Abstract

Pengabdian ini berdasarkan pada kasus kekerasan di pondok pesantren. Kekerasan memiliki pengaruh misalnya kecenderungan melahirkan pribadi santri sebagai pemberontak, pemarah, trauma, dan masalah kesehatan mental lainnya. Sehubungan dari output pesantren yaitu menjadi pribadi yang cerdas secara emosional selain religious dan terampil dalam mengola masalah kehidupan. Pengabdian ini berfokus pada usaha pendidik membentuk kecerdasan emosional santri melalui disiplin positif dan karakter kecerdasan emosional santri menggunakan pendekatan disiplin positif. Pengabdian ini dilakukan di pondok pesantren dengan peserta pengelola pondok pesantren, guru, dan pengasuh asrama. Hasil sosialisasi ini menggambarkan bahwa Pendekatan disiplin positif ini mendukung program pesantren ramah santri. Pendekatan disiplin positif bukan tidak membenarkan hukuman sama sekali, namun hukuman bukan cara yang terbaik dalam menyelesaikan masalah yang dihadapi santri dan efektif untuk jangka panjang. Pendekatan disiplin berorientasi untuk menumbuhkan keyakinan santri. Pendidik pesantren dapat membentuk kecerdasan emosional dengan pendekatan disiplin positif, diantaranya memberikan kesempatan kepada santri sehingga santri tidak kehilangan rasa kontribusi, rasa dihargai, dan rasa perduli. Memberikan validasi perasaan atau memahami perasaan santri. Strateginya dapat dilakukan seperti pertemuan kelas, melibatkan santri dalam pemecahan masalah, dan membangun rasa memiliki (dihargai).

Abstract

Institut Agama Islam (IAI) Hidayatullah Batam berpartisipasi dalam Konferensi Internasional Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi Indonesia (KPPTI) ke-3 yang berlangsung di Batam pada tanggal 5-8 November 2024. Konferensi ini mengusung tema Policies, Libraries, and Artificial Intelligence: Managing Digital Technology to Enhance Higher Education Quality. Kegiatan ini membahas berbagai isu terkait transformasi digital, penerapan kecerdasan buatan (AI) dalam pengelolaan perpustakaan, serta penandatanganan Nota Kesepahaman (MoU) antara Perpustakaan Nasional RI dengan 34 perguruan tinggi se-Indonesia. Kegiatan ini menggunakan metode pengamatan (observasi). observasi merupakan proses pengamatan sistematis dari aktivitas manusia dan pengaturan fisik dimana kegiatan tersebut berlangsung secara terus menerus dari aktivitas bersifat alami untuk menghasilkan fakta. Penggunaan metode ini dengan melalui tiga tahapan yakni (1) tahapan persiapan, (2) tahapan pelaksanaan dan (3) tahapan evaluasi. IAI Hidayatullah Batam ikut berkontribusi sebagai panitia lokal, membacakan doa pembukaan, serta menjadi salah satu lokasi kunjungan peserta konferensi. Penandatanganan MoU dengan Perpustakaan Nasional RI menjadi langkah strategis untuk memperkuat kerja sama dalam pengembangan layanan perpustakaan, sumber daya manusia, dan infrastruktur teknologi. Selain itu, peserta kunjungan ke Kampus Hidayatullah Batam memberikan pengalaman tentang metode pendidikan berbasis lembaga pengabdian. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan pentingnya kolaborasi antarlembaga dan penerapan teknologi digital untuk meningkatkan aksesibilitas informasi, pengelolaan perpustakaan, dan kualitas pendidikan tinggi di era digital. Transformasi perpustakaan dengan memanfaatkan AI menjadi fokus strategi yang mendorong terciptanya ekosistem pendidikan tinggi yang inovatif dan kompetitif.

