Abstract

This study examines digital communication strategies adopted by organizations in adapting to and transforming within the digital era. The rapid development of digital technology has fundamentally altered organizational communication patterns, requiring adaptive strategies that encompass the use of digital platforms, media management, and internal and external communication systems. Employing a systematic literature review (SLR) methodology combined with qualitative case analysis across five Indonesian organizations, this research identifies four key dimensions of digital communication strategy: platform architecture and integration, content strategy and management, audience engagement and relationship building, and organizational culture and digital literacy. The findings reveal three distinct organizational adaptation patterns, reactive, planned, and proactive, and identify six critical success factors for effective digital communication strategy implementation. Organizations that adopt integrated, strategic approaches demonstrate superior stakeholder engagement, operational efficiency, and organizational resilience. This research contributes to the theoretical framework of organizational communication in the digital age and offers practical implications for communication practitioners and organizational leaders navigating digital transformation.

Abstract

Streaming platforms and artificial intelligence (AI) have jointly reorganized how audiences discover, watch, and discuss film and media content, yet most scholarship still treats recommendation algorithms, viewing habits, and platform economics as separate lines of inquiry. This article synthesizes twenty-five peer-reviewed and conference sources published mainly between 2021 and 2026 to examine how AI-driven personalization, generative tools, and streaming infrastructures are reshaping audience behavior across film, broadcasting, and social media contexts. Using a narrative literature synthesis of English- and Indonesian-language reference corpora supplemented by additional database searches, the study traces three converging shifts: from scheduled, appointment-based viewing to on-demand and algorithmically curated consumption; from anonymous mass audiences to data-legible, hyper-personalized users; and from passive spectatorship to participatory, algorithm-aware engagement through comments, ratings, and generative co-creation. The review proposes an original AI-Mediated Audience Transformation (AI-MAT) framework, positioning audiences along a continuum from default viewers to algorithmically negotiated participants. Findings indicate that while personalization increases engagement, satisfaction, and retention, it simultaneously raises concerns about algorithmic bias, filter bubbles, transparency, and diminished audience autonomy. The article concludes that film, media, and communication scholarship must integrate audience-reception theory with computational media studies to adequately theorize AI-mediated viewing publics, and outlines directions for future empirical and cross-cultural research.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PkM) aims to improve the digital literacy and capacity of the community in Wotay Village, Teon Nila Serua District, Central Maluku Regency, by using social media as a promotional medium for local flagship products, particularly Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO). The community faced several challenges, including limited knowledge of digital marketing, inadequate product branding strategies, insufficient skills in creating promotional content, and a narrow marketing reach that remained focused on local markets. The program employed a participatory approach consisting of observation, coordination with the village government, socialization, training, hands-on practice, mentoring, and evaluation. The training covered digital marketing communication concepts, the use of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp Business, and TikTok as promotional platforms, product photography techniques, simple video production, persuasive caption writing, and social media account management. The results demonstrated significant improvements in participants' knowledge and skills in using social media for promoting local products. Participants became capable of producing more engaging promotional content, developing product branding, and managing social media accounts for digital marketing purposes. Strong community participation and support from the Wotay Village Government contributed substantially to the success of the program. This initiative is expected to expand market access, enhance the competitiveness of local products, and strengthen the community's economy through the sustainable utilization of digital technology.

Abstract

Social media platforms increasingly rely on recommendation algorithms to decide what content users encounter, and these systems have become powerful, largely invisible architects of contemporary public opinion. This study conducts a systematic literature review, guided by the PRISMA 2020 protocol, to synthesize evidence on how algorithmic curation including engagement-optimized ranking, collaborative filtering, and personalization models shapes exposure diversity, polarization, and opinion dynamics on digital platforms. Twenty-five peer-reviewed and preprint sources published mainly between 2021 and 2026 were screened and analyzed, spanning computational social science, communication studies, and political science. The review identifies three convergent mechanisms through which algorithms influence public opinion: selective exposure amplification, engagement-driven emotional framing, and feedback-loop reinforcement of prior preferences. Unlike earlier filter-bubble narratives that treat algorithmic influence as uniformly polarizing, this review's novelty lies in synthesizing recent causal and quasi-experimental evidence showing that algorithmic effects are conditional, platform-specific, and often smaller than public discourse assumes, while still measurably shaping the visibility and legitimacy of divergent viewpoints. Findings further reveal a persistent gap between platform-level algorithmic audits and individual-level attitudinal outcomes. The review concludes that public opinion formation in algorithmic environments should be understood as a co-produced process between platform design and user agency, offering implications for platform governance, media literacy, and future empirical research design

