Abstract

Procrastination is a kind of failure on self-regulation to accomplish a task based on voluntaryintention. Although he or she understands the consequence, this kind of behavior occursrepeatedly. This kind of harmful behavior frequently occurred among the IAYP (InternationalAward for Young People) participants. IAYP is a kind of character building program. The programrequires participants to accomplish three activities sport, skill, and community service onceper week during 24 weeks (either for bronze and silver level). This program trained participantto have internal motivation. This research is done in university proklamasi 45 yogyakarta. This research is a correlation research with subjects totaling 30 subjects. The subject is thestudents participating in IAYP. method of data collection is done with the scale, the scaleof procrastination and conscientiousness scale. This research had a normal distributionand has a linear correlation so that the data analysis is done by using the technique of KarlPearson Product Moment Correlation. The results of data analysis have shown that the valueof correlation coefficient or rxy = -0.693, p = 0.000 (p <0.01), meaning that there is a verysignificant relationship between behavioral variables to conscientiousness with variableprocrastination at the University of Proklamasi 45 YogyakartaKeywords: Procrastination, conscientiousness, character building

Abstract

Objective of this research was to verify the relationship between the internal locus of controland social support from family variables with the career maturity variable among 12th gradevocational students. I proposed 3 hypotheses. Firstly, there was positive correlation betweenthe internal locus of control and the student’s career maturity. Secondly, there was positivecorrelation between the social support from family and student’s career maturity. Thirdly, there were positive relationship between those two independent variables and the careermaturity variable. The data were collected through 3 scales i.e. internal locus of control, social suppor7 from family, and career maturity. Sixty vocational students participated in thisresearch. They were recruited through the cluster random sampling technique. This researchrevealed that the first hypothesis was accepted, rxy = .639, p = .00. The second hypothesis wasalso accepted, rxy = .474, p = .00. The third hypothesis was accepted, F = 23.408, p = .00, R2 =.451. Two suggestions at the discussion session were addressed either to the G & C teacherat the vocational school or parents in order to prepare student’s career maturity readiness.Key words: Locus of control, social support from family, career maturity.

Abstract

Having positive atitude on a difficult subject was a tough basic on having a good academicachievement. Although this was really a classic issue, however, this research was interesting. This research was conducted in a rural areas. Hypothetically, students would have goodmathematic achievement when they had posititve attitude on that subject. Forty two villageelementary students, grade fourth and fifth, participated in this research. Students’ attitudedata were collected through the attitude scale and the range of validity value was .318-.670.The students’ achievement in math was collected through their report cards. This researchrevealed that there was no correlation between students’ attitude on math and their mathachievement, rho = .037, p = .818. Reason of this research finding might be from students’life style. They were student villagers, and villagers usually were reluctant to express their realattitude. They might be unhappy with the teacher’s method in teaching math, however, theywere reluctant to deal with the teacher. Other reasons were also discussed. Keywords: Mathematic, attitude, achievement.

Abstract

Objective of this research was to verify the relationship between the transformationalleadership style and work performance among employees. Fifty middle managers were involvedin this research. They were recruited randomly from 5 private universities in Yogyakarta. Thisresearch revealed that those managers’ work performances were positively correlated withtheir superior’s transformational leadership style, rxy = .713 (p = .00). A limitation of thisresearch was related to the accreditation score of the university. In fact, the organization’saccreditation score reflects the leadership style of the owner / employer. The higher scoreindicates that the superior is really appreciated by his / her employees. It seems he / she hasapplied the transformational leadership style. Unfortunately, this research sample does notconsider the accreditation score. Therefore the sample was less likely to be homogenous.Key words: work performance, transformational leadership style.

Abstract

Schizophrenia causes the patients difficulties in building and maintaining social relationships. Furthermore, social dysfunction, which is one of the characteristics of schizophrenia disorder, is related to the lack of social skills. This study aims to find out social skills training towards the increase of social skills in schizophrenia i.e. listening to other, making request, expressing positive and negative feelings skills. The subjects of this study one male schizophrenia inpatients who are being treated in Balai Rehabilitasi Yogyakarta. This research applies A-B-A experiment design. Social skills are measured by conducting an observation and using behavior checklist instrument done by 3 rater. Based on the result of the analysis of the three rater is said ICC-consistency value is (ICC = 0.953), Sig = 0.000 which means that the result of rater 1 research, rater 2 and rater 3 assessment correlate to each other or are identical. In addition, the results of the visual inspection chart can be concluded that there is an increase in social skills on subjects with very low social skills, indicated by changes from phase A1 (8.5) to phase B (13.5) and to phase A2 (16.25) and follow up (17.5). This means that people with schizophrenia experience improved social skills after obtaining social skills training, indicating that social skills training interventions can improve social skills in people with schizophrenia. Key words: Social Skills for Schizophrenia, Social Skills Training

