Abstract

This research aims to systematically analyze the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in various Human Resource Management (HRM) functions, evaluate the theoretical foundations used in previous studies, summarize key empirical findings, and identify research gaps and emerging ethical-managerial implications. The research uses a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) design with a PRISMA approach. Data was collected from the Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases for reputable journal articles published between 2015 and 2025. The selection process was conducted through the stages of identification, screening, and eligibility based on strict inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in 52 articles that were analyzed using thematic analysis and conceptual synthesis. Theoretically, this research enriches the technology-based HRM literature by presenting a typology of AI utilization in HRM functions and revealing the limitations of the theoretical framework, which is still partial and fragmented in previous studies. The research findings have strategic implications for practitioners and policymakers in ethically, responsibly, and sustainably integrating AI into HRM practices, particularly in the context of recruitment and selection, performance analytics, talent management, and data-driven HR decision-making. The limitations of this study lie in its reliance on secondary data sources and the dominance of studies focused on developed country contexts. This situation opens opportunities for further research that is empirical, longitudinal, and contextual, particularly in developing countries.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how intellectual capital contributes to firm value creation by investigating the mediating roles of innovation orientation and financial capital innovation in manufacturing firms. It seeks to move beyond a linear view of intellectual capital by explicating the mechanisms through which knowledge-based resources are transformed into economic value. The study adopts a quantitative explanatory design using secondary data from manufacturing firms operating in Central Java. The proposed conceptual model is tested using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to examine both direct and indirect relationships among intellectual capital, innovation orientation, financial capital innovation, and value creation. This research advances the intellectual capital literature by offering a process-oriented explanation of value creation. It extends resource-based and dynamic capabilities perspectives by positioning financial capital innovation as a critical yet underexplored mediating mechanism alongside innovation orientation in translating intellectual capital into firm value. The findings suggest that managers should not only invest in intellectual capital but also actively foster innovation-oriented strategies and innovative financial practices to realize sustainable value creation. For policymakers, the results highlight the importance of supporting innovation ecosystems and financial flexibility, particularly in manufacturing sectors operating under resource constraints. This study is limited by its reliance on secondary data and a cross-sectional design, which may not fully capture the dynamic evolution of intellectual capital and innovation over time. Future research is encouraged to employ longitudinal or mixed-method approaches and to test the proposed model across different industries and institutional contexts.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between digital work resources and innovative work behaviour in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), examining the mediating role of digital engagement. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 60 SME owners and employees actively using digital technologies in East Java. Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) was applied using SmartPLS and SPSS. The study reveals that digital work resources do not directly influence innovative work behaviour. Instead, digital engagement fully mediates this relationship, extending SME and digital work literature by emphasising engagement as a critical mechanism through which digital resources translate into innovation. The findings highlight that investments in digital technologies must be accompanied by strategies that enhance digital engagement, such as capability development and participative digital practices, to foster innovation in SMEs. The limited sample size and regional focus constrain generalisability. Future research should adopt broader samples, comparative settings, or longitudinal designs to further examine digital engagement dynamics in SMEs.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of knowledge management, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and innovation on the performance of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia, as well as to analyze the mediating roles of innovation and AI in strengthening SME performance. The study employed a quantitative approach using survey data collected from 200 SMEs across various industrial sectors in Indonesia. Data analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to test the validity of the measurement model and examine the hypothesized relationships among variables. This study contributes to the literature by integrating knowledge management, AI adoption, and innovation within a unified framework to explain SME performance. It provides empirical evidence on the mediating roles of innovation and AI, highlighting their strategic importance in translating knowledge resources into superior organizational performance. The findings suggest that SME owners and managers should invest in structured knowledge management systems and AI-supported technologies to enhance decision-making, collaboration, and innovation capabilities. Policymakers are encouraged to support SMEs through training programs and technological infrastructure development to foster sustainable SME growth. This study is limited by its cross-sectional design and reliance on self-reported survey data, which may restrict causal interpretation. Future research is recommended to employ longitudinal designs, expand sample coverage, and incorporate additional contextual variables to deepen understanding of digital transformation and performance dynamics in SMEs.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how Entrepreneurial Support Organizations (ESOs) construct and disseminate narratives that shape entrepreneurial transitions among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Solo, Central Java, particularly in the context of digital transformation and ecosystem development. The research employs a qualitative multiple-case study approach, drawing on in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis involving MSME actors and two key ESOs. Data were analyzed using thematic and narrative analysis to capture patterns of identity construction, ecosystem orientation, and future-oriented sensemaking. This study contributes to the transitional entrepreneurship literature by foregrounding narratives as a central mechanism through which ESOs shape entrepreneurial identities, ecosystem positioning, and collective futures, extending ecosystem-based perspectives beyond instrumental support functions. Findings highlight the strategic role of ESOs in fostering digital literacy, collaboration, and inclusive ecosystem development, offering insights for policymakers and practitioners to design more narrative-sensitive and equity-oriented support programs. The study is limited to two ESOs within a single local context, suggesting opportunities for future research across diverse regions and broader ecosystem actors using comparative or discourse-based approaches.

Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of work arrangements and work–life experiences among online resellers in Sorong City, focusing on how flexible work practices shape the management of work and personal life in an informal digital economy context. A quantitative survey was conducted involving online resellers operating through social media platforms. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression to explore associations between work arrangement practices and work–life experiences. This study extends work–life balance and flexible work literature by providing empirical evidence from informal digital work in Eastern Indonesia, highlighting flexibility as both autonomy and responsibility. Findings inform policymakers and development programs to design digital entrepreneurship initiatives that integrate economic support with worker well-being considerations. The study is limited by its cross-sectional design and single-city focus. Future research should adopt longitudinal and comparative approaches.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of credit restructuring as a strategy for handling non-performing loans at PT. BPR Christa Jaya Perdana, Kupang City, during the 2020–2024 period. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving management and staff directly responsible for credit restructuring. The results indicate that credit restructuring implemented through rescheduling, reconditioning, and restructuring mechanisms is effective in reducing the Non-Performing Loan (NPL) ratio and improving debtors’ repayment capacity, particularly among micro, small, and medium enterprise borrowers. Theoretically, this study reinforces credit risk management theory and agency theory, which emphasize contract adjustment as a key instrument to mitigate default risk and reduce agency conflicts between creditors and debtors. The originality of this study lies in its empirical examination of credit restructuring practices in rural banks as regional financial institutions supporting local economic development. Practically, the findings highlight the importance of strengthening credit analysis, post-restructuring monitoring, and improving debtors’ financial literacy. From a policy perspective, this study provides insights for rural banks and regulators in formulating adaptive and sustainable credit restructuring policies. This study is limited to a single rural bank, thus the findings cannot be broadly generalized.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the roles of destination perceptions and tourist attitudes in shaping revisit intentions among Generation Z at Cave Crystall Tourist Attraction in Kupang City, Indonesia. In addition, it seeks to investigate how digital information influences the formation of destination perceptions and revisit decisions in a nature-based tourism context. The study employs a quantitative research approach using a survey method targeting Generation Z tourists who had previously visited Cave Crystall. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). This study contributes to the tourism behavior literature by integrating digital information as an antecedent of destination perceptions and revisit intention within a Generation Z and nature-based tourism framework. The findings provide empirical evidence that digital information shapes destination perceptions and revisit intention, while tourist attitudes are more strongly influenced by direct destination experiences rather than digital exposure The findings offer practical insights for destination managers and policymakers to strengthen destination image management and enhance on-site tourism experiences to encourage repeat visits among Generation Z. Strategic use of digital platforms should focus on reinforcing positive destination perceptions, while experiential quality remains critical in shaping favorable tourist attitudes in nature-based tourism destinations. This study is limited to a single nature-based tourism destination and focuses exclusively on Generation Z visitors, which may restrict the generalizability of the findings. Future research is encouraged to examine different generational cohorts, expand to multiple destinations, and incorporate additional behavioral or experiential variables to further enrich the understanding of revisit intention in digital-era tourism.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of social media marketing on purchasing decisions with electronic word of mouth as a moderating variable at Cititex Kupang, a fashion retailer operating in Kupang City, Indonesia. The research employed a quantitative method with an associative approach. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents who met the criteria: consumers who had purchased or interacted with Cititex Kupang products through Instagram, were influenced by reviews or recommendations on Instagram, and had active social media accounts. Data analysis utilized simple linear regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The results revealed that social media marketing significantly influences purchasing decisions at Cititex Kupang (t-count 9.733 > t-table 1.660; sig. 0.000 < 0.05). However, electronic word of mouth was not proven to moderate the relationship between social media marketing and purchasing decisions, as the interaction variable showed a significance value of 0.065 (> 0.05) with a negative coefficient direction, indicating a weakening tendency. This research contributes to the digital marketing literature by examining the moderating role of e-WOM in the relationship between social media marketing and purchase decisions, particularly in the context of local fashion retail in Eastern Indonesia, an area previously under-researched. The findings suggest that fashion retailers should optimize their social media marketing strategies through engaging content creation, active sharing, and community building. While e-WOM may not serve as a strong moderator, companies should still encourage customer reviews and testimonials to complement their promotional efforts. This study is limited to a single retail location (Cititex Kupang) with 100 respondents. Future research should expand the sample size, include multiple locations, and consider other variables such as price, product quality, and brand trust to provide a more comprehensive understanding of factors influencing purchase decisions.

Abstract

This study investigates the effect of social media–based career education content on the work readiness of final-year students in Kupang. A quantitative approach was employed using purposive sampling of 217 final-year students exposed to career education content. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed using simple linear regression with SPSS 25. This study advances the literature by integrating social learning theory, human capital theory, and uses and gratifications theory to explain how social media operates as a career learning ecosystem. It provides robust quantitative evidence from an underexplored local context, addressing the limited empirical research on digital career education and work readiness. The findings demonstrate that career education content significantly enhances work readiness, highlighting social media as a strategic tool for career development. Educational institutions should incorporate digital learning strategies, while content creators must ensure content credibility and relevance to maximize impact. The study is constrained by a single predictor, cross-sectional design, and localized sample. Future research should adopt longitudinal designs and include additional variables to capture the multidimensional nature of work readiness.
