguing in a limited war, not only a security agreement, arguing to reconcile, such as a believer who is hiding because he is being chased by an unjust person who will kill him. so in this case you have to make excuses to prevent the person, and the husband's lying to his wife is limited to issues that do not invalidate rights. A person's ability to make excuses is related to the circumstances and situations in which it is permissible, if something that is informed is good and can be informed without lies, so in this situation, arguing is taboo. However, if it cannot be conveyed except by making excuses, then in this case lying is required.

Abstract

This paper describes the book 'Ilmu Mushthalah al Hadith written by Mahmud Yunus. This study specifically looks at three main aspects, namely the existence, systematic writing, and analysis of the contents of the book. The findings of the study reveal that at present the book of hadith science written by Mahmud Yunus is not widely used by madrasas and universities. The most basic reason is because the book is written in a simple and incomplete form. Regarding the writing systematics, it is slightly different from other books of 'Ulum al-Hadis. The book consists of 96 pages and about 73 topics. Unfortunately, this book does not contain all topics related to 'Ulum al-Hadith. This book only contains a few topics, and mostly explains terms related to 'Ulum al-Hadith. One interesting point about this book is that Mahmud Yunus has created a special chapter entitled Criticism of Sahihain and Criticism of Ibn Salah's words.

Abstract

The hadith concerning triple divorce in a single pronouncement is one of the legal hadiths that has generated differing views among Islamic scholars. During the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Abu Bakr, and the early caliphate of ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb, such a pronouncement was considered as a single divorce. However, ʿUmar later ruled that it should be counted as three, as a form of contextual ijtihād. This study aims to examine the hadith using Fazlur Rahman’s “double movement” approach, which emphasizes the importance of understanding the historical context of the text while applying the universal ethical values of Islam to contemporary situations. Through this approach, it is found that Islamic law is not static, but open to reform as long as it aligns with the fundamental moral principles of Islam. Fazlur Rahman views this hadith as evidence of the flexibility of Islamic law, which can adapt to the social and moral needs of the community. This study recommends an ethical and historical approach to interpreting legal hadiths in order to produce religious practices that are both relevant and just.

Abstract

Pertumbuhan pesat industri wisata halal di Indonesia mengindikasikan kebutuhan akan integrasi nilai-nilai Islam dalam praktik pariwisata berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis peran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) dalam membentuk etika wisatawan Muslim, khususnya aspek berpakaian, konsumsi halal, dan kepedulian lingkungan dalam konteks wisata religi berkelanjutan. Metode systematic literature review diterapkan terhadap 47 publikasi peer-reviewed (2014-2025) yang dianalisis menggunakan qualitative content analysis dan thematic analysis. Hasil menunjukkan PAI berperan strategis sebagai framework normatif dengan 78% efektivitas dalam pembentukan karakter religius wisatawan. Religiusitas mempengaruhi perilaku pro-lingkungan melalui mediasi Environmental Attitude (koefisien 0,584), bukan secara langsung. Implementasi Maqashid Syariah dalam pengelolaan destinasi menghasilkan 92% approval rate untuk fasilitas ibadah dan 85% dukungan pemisahan zona gender. Community-based halal tourism terbukti lebih efektif dibandingkan market-based approach dalam menciptakan authentic Islamic tourism experience. Kontribusi penelitian meliputi konfirmasi teoretis mediasi religiusitas-perilaku sustainable tourism, pengembangan model integrasi PAI-sustainable tourism education, dan formulasi framework Maqashid Syariah untuk governance destinasi wisata berkelanjutan yang dapat diadaptasi secara universal Abstract The rapid growth of Indonesia's halal tourism industry indicates the need for integrating Islamic values into sustainable tourism practices. This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in shaping Muslim tourists' ethics, particularly regarding dress codes, halal consumption, and environmental awareness in sustainable religious tourism contexts. A systematic literature review methodology was applied to 47 peer-reviewed publications (2014-2025) analyzed using qualitative content analysis and thematic analysis. Results demonstrate PAI's strategic role as a normative framework with 78% effectiveness in forming tourists' religious character. Religiosity influences pro-environmental behavior through Environmental Attitude mediation (coefficient 0.584), not directly. Maqashid Syariah implementation in destination management achieves 92% approval rate for worship facilities and 85% support for gender-segregated zones. Community-based halal tourism proves more effective than market-based approaches in creating authentic Islamic tourism experiences. Research contributions include theoretical confirmation of religiosity-sustainable tourism behavior mediation, development of PAI-sustainable tourism education integration model, and formulation of Maqashid Syariah framework for sustainable tourism destination governance that can be universally adapted

