Abstract

Character education in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah faces significant challenges in the digital era, particularly within the context of educational management. This study aims to identify and analyze both internal and external challenges and propose managerial strategies for strengthening character education amidst rapid technological advances. Utilizing a library research method, data was collected from various academic sources, including books, journals, and reports. The findings indicate that internal challenges include teachers' limited digital literacy, outdated curricula, weak infrastructure, and lack of visionary leadership. Externally, students' excessive exposure to digital entertainment, social media influences, and low digital literacy hinder the internalization of moral values. To address these challenges, the study suggests integrating digital literacy into character education through the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework, adopting blended learning, and fostering collaboration between schools and parents. Strengthening these strategies is expected to enhance Madrasah Ibtidaiyah’s ability to cultivate morally grounded, technology-wise students, adapting effectively to the dynamics of the digital era.

Abstract

This study examines the management of evaluation in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning for hearing-impaired students at SMPLB Yakut Purwokerto. Evaluation plays a crucial role in determining the achievement of learning objectives, particularly in inclusive education settings that require specific pedagogical and managerial approaches. This research employed a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving school principals, IRE teachers, and students. The findings reveal that the management of IRE evaluation was implemented through several stages: planning, organizing, implementing, supervising, and follow-up actions. Evaluation planning was adapted to students’ hearing limitations by emphasizing visual and practical assessment techniques. The organization of evaluation involved coordination between teachers and school management. Implementation of evaluation utilized modified written tests, performance-based assessments, and continuous observation. Supervision was conducted through periodic monitoring by school leaders, while follow-up actions included remedial teaching and individualized guidance. This study concludes that effective evaluation management in special education requires flexibility, collaboration, and contextual adaptation to students’ needs. The findings contribute to the development of evaluation management models in Islamic education for students with disabilities.

Abstract

Libya faces significant environmental challenges such as water scarcity, desertification, and waste management, which impact the sustainability of its ecosystems and the lives of its people. Islamic education has great potential to support environmental sustainability through the integration of ecological principles embodied in the Qur'an. This article aims to explore how educational institutions in Libya can integrate Islamic-based sustainability principles into their curricula. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, collecting data through in-depth interviews with educators and educational institution administrators, and analyzing curriculum documents from various Islamic educational institutions in Libya. The results indicate that while there is great potential to integrate Islamic-based environmental education, the main challenges lie in the lack of government policy support, limited resources, and political instability affecting the education system. This article concludes that realizing sustainability-based education requires more comprehensive educational policy reform and increased collaboration between educational institutions, the government, and the community. This research also recommends developing training for educators to integrate sustainability principles into their teaching.

Abstract

This study explores the dynamics of Human Resource (HR) management in addressing the digital literacy gap among Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers within the rural context of Bawang District, Banjarnegara. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive design, the investigation involves a comprehensive analysis of data obtained through field observations and semi-structured interviews conducted in August 2025 with the PAI Teachers Working Group (KKG). The findings reveal a significant paradox where the extensive provision of modern infrastructure, such as Chromebooks and Android TVs, fails to yield optimal technological integration due to deep-seated andragogical barriers among senior educators. To mitigate this challenge, the KKG employs a strategic peer-teaching framework, institutionalizing a collaborative environment where younger, tech-savvy teachers facilitate the digital administrative workflows of their senior counterparts, particularly in managing the SIAGA platform. Ultimately, this research underscores that sustainable digital transformation in religious education necessitates a personalized, human-centered management approach that transcends mere hardware distribution, prioritizing psychological readiness and intergenerational symbiosis.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) are value-based educational institutions in which tradition and religious authority play a decisive role in shaping institutional governance. While previous studies have highlighted the historical and cultural significance of pesantren, less attention has been paid to how authority structures influence management change within these institutions. This study explores patterns of authority and institutional decision-making in Islamic boarding school education, focusing on the ways tradition mediates managerial transformation. Using a qualitative research design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis in selected Islamic boarding schools undergoing organizational change. The findings show that authority in pesantren operates through layered and relational structures rather than formal bureaucratic hierarchies. Decision-making is characterized by consultative practices, moral legitimacy, and symbolic leadership, particularly centered on the role of the kiai. Management change is not implemented through procedural enforcement alone but is negotiated through existing authority networks and value-based frameworks. The study further reveals that tradition functions as a managerial resource that enables pesantren to balance institutional continuity with adaptation to external demands. Formal management structures coexist with informal authority practices, resulting in a hybrid governance model that accommodates accountability requirements without undermining institutional identity. These findings challenge linear and technocratic models of educational reform and underscore the importance of context-sensitive governance in religious educational institutions. This study contributes to educational management literature by positioning tradition and moral authority as analytical variables in understanding institutional change within Islamic education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between students’ participation in extracurricular activities and their non-academic achievement at the secondary school level. The study is grounded in the importance of holistic student development through non-academic activities such as sports, arts, and student organizations. A quantitative correlational research design was employed, involving students who had actively participated in extracurricular activities for at least one semester. Data were collected using a questionnaire to measure the level of students’ participation and teacher assessment records to evaluate non-academic achievement. Prior to analysis, the research instruments were tested for validity, reliability, normality, and linearity. The data were analyzed using the Pearson Product-Moment correlation technique. The results indicated that the majority of students demonstrated high (36%) to moderate (28%) levels of participation in extracurricular activities. Students’ non-academic achievement was predominantly categorized as good (40%) to very good (24%). The correlation analysis revealed a correlation coefficient of r = 0.726 with p = 0.000, indicating a positive and statistically significant relationship between participation in extracurricular activities and non-academic achievement. These findings suggest that increased involvement in extracurricular activities is associated with higher levels of non-academic achievement among students.