Abstract

Program pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan perempuan di Desa Pasir Selabau, Kecamatan Sungai Lala, Kabupaten Indragiri Hulu, melalui pendidikan Islam. Kegiatan ini dirancang untuk meningkatkan pemahaman perempuan terhadap ajaran Islam yang relevan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari serta membekali mereka dengan keterampilan berbasis nilai-nilai Islam, sehingga mereka dapat berperan lebih aktif dalam meningkatkan kualitas hidup keluarga dan masyarakat. Pendekatan yang digunakan meliputi pelatihan keterampilan, pendampingan langsung, penguatan organisasi masyarakat, serta metode partisipatif yang melibatkan perempuan dalam perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi program. Program ini juga membangun kemitraan dengan berbagai pihak, termasuk pemerintah daerah dan tokoh agama, untuk memaksimalkan dukungan terhadap keberhasilan program. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam partisipasi perempuan di bidang sosial dan ekonomi, pemahaman agama yang lebih mendalam, serta keterampilan yang lebih memadai dalam menjalankan peran mereka di masyarakat. Dengan demikian, program ini terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kualitas hidup perempuan dan memberdayakan mereka untuk mandiri. Keberhasilan ini diharapkan berkelanjutan dan dapat menjadi model pemberdayaan masyarakat yang diterapkan di daerah lain.

Abstract

Reading ability is a very important basic skill in basic education, especially for high school students. However, low interest and reading comprehension are problems that need to be overcome. This community service project aims to determine the process of socializing the use of learning media to improve students' reading comprehension in upper elementary school classes. The method used is Participatory Action Research (PAR). The results of the community service show that the socialization of the use of learning media, such as picture books, big books, and interactive media, has a positive impact on increasing students' motivation, interest, and reading comprehension. Therefore, selecting appropriate learning media is crucial in creating an effective and efficient reading learning process.

Abstract

Creativity is one of the important aspects of early childhood development that needs to be stimulated from an early age through a fun and contextual approach. One of the effective media to develop children's creativity is educational crafts, because they are able to train fine motor skills, imagination, and divergent thinking skills. However, there are still many PAUD teachers who do not have adequate skills and knowledge in designing and making crafts that are in accordance with the stage of child development. In response to this, this community service activity aims to improve teachers' competence in making educational crafts with the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, which focuses on utilizing the potential and assets owned by the community. The activity was carried out in District Rengat involving 25 teachers from various PAUD institutions. The implementation stages include mapping local assets, training on techniques for making crafts from recycled and local materials, and implementation assistance in learning. The results showed that teachers were able to create various types of thematic crafts that were interesting and supported learning, such as story dolls made of patchwork, letters and numbers from cardboard, and environment-based props. In addition to improving teachers' skills, another impact observed is the increase in children's participation and enthusiasm in learning activities. This training not only builds teacher capacity, but also encourages community collaboration in supporting children's creativity. This service is expected to be a sustainable first step in improving the quality of early childhood education services based on local potential.

Abstract

This community service program discusses efforts to build the character of a great generation in Islamic boarding schools through strengthening literacy. Low literacy rates in several Islamic boarding schools are a major concern, as they impact the less than optimal character formation of students and hinder the achievement of the Islamic boarding school's vision of producing a generation that is religious, intelligent, and capable of facing the challenges of the times. Therefore, this community service program focuses on improving students' reading, writing, digital, and critical literacy skills. The method used includes the PAR (Participatory Action Research) method by involving active participation and communication or research subjects in every stage, from problem identification to implementation and evaluation. The results of the community service show a significant increase in literacy skills and the formation of students' character who are more religious, have integrity, and are able to think critically. This program makes a real contribution to producing the next generation of the nation who are superior and have good morals, and is recommended as a model for literacy-based character development in other Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

