Abstract

PT. Polyplex Films Indonesia is a manufacturer of Metallize Film products. This polymer film is coated with a tiny aluminum foil coating, giving it a bright metallic appearance. Metalized film materials have extensive use in decoration, food packaging, and specialized uses, including insulation and electronics. The production results of metalized film production show that in the most recent year, 2022, the number of defects was 1.6%, which is higher than the tolerance limit the company set at 0.5% of total annual production. Maintaining the consistency of the quality of the metalized film products that the company produces is much easier. The number of defects settled by the different types: Heat line accounts for 42% of the defects, pinhole accounts for 31%, and Star sky accounts for 27%. The company employs the PDCA method to mitigate issues in the production line. The implementation results demonstrate that the PDCA method has led to a reduction in the number of defects. Specifically, the Heat Line defects decreased from 274 tons to 57 tons, representing a decrease of 79.19%. Similarly, the Star Sky defects decreased from 178 tons to 85 tons, resulting in a reduction of 52%. The pinhole defects decreased from 202 to 51 tons, indicating a 74.8% decrease. The findings of this study should deepen our understanding of how the PDCA technique actually works to enhance product quality. This is because the changes are produced during the action phase, allowing for long-term retention of the gains. Product recommendations for additional investigation include PET (polyethylene terephthalate), BOPP (bi-axially oriented polypropylene), and CPP (cast polypropylene) films.

Abstract

Batik Banten Mukarnas is a company that produces stamped batik designs with various patterns and varieties of batik. Problems frequently arise in the company due to increased stamped batik production capacity to meet the demand for stamped batik design products, which continues to rise from stamped batik suppliers. Another impact of growing demand capacity is the high number of defects in stamped batik cloth products, because overall, the company's management, including human resources, tools, and methods, is not prepared for the increase in production capacity to meet the surge in consumer demand, resulting in an impact on the quality of the products produced—consequently, the organization endeavors to regulate the quality of stamped batik cloth at PT. Batik Banten Mukarnas establishes objectives that employ Six Sigma with the DMAIC method (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) in the production of batik stamp designs to meet production objectives. The results of the data processing that has been done obtained a sigma value before improvement for 3 CTQ of 3.54. After improvement, the sigma value increased to 3.86. While for the sigma value before improvement for 1 CTQ of 3.04, the sigma value increased to 3.42 after improvement. The factors contributing to defective products, as illustrated by the fishbone diagram, include methods, personnel, materials, machinery, and environmental conditions. The division leader consistently oversees and regulates operations, enhances the number of brushes, and trains operators to ensure proficient adherence to standard operating procedures (SOP).

Abstract

The A* Algorithm is a path-finding algorithm that primarily uses weighted graphs and focuses on the heuristic values of nodes. However, while effective in generating a near-optimal path in a static environment, the traditional algorithm faces limitations in navigating dynamic environments, often resulting in collisions due to its inability to recognize dynamic and moving obstacles. This limitation makes it inefficient especially in complex environments with real-world scenarios. To address these limitations, an Enhanced A* Algorithm is proposed. This algorithm utilizes Navigation Mesh data structure to generate a more optimal route with local path planning and to dynamically adjust the parameters in two-dimensional non-grid environments. The performance of the algorithms was evaluated using 12 benchmarks, each corresponding to a distinct test case and levels of complexity. Then, in terms of dynamic obstacle avoidance, a comparison between the Enhanced A* Algorithm and the traditional algorithm was conducted. Statistical analyses were also performed to assess the consistency and validity of the findings. The results demonstrated that the Enhanced A* Algorithm successfully avoided all dynamic obstacles and moving objects encountered along the path in all distinct test cases. In contrast to the traditional algorithm, which achieved an average obstacle avoidance rate of 8.33%, the enhanced algorithm consistently demonstrated a 100% average obstacle avoidance rate. The enhanced algorithm outperformed the traditional A* algorithm in generating a path in a complex environment by exhibiting optimal dynamic obstacle recognition and avoidance. The Enhanced A* Algorithm is subsequently applied to autonomous vehicle parking, following standard parking restriction laws.

Abstract

The Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA), while effective in solving complex optimization problems, faces limitations in random population initialization and reliance on fixed parameters. Random initialization of the population often results in clustered solutions, resulting in uneven exploration of the search space and hindering effective global optimization. Furthermore, the use of fixed values for discovery rate and step size creates a trade-off between solution accuracy and convergence speed. To address these limitations, an Enhanced Cuckoo Search Algorithm (ECSA) is proposed. This algorithm utilizes the Sobol Sequence to generate a more uniformly distributed initial population and incorporates Cosine Annealing with Warm Restarts to dynamically adjust the parameters. The performance of the algorithms was evaluated on 13 benchmark functions (7 unimodal, 6 multimodal). Statistical analyses were conducted to determine the significance and consistency of the results. The ECSA outperforms the CSA in 11 out of 13 benchmark functions with a mean fitness improvement of 30% across all functions, achieving 35% for unimodal functions and 24% for multimodal functions. The enhanced algorithm demonstrated increased convergence efficiency, indicating its superiority to the CSA in solving a variety of optimization problems. The ECSA is subsequently applied to optimize earthquake evacuation space allocation in Intramuros, Manila.

Abstract

Customer satisfaction is a crucial indicator in assessing the quality of a company's products, services and overall experience. This research aims to identify the level of customer satisfaction and optimize the available data for effective use in sentiment analysis. In this study, we analyzed 4,353 customer reviews collected over the past year, with 3,481 reviews used as training data and 871 reviews as testing data. The analysis process was conducted using the Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining (CRISP-DM) approach and leveraged the Logistic Regression algorithm to build a predictive model. Model evaluation using the confusion matrix yielded an accuracy of 94.60%, a precision of 94.26%, and a recall of 94.60%. The analysis was conducted using Jupyter Notebook and the Python programming language. The results indicate that sentiment analysis is effective in identifying and predicting customer satisfaction levels, which in turn can help a company’s products improve its service strategies. The optimization of previously underutilized data now provides deeper insights into customer perceptions and expectations, enabling the company to make more targeted decisions and enhance overall customer satisfaction.