Abstract

This study examines how creative public relations are implemented through the TABA (Tajwid and Language) course program in managing the institutional image of a pesantren in Situbondo, Indonesia. Pesantren, as indigenous Islamic educational institutions, face increasing demands to maintain public trust and social relevance amid changing educational expectations. Using a qualitative field research approach, this study explores how educational programs function as strategic communication practices rather than mere promotional activities. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation involving pesantren leaders, public relations staff, santri, and community participants. The findings reveal that the TABA course program operates as an effective form of creative public relations by embedding communication within substantive educational practice. Openness to community participation, the involvement of santri as instructors, and sustained interaction between the pesantren and the public contribute significantly to the formation of a positive institutional image. Public perceptions of the pesantren are shaped through direct experience, leading to increased trust, accessibility, and recognition of the pesantren as an inclusive and socially responsive educational institution. The study also finds that public relations in pesantren contexts functions most effectively when aligned with core educational missions and values. Rather than relying on formal promotion, institutional image is constructed through consistent educational engagement and visible outcomes. This research contributes to the field of Islamic educational management by highlighting the role of creative, program-based public relations strategies in strengthening pesantren legitimacy and community relations.

Abstract

Educational institutions increasingly face complex challenges related to quality assurance, accountability, and sustainability in a rapidly changing educational environment. In this context, the strategic management of human resources has become a critical determinant of institutional effectiveness and educational quality. This article aims to develop a conceptual framework for Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) in educational institutions as a means of enhancing educational quality. Employing a qualitative conceptual research design, the study is based on a systematic review and analytical synthesis of key theories and scholarly literature in the fields of human resource management, educational management, and organizational studies. The findings reveal that SHRM in educational institutions operates through several interrelated dimensions, including strategic alignment, human capital development, performance management, organizational culture, leadership integration, adaptability to environmental change, and institutional sustainability. These dimensions function as a coherent system that links human resource practices with long-term educational objectives rather than short-term administrative needs. The discussion highlights that educational quality improvement is most sustainable when human resource management is embedded within the strategic core of the institution and aligned with its vision and mission. This study contributes theoretically by integrating fragmented literature into a unified conceptual framework and provides practical insights for educational leaders seeking to position human resources as strategic drivers of quality improvement. The framework also offers a foundation for future empirical research on SHRM in diverse educational contexts.

Abstract

Islamic education plays a crucial role in shaping students' character through the integration of faith and moral values. However, challenges remain in effectively implementing these values in schools, particularly in the context of educational management in madrasas. This study aims to analyze how faith and moral values are integrated into the curriculum, learning, and school culture at MTs Nurul Islam Clekatakan. The research used a qualitative approach with a single case study design, involving data collection techniques through participant observation, in-depth interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and document studies. Data analysis employed the Miles & Huberman interactive analysis model. The results indicate that the integration of faith in education at MTs Nurul Islam Clekatakan has successfully shaped students' morality, as evidenced by the increase in honest and responsible behavior among students. Daily practices based on faith, such as the Dhuha prayer and the "Sahabat Amanah" program, as well as teacher role models, play a significant role in the internalization of moral values. This study contributes to understanding the importance of linking the concept of faith with moral formation in Islamic education. In conclusion, education that integrates faith and morals not only produces students who are academically intelligent but also possess noble character. Further research is recommended to explore external factors influencing this integration, such as the role of family and society.