Abstract

Crisis events in the digital era unfold across multiple online platforms simultaneously, forcing organizations to move beyond traditional public relations models. This article examines digital communication strategies for crisis management by synthesizing findings from twenty-five peer-reviewed studies published between 2021 and 2026, spanning government, corporate, health, tourism, and higher-education contexts. Using a systematic literature review method, the study analyzes patterns of dialogic communication, two-way engagement, disinformation countermeasures, and the emerging role of artificial intelligence in shaping crisis responses. The review identifies four core strategic pillars: transparency and timeliness, dialogic two-way interaction, platform-specific message tailoring, and post-crisis reputation recovery. Findings show that organizations combining rapid, transparent messaging with sustained two-way engagement on social media achieve markedly higher public trust and faster reputational recovery than those relying on one-way broadcasting. The novelty of this study lies in integrating recent research on AI-mediated crisis communication with classical Situational Crisis Communication Theory and dialogic communication theory into one cross-sector framework. The article concludes that effective digital crisis communication requires institutional readiness, cross-platform coordination, continuous sentiment monitoring, and responsible technology adoption. These findings offer theoretical and practical guidance for communication practitioners, policymakers, and scholars seeking to strengthen organizational resilience within an increasingly volatile digital information environment.

Abstract

In the digital economy, social media influencers have become central intermediaries between brands and consumers, shaping perceptions, attitudes, and purchase decisions through parasocial bonds and perceived authenticity. Yet the growing commercialization of influencer content has raised concerns about credibility erosion and rising consumer skepticism, producing a paradox in which influencer marketing expenditure keeps expanding even as generalized trust in influencers appears to decline. This study synthesizes empirical and conceptual literature published between 2021 and 2026 to examine how the classical dimensions of influencer credibility, namely expertise, trustworthiness, and attractiveness, shape consumer trust and downstream outcomes such as purchase intention, brand attitude, engagement, and loyalty across diverse cultural and platform contexts. Using a systematic narrative review, twenty-five peer-reviewed sources spanning several industries, including beauty, fashion, technology, and tourism, and regions across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Latin America, were analyzed thematically. Findings indicate that trustworthiness and perceived expertise consistently outperform physical attractiveness as predictors of consumer trust, that parasocial interaction and content value mediate the credibility-trust relationship, and that disclosure transparency together with virtual-influencer authenticity increasingly moderates these effects. The review identifies a key novelty: a conceptual shift from static source-credibility models toward dynamic, platform-embedded trust ecosystems shaped by algorithmic curation and human-versus-virtual influencer dynamics, with implications for marketers, platforms, and policymakers.

Abstract

In the current era of pervasive digitalization, organizations increasingly depend on digital communication technologies to coordinate distributed knowledge and accelerate strategic response within complex organizational ecosystems. Although digital transformation has attracted extensive scholarly attention, most studies examine digital communication capability, knowledge sharing, organizational learning, and strategic decision-making as separate constructs, leaving their combined, cross-level influence on organizational adaptability under-theorized. This article develops a multilevel conceptual model linking digital communication capability at the individual and team level, cross-functional knowledge sharing at the group level, organizational learning at the organizational level, and strategic decision-making at the managerial level, culminating in organizational adaptability as the ecosystem-level outcome. Using a systematic literature review of peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2021 and 2026 and indexed in reputable databases, this study maps theoretical linkages among the constructs and identifies mechanisms through which digital communication capability cascades upward to shape adaptive capacity. The novelty lies in integrating communication theory, dynamic capability theory, and organizational learning theory into a single multilevel ecosystem framework rather than treating digital transformation as a purely technological phenomenon. Findings show that digital communication capability functions as a foundational micro-level enabler that, combined with structured cross-functional knowledge sharing and continuous organizational learning, strengthens the quality and speed of strategic decision-making and thereby enhances organizational adaptability.