Abstract

Objective of this research was to understand the relationship between self- efficacy (independent variable) and achievement motivation (dependent variable) among university students. There were 60 students participated in this study, aged 18-21 years old, and full-time students. Two instruments were created in this study i.e. the self-efficacy scale and achievement motivation scale. The data collection was analyzed through the product moment correlation technique. This research revealed that there was a positive and significant correlation between the students’ self-efficacy and their achievement motivation (r = .683. p<.01). The self-efficacy variable was able to predict 46.6% of the achievement motivation. The rest was undetected under this research. Probably, the students’ employment situation should be considered, in spite of their status as the full-time students. Employment situation at this time is not only working at an organization, but also becoming an entrepreneur. At this time, it is very common among university students to be a startup entrepreneur. This working situation surely influences their achievement motivation.  Key words: Self-efficacy, Achievement Motivation, University Student.

Abstract

Objective of this study is to understand the influence of self-efficacy training on decreasing work stress among 22 policemen in Yogyakarta. They worked as the community protectors. They were divided randomly into 2 groups i.e. the experiment group (11 policemen) and the control group (11 policemen). The experimental design was the pretest-posttest control group. For this research, we created two instruments to measure the independent and dependent variables respectively i.e. the self-efficacy scale and the work stress scale, and the intervention was the self-efficacy improvement training. The research data were analyzed based on the Wilcoxon Rank Test (to understand the difference of work stress level between the pre-test and posttest groups) and the U-Mann Whitney statistical techniques (to understand the difference of work stress scores between the post-test experiment and control groups. The first hypothesis was confirmed that the Wilcoxon Rank Test Z score = -2.936 (p = .003) was significant. In other words, the work stress level at the post-test ( = 113,91) was much higher because of self-efficacy training than the pre-test ( = 49,09). The second hypothesis was also confirmed that the U-Mann Whitney Z score = -3.977, p = .000 (p<.001) was very significant. In other words, the work stress level at the post-test experiment group ( = 49.09) was much lower than the control group ( = 112.55). Key words: Work Stress, Self-Efficacy Training, Policeman

Abstract

Objective of this research is to understand the satisfaction difference between rural and urban customers toward the PT. X finance service. This customer’s satisfaction was very crucial point for service industry continuities such as bank and life insurance. Customer’s satisfaction was their main interest, since the satisfied customers would pass on their good comments to others. It was likely an informal advertisement but very powerful in influencing others. However, rural and urban customers presumably had different criteria on service quality. The hypothesis was that the rural customers were more likely to satisfy toward PT. X finance service quality than the urban customers were. The urban people were more likely to complain expressively about company’s service than the rural people were. The former customers also searched more on facilities such as bonuses and free opportunity to attend seminar about self-potential improvement. Forty customers participated in this research, 20 people had rural small industries and therefore they called as rural customers. The rest people had small industries in urban areas. We also used the Consumer’s Satisfaction Scale (71 items) as the main instrument to collect data. The scale consisted from five aspects i.e. product, price, place, promotion, and people. The validity score ranged from .226 - .838 and the reliability scores on each aspect respectively were acceptable i.e. .756, .930, .852, .851, and .920. This research revealed that there was significant difference between rural and urban satisfaction regarding the PT. X finance service quality (t = 2.416, p = .021 or p<.05). The rural people ( = 273.15) were more likely satisfy than urban customers do ( = 246.45). The rural people were more likely to continue their satisfied comments to their families and friends than the urban customers were. Higher appreciations toward the PT X’s staffs when serving customers were more prone from rural than urban costumers were. The urban people were more likely to make comparison among other similar finance enterprises. They were stricter on judging enterprise’s service quality. Apparently, many finance enterprises were more available in urban areas and they had tight competitions. In this research, we also suggested that the future researcher should invite the ex-customers to participate in this research. Those specific customers usually had rich dissatisfaction comments on enterprise’s service quality. Key words: Customer’s Satisfaction, Rural, Urban Customers.
