Abstract

The topic of global environmental crisis comes up wherever and whenever, along with the worldwide environmental catastrophe in Indonesia, one of which is in Jakarta. This issue eventually led to the concept of green architecture to minimize new resources and save energy, creating a healthy and comfortable environment for its users. GBCI, an organization that evaluates whether a building fulfills the requirements for a green building using the Greenship grading system, is the foundation of the principles of implementing the concept of green architecture. Sequis Center, an office building in Senayan, South Jakarta's Sudirman Central Business District, is one of the buildings in Indonesia that achieved a gold grade in Greenship certification. Sequis Center uses the concept of environmentally friendly buildings through energy saving. This research uses a qualitative method by collecting data through literature studies, direct field observations, and analyzing the principles according to the concept of green architecture. Based on the conclusions of this research, the Sequis Center promotes sustainable environmental ecosystems by utilizing the green architecture concept. The results of this analysis can be added value to the building and are expected to increase knowledge about global warming that can be generated from buildings and activities in them.

Abstract

A sense of place is an important element that can strengthen the relationship between the user and the place. The character of a place greatly influences how a person evaluates and interprets it. The 16 Ilir Market, one of Palembang's oldest markets, has played an important role in the city. But now, the market is starting to face many problems, such as congestion problems and the physical shape of the building. In addition, the interior of the building becomes less attractive. These factors influence the sense of place at 16 Ilir Market. The purpose of this research is to look at the current sense of place at Pasar 16 Ilir, which is influenced by several aspects. The analysis will refer to several aspects that can give rise to a sense of place for users, such as: activity; meaning; and physical setting. The method used is a qualitative research method, which consists of collecting field data and interviewing managers, merchants, and visitors. Then the data was processed using the descriptive analysis method. According to the study's findings, the sense of place in 16 Ilir Market is shaped not only by the market itself, but also by the surrounding area. Interestingly, the area around the market has a bigger role in creating the sense of place.

Abstract

Open space is an important element inherent in the community along the Musi River in activities or activities of daily life as a place for gathering, chatting, playing, shopping or just sitting. The need for open space is influenced by various aspects, one of which is the difference in needs according to community groups (age). The importance of the need for types of open space and open space supporting facilities is the background of this research, to determine the different types of open space and supporting facilities needed by the community to support daily activities or activities based on community groups (age). This research was conducted using quantitative methods to process three types of data which were the result of questionnaires and surveys, such as: the type of open space that is often used; the facilities needed; and the type of open space needed. The three types of data are processed through the JMP application. Descriptive method is used to explain the results of the analysis regarding the types of open space and facilities needed by the community on the banks of the Musi River. The results of the study indicate that there is an influence of community groups (age) which is more directed to the open space facilities needed and supported by fairly complex needs, as well as the situation and condition of the settlements occupied according to age groups, namely children, adolescents, and adults.

Abstract

Riverside settlements are a characteristic of the city of Palembang. Residential in Palembang City are increasing and growing every year while the availability of residential land is relatively constant, giving rise to dense and slum settlements. Most of the settlements located along the Musi River can be categorized as densely populated settlements with various problems in them. Gandus Sub-District is one of the sub-districts in Palembang City which is located in a strategic area which has riverside settlements that are close to the Musi Bridge 2. The Gandus area is included in the category of slum areas which has resulted in a decrease in the environmental quality of the area. This study aims to examine the problems of slum settlements in terms of the spatial character of space. This qualitative method was carried out to identify the spatial physical conditions of the Gandus settlement relying on field observation surveys, which were compiled with a descriptive analysis of the physical spatial settlements as a solution to slum problems in the Gandus settlement along the river. buildings, pedestrian circulation that is continuous but interrupted at the end of the river, lack of open space arrangement so that it becomes a place for wild plants to grow, and lack of supporting elements for activities. Therefore, elements such as land use, buildings, pedestrian circulation, open space and activity support can be elements that can improve environmental quality if properly managed. Then, the result of the research would be a significant input for the development program in the area.

Abstract

West Manggarai Regency of East Nusa Tenggara province became one of the backbones of the national tourism sector when its capital city, Labuan Bajo, was selected as one of the ten priority tourism destinations in 2016. Tourism development is improved as a sector that promises to bring in large revenues for the country, especially in areas with abundant natural and cultural resources. On the other hand, the regent of West Manggarai continues to race in order not to waste the golden opportunities. One thing the local government continues to strive for is that regional tourism dynamics can impact economic development and growth, as well as improve the welfare of local communities in the creative product sector, the directorate of the creative music industry, and the performing arts. The neo-vernacular architectural approach is used in the design of a creative hub, with a descriptive analysis method that uses qualitative research by collecting and recording detailed data on various problems related to the design object. The results of the application of neo-vernacular architecture are in the form of facades, roof shapes, materials, and spatial zoning. Later, this creative hub is expected to open up jobs for creative actors, become a place to preserve and develop Manggarai culture, and become a new tourist destination in the Labuan Bajo city.

Abstract

Kapitan Village and Dewi Kwam In Temple are two tourist destinations in the city of Palembang which are located on the banks of the Musi River. The construction of the corridor along the banks of the Musi River that connects the two tourist areas is still not optimal when viewed from the aspect of satisfaction with the level of service to tourists. Even so, the corridor on the banks of the Musi River has a very high tourism potential because of its very strategic location. This article aims to obtain a conceptualization of a corridor development strategy on the banks of the Musi River based on visitor perceptions as a reference for local government development planning. The research method was carried out using a quantitative method where the statistical data obtained was the result of distributing questionnaires. The data is presented through picture diagrams and analyzed descriptively. Furthermore, the results of the questionnaire are linked to the main principles of waterfront area development. Based on the analysis that has been carried out, the concept of culinary tourism is the type of tourism that is most in demand by respondents and is suitable for application in the Musi Riverside corridor.

Abstract

The planning riverside area can be a solution for the provision of public open space. The planning should promote the special character of the landscape and the community’s social culture. Open spaces in dense settlements use for expansion of the cramped house for daily activities and socializing between residents. The research location is in a settlement around the Ampera Bridge in Palembang. This study aims to present an alternative riverbank open space design based on the specific of the physical conditions and activities of riverside settlement. Observation includes the number of types of users, activities, area, and facilities. The results showed that active points were found in seven open spaces. The intensity and type of activity is influenced by the area, panorama, and facilities. Access to the river is the most important element in designing open spaces on the banks of the river. Residents' activities are often related to rivers. The access will revive the use of open space as a link between the river and the daily activities of residents. The arrangement also needs to be equipped with additional facilities of the daily needs for the resident’s reason to visit open spaces.

Abstract

In general, informal settlements in Urban Kampung often went through adaptations and changes to accommodate the activities of their residents. The residents in informal settlements naturally change or add spaces to their dwellings without any binding rules, this often creates disorder and chaos in the spatial arrangement. In the case of Kampung Muka, this kind of independent space adaptation also occurs. However, in several cases, such as the placement and addition of service area, a consistent trend was found in the pattern of spatial adaptation. The residents seem to have their own rules in arranging service area, such as the kitchen on the outside of their dwelling. The existence of rules or agreements that appear in this community is very interesting, considering that informal communities tend to be considered exempt from rules. Understanding the emergence of rules that bind spatial adaptation then becomes important to see how far the limits and flexibility can be applied to densely populated housing especially to residents from informal environments. This study uses qualitative data collection methods in the form of observations of the spatial placement of spaces and activities, as well as in-depth interviews with respondents. In the end, the study succeeded in identifying how the kitchen as a form of spatial adaptation and the implied rules that accompany it.