This community service aims to socialize the traces of the Nusantara civilization, which can be optimized as a learning resource in social science education. Social science provides the intellectual foundation for evaluating historical artifacts. History at the elementary school level plays a crucial role in shaping students' national identity and patriotic values. The main focus of this research is on the utilization of historical relics such as temples, inscriptions, statues, and cultural artifacts scattered throughout various regions of Indonesia. In addition, it aims to make learning more contextual, meaningful, and interesting for students. The research method used is AssetBased Community Development, which is a community empowerment method that emphasizes the identification and utilization of existing resources and capabilities within the community. Meanwhile, the data collection techniques in this method consist of documentation such as lesson plans and textbooks. The research findings indicate that integrating historical artifacts into social studies curriculum not only enhances students' interest and motivation in learning but also strengthens their understanding of the development of Indonesian civilization over time. Furthermore, this approach fosters an appreciation for culture, tolerance, love for the homeland, and a sense of ownership toward the nation's ancestral heritage. These findings recommend the need for innovative, locally-based cultural learning approaches and teacher training in developing teaching strategies that connect historical content with the students' surrounding environment.

Abstract

The extent to which adolescents are able to recognize and understand their emotions determines their ability to manage emotions. This community service discusses the socialization of psychoeducation as an early intervention in adolescent emotion management. Adolescents in orphanages who have not been able to recognize the various emotions they have need attention, because this can affect the way they manage emotions, thus having a negative impact on the learning process. Therefore, this service program is focused on psychoeducation related to the recognition of emotions, the function of emotions, the kinds of emotions, the application of emotions, and how to manage emotions, and express emotions properly. The method used includes the PAR (Participatory Action Research) method by involving active participation from the community or research subjects in every stage, from problem identification to implementation and evaluation. The results of the community service showed that the psychoeducational socialization activities related to adolescent emotional management consisted of a pre-test, two sessions of material (i.e., session 1 on the socialization of the seminar on self-awareness of emotions, and session 2 on the delivery of material on how to manage emotions and express emotions appropriately), and concluded with a post-test related to emotional management. In addition, there was a significant increase in understanding of emotions and how to manage them. The psychoeducational socialization activities helped adolescents in the orphanage to better recognize their feelings and learn how to express them appropriately. This program contributes to shaping the next generation of a superior and noble nation. Psychoeducation can also be an initial solution for adolescent emotion management and can be applied in other orphanages.

Abstract

Social-emotional problems among junior high school students—such as anxiety, low self-confidence, difficulty in building peer relationships, and behavioral issues—are significant challenges that can hinder both academic and personal development. One preventive approach to address these issues is through structured and professional individual counseling services. This community service program aimed to enhance the capacity of guidance and counseling (BK) teachers in implementing individual counseling as a means of preventing students’ social-emotional problems. The program was carried out at SMPI Integral Lukman Alhakim 02 Batam through three main stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The methods involved workshops, simulation practices, supervision, and evaluation using pre-tests and post-tests. The results showed a significant improvement in the understanding and skills of BK teachers in conducting individual counseling. Participant reflections also indicated that the assistance was highly beneficial in helping them implement counseling services more systematically and effectively. This activity highlights the importance of strengthening the capacity of BK teachers as the front-liners in identifying and managing students’ social-emotional challenges through preventive interventions.

Abstract

The 21st century requires educational approaches that integrate science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) to foster critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills from an early educational level. However, the implementation of STEAM in elementary schools remains challenged by teachers’ limited conceptual understanding and the absence of structured and sustainable training models. This article aims to formulate a conceptual framework for STEAM training for elementary school teachers aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum. This community service uses the Participatory Action Research Method, and synthesizing relevant academic literature, educational policies, and empirical studies published between 2021 and 2025. The findings propose a STEAM training model consisting of four main phases: strengthening the philosophical foundation of STEAM, integrating local wisdom and the Merdeka Curriculum, developing project-based STEAM teaching modules, and establishing a collaborative and reflective professional learning community. The model emphasizes that effective STEAM training should not merely focus on technical skills but must be grounded in a strong conceptual foundation to support sustainable teacher professional development. This conceptual framework is expected to serve as a reference for designing adaptive STEAM training programs for elementary school teachers in response to 21st-century learning demands.