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah makna larangan dalam hadis mengenai orang yang memakan bawang putih dan masuk ke masjid, dengan fokus pada upaya memahami konteks sosial dan spiritual dari pesan Rasulullah. Fenomena ini menarik karena bawang putih merupakan bahan yang halal, namun mendapat larangan keras ketika dikaitkan dengan tempat ibadah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kepustakaan untuk mengkaji hadis-hadis yang relevan, kemudian dianalisis melalui perspektif kontekstual yang mempertimbangkan latar historis, situasional, dan tujuan hadis. Proses analisis mencakup penelusuran makna redaksional, kondisi sosial masyarakat saat hadis diucapkan, serta implikasinya terhadap praktik keagamaan masa kini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa larangan tersebut bukan terkait keharaman konsumsi bawang putih, melainkan bertujuan menjaga kesucian dan kenyamanan masjid sebagai ruang ibadah bersama. Secara kontekstual, larangan ini mengandung pesan etika sosial agar umat menjaga kebersihan diri dan tidak mengganggu kekhusyukan orang lain dalam beribadah. Kontribusi penelitian ini terletak pada reinterpretasi makna hadis dengan pendekatan kontekstual, yang membuka ruang bagi pemahaman lebih moderat dan relevan terhadap teks keagamaan. Nilai orisinal penelitian ini terletak pada upaya menyelaraskan pemahaman tekstual hadis dengan nilai universal kebersihan, etika sosial, dan penghormatan terhadap tempat suci. Abstract This study aims to examine the meaning of the prohibition in the hadith regarding individuals who consume garlic and then enter the mosque, focusing on the social and spiritual context of the Prophet’s message. The issue is intriguing because garlic is a lawful food, yet it becomes prohibited in relation to the sanctity of worship spaces. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research methods to analyze relevant hadiths through a contextual perspective that considers their historical, situational, and purposive dimensions. The analysis involves exploring the textual expressions, social conditions at the time the hadith was delivered, and its implications for contemporary religious practice. The findings reveal that the prohibition does not concern the lawfulness of consuming garlic itself, but rather aims to preserve the purity and comfort of the mosque as a shared place of worship. Contextually, this prohibition conveys an ethical message for believers to maintain personal hygiene and avoid disturbing others’ concentration during prayer. The contribution of this study lies in its reinterpretation of the hadith through a contextual lens, offering a more balanced and relevant understanding of religious texts. Its originality and value rest in harmonizing textual interpretation with universal values of cleanliness, social ethics, and respect for sacred spaces.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menelaah makna dan fungsi hadis-hadis tentang arah kiblat dalam konteks historis, teologis, dan sosial, terutama terkait legitimasi wahyu dan identitas keagamaan umat Islam. Pergeseran arah kiblat dari Baitul Maqdis ke Ka’bah tidak hanya memunculkan persoalan fikih mengenai arah dan titik kiblat, tetapi juga menjadi simbol kemandirian teologis Islam dari tuduhan peniruan tradisi Yahudi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode studi kepustakaan untuk menelaah sanad dan matan hadis melalui analisis konteks komunikasi yang menyoroti aspek otentisitas pesan wahyu. Analisis dilakukan dengan menelusuri kronologi riwayat dan relevansinya terhadap pembentukan otoritas hadis sebagai sumber legitimasi keagamaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hadis-hadis tentang arah kiblat menegaskan peran wahyu sebagai dasar pembeda antara Islam dan tradisi sebelumnya serta sebagai penegasan independensi spiritual umat. Dalam konteks modern, kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa hadis-hadis tersebut tetap relevan menghadapi tantangan presisi arah kiblat akibat kemajuan teknologi geospasial dan perubahan alam. Kontribusi penelitian ini terletak pada reinterpretasi hadis arah kiblat sebagai wacana tandingan terhadap keraguan teologis sekaligus bukti fleksibilitas Islam dalam merespons ruang, waktu, dan perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan.This study aims to explore the meaning and function of hadiths concerning the direction of the qibla within historical, theological, and social contexts, particularly in relation to the legitimacy of revelation and the religious identity of Muslims. The shift of the qibla from Bayt al-Maqdis to the Ka‘bah was not merely a matter of jurisprudential debate but also symbolized the theological independence of Islam from accusations of imitating Jewish tradition. Using a qualitative, library-based approach, this research examines the isnād (chain of transmission) and matn (content) of the hadiths through a contextual communication analysis that highlights the authenticity and purpose of revelation. The analysis traces the chronological variations of narrations and their implications for the authority of hadith as a foundation of theological legitimacy. The findings indicate that the hadiths on the qibla affirm revelation as a defining element of Islamic identity and as a response to earlier religious traditions. In contemporary contexts, these hadiths remain relevant amid technological advances and natural phenomena affecting qibla precision. The study contributes a reinterpretation of qibla-related hadiths as a counter-discourse to theological skepticism and as evidence of Islam’s intellectual adaptability in engaging with space, time, and scientific progress.

Abstract

Abstrak Tulisan ini bertujuan meneliti perbedaan penilaian antara al-Albani dan para muḥaddithūn lainnya mengenai status kehadisan ungkapan “khair al-nas anfaukum li al-nas”. Al-Albani menilai riwayat tersebut berderajat hasan, sedangkan sejumlah ulama hadis lain mengategorikannya sebagai daif. Kajian ini sekaligus menguraikan faktor-faktor yang melatarbelakangi perbedaan tersebut serta menarik kesimpulan yang proporsional. Penelitian ini dipandang penting karena ungkapan itu sangat populer di tengah umat Islam, khususnya di kalangan dai dan penceramah, sehingga kerap dikutip sebagai hadis Nabi. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian kepustakaan (library research) dengan bertumpu pada sumber-sumber tertulis, seperti kitab-kitab hadis beserta syarahnya, serta buku dan artikel ilmiah yang relevan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa akar perbedaan terutama terletak pada perbedaan kriteria hadis hasan li ghairih. Bagi al-Albani, hadis daif yang kelemahannya tidak berat dapat naik menjadi hasan karena adanya beberapa jalur periwayatan yang saling menguatkan. Sebaliknya, menurut banyak muḥaddithūn, apabila seluruh jalur yang ada tetap berstatus daif, maka jalur-jalur tersebut tidak cukup untuk saling menguatkan hingga meningkatkan derajatnya menjadi hasan atau sahih. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya kehati-hatian dalam menisbatkan ungkapan tersebut kepada Nabi saw., karena penyandaran yang tidak tepat memiliki konsekuensi serius, meskipun maknanya baik dan sejalan dengan prinsip umum syariat.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji dua hadis sahih yang tampak berseberangan terkait hukum berwudu setelah memakan makanan yang tersentuh api. Hadis riwayat al-Bukhari menggambarkan Rasulullah saw. makan daging kambing lalu menunaikan salat tanpa berwudu, sementara hadis riwayat Muslim memuat perintah berwudu setelah makan dari sesuatu yang dimasak. Studi ini bertujuan menelaah pertentangan tersebut melalui pendekatan nasikh–mansukh untuk menetapkan ketentuan hukum yang berlaku. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif berbasis studi kepustakaan dengan menelaah sumber primer hadis serta pandangan ulama klasik dan kontemporer. Data dihimpun dari Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu Dawud, Sunan al-Tirmidzi, dan Musnad Ahmad, kemudian dianalisis memakai langkah nasikh–mansukh (verifikasi kualitas riwayat, identifikasi indikasi pertentangan, dan mekanisme penyelesaiannya). Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa kewajiban berwudu setelah makanan yang dimasak merupakan hukum awal yang kemudian dihapus (mansukh) oleh hadis yang membolehkan makan tanpa berwudu (nasikh). Temuan ini dikuatkan oleh kronologi periwayatan, konteks sosial sahabat perawi, dan kesetaraan derajat kesahihan kedua hadis. Kesimpulannya, wudu tidak wajib setelah makan makanan tersentuh api, namun tetap dianjurkan sebagai sunnah demi kesempurnaan ibadah dan kebersihan, sekaligus membantu mengurangi ambiguitas hukum di masyarakat modern.
