Abstract

This community service the implementation of positive discipline in the Child-Friendly Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren Ramah Anak/PRA) program and its impact on students' mental health. The paradigm shift from authoritarian punishment-based discipline to humanistic and restorative approaches has become imperative, given that traditional disciplinary practices may cause psychological trauma and increase students' anxiety. This community service uses the Participatory Action Research Method, to identify practices, challenges, and psychological impacts of positive discipline implementation in Islamic boarding schools. The findings reveal that core positive discipline practices include dialogical techniques (musyawarah/deliberation), individual coaching based on mutual respect, and participatory rule formulation. Main implementation challenges include cultural resistance to traditional ta'dib concepts and teacher workload. Successful adaptation strategies encompass recontextualizing positive discipline within Islamic values such as syura (consultation) and rahmah (compassion), as well as involving senior students as agents of change. Significant impacts on students' mental health include increased sense of safety, decreased anxiety and stress levels, and development of emotional regulation skills and empathy. This community service affirms that PRA success must be measured not only by the absence of physical violence but also by the quality of psychological environment that supports children's resilience.

Abstract

This community service aims to implement the use of the Counting Board (PATUNG) teaching aid in improving the mathematics learning outcomes of Grade VII students, especially on materials related to integer and fraction arithmetic operations. The method used is the Implementation and Evaluation Method, which combines the implementation of the use of teaching aids, direct student practice, and evaluation of learning products. The subjects of this community service were 17 grade VII students of Miftahul Iqrar Islamic Boarding School. The research instrument was a student learning outcome test. The results of the community service showed that after the implementation of the PATUNG media, students' learning outcomes increased from an average pretest of 80.13 to an average posttest of 93.33. In addition, students played an active role in the learning process by directly trying out the PATUNG teaching aid to solve the problems given, thus fostering self-confidence in working on integer material. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of the "Patung" teaching aid Counting Board can improve student learning outcomes. The implications of this study confirm that the application of concrete teaching aids such as STATUES can effectively overcome the abstract nature of mathematics and significantly improve students' understanding and learning outcomes.

Abstract

National journal accreditation is one of the eligibility criteria that shows a journal can be accredited or recognized nationally. STIT Hidayatullah Batam strives to provide accreditation assistance for national journals, specifically the journal of the Elementary Madrasah Teacher Education Study Program (PGMI), namely the journal Ta'diban: Journal of Islamic Education. This community service aims to understand the process of accreditation assistance for national journals on Ta'diban: Journal of Islamic Education. The method used is the Participation Action Research (PAR) method. The results of the community service show that the assistance is carried out by analyzing the obstacles and shortcomings of the Ta'diban Journal. Furthermore, assistance is provided in the process of improving the Ta'diban Journal until it is successful in submitting the National Journal Accreditation application.

Abstract

Deviant behavior is behavior that does not conform to norms and is carried out by students. This behavior initially develops in the classroom. Preventing deviant behavior is a must for teachers. This community service aims to broaden teachers' understanding and skills in reducing student deviant behavior through child-friendly classroom management. The method used is a participatory education-based educational socialization approach. The results of the study indicate an increase in teachers' understanding of student deviant behavior in the classroom and the strategies that can be used. The emergence of student problems is a sign that students are growing, seeking direction, and need guidance. Teachers, as adults, have an obligation to accompany students' learning process amidst increasingly dynamic conditions. Child-friendly classroom management ensures that students' rights are fulfilled, guaranteed, and protected in obtaining education, and teachers can raise students' awareness about learning in school.

Abstract

The quality of the built environment is known to significantly influence students' psychological well-being and learning creativity; however, visual literacy and spatial awareness are rarely taught explicitly in general high school curricula. This community service initiative aimed to introduce basic architectural concepts to students at SMA Negeri 10 Batang Hari to foster their visual awareness and spatial understanding. The approach employed architectural pedagogy through interactive lectures and discussions, involving seven lecturers from UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi. The material covered fundamental architectural elements, aesthetic principles, and the relationship between humans and space. The results indicate that students gained a new perspective on their school and home environments, viewing them no longer merely as physical structures but as meaningful spaces. The activity successfully stimulated critical thinking regarding design aspects and spatial function, although future continuity would require practice-based workshops—such as drawing or model-making—to allow for the concrete application of the knowledge gained. Overall, this program helped bridge the gap between architectural education and the general public while nurturing a generation more attuned to the quality of their surrounding built environment.

Abstract

The Riau Islands Province, as an international border region, experiences a high intensity of maritime activities, making it vulnerable to various forms of transnational crimes. The Directorate of Water and Air Police (Ditpolairud) of the Riau Islands Regional Police frequently handles cases involving foreign nationals. One of the main obstacles in the investigation process is language barriers. Therefore, the assistance of English interpreters plays a crucial role in accelerating and facilitating the investigation process. This community service activity aims to enhance the capacity of interpreters and Gakkum Ditpolairud personnel in supporting effective case investigations. The methods applied include training, direct assistance, case simulations, and evaluations. The results indicate that interpreter assistance improves investigation time efficiency, enhances the quality of official investigation reports, and strengthens the juridical aspects of cases. This activity makes a tangible contribution to improving professionalism and accountability in maritime law enforcement at Ditpolairud of the Riau Islands Regional Police.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a strategic role in the community’s economy; however, many MSME actors still face challenges in managing business administration. Manual record-keeping practices result in poorly organized business data, difficulties in financial monitoring, and obstacles to effective business decision-making. This community service activity aims to improve the capacity of MSME actors in utilizing computer technology to digitalize business administration. The implementation methods include planning, socialization, training on the use of computer applications, assistance in applying digital administration, as well as monitoring and evaluation. The results indicate an increase in MSME actors’ understanding and skills in managing digital business administration, particularly in financial record-keeping, business data management, and preparation of administrative documents. Administrative digitalization has a positive impact on data organization, business management efficiency, and the professionalism of MSME actors. Although challenges remain related to varying levels of digital literacy and consistency in implementation, overall, this activity successfully achieved its intended objectives. This community service program is expected to serve as a model for sustainable MSME digitalization support.

Abstract

This community service initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of final-year students—prospective teachers and administrators of Islamic education—at the Al Mubarok College of Islamic Education (STIT) in Bandar Mataram through basic Islamic academic training. The activity was conducted in the form of a two-day Ramadhan Camp workshop (March 13–14, 2026) with 58 eighth-semester students from the Islamic Education (PAI), Elementary Madrasah Teacher Education (PGMI), and Islamic Education Management (MPI) programs. Training materials included thoharah and prayer practice, women’s issues (masalatunnisa’), funeral preparations (tajhizul janaiz), Hajj and Umrah, and zakat. The methods used were participatory approaches such as demonstrations, paired practice, simulations, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and case studies. Evaluation was conducted through participatory observation, discussion dynamics, and feedback provided by the students. The results indicate that this workshop successfully transformed participants’ understanding from theoretical knowledge into solid procedural skills, with FGDs proven effective for sensitive topics as they fostered an inclusive discussion environment. The psychological impact of the training included increased self-confidence among participants as prospective graduates ready to serve as community references in religious practices—as part of an Islamic-based university’s alumni—as well as the development of brotherhood and inter-departmental collaboration. In conclusion, the Ramadhan Camp workshop is effective in equipping final-semester students with basic fiqh skills in the form of practical worship. It is recommended that follow-up programs be implemented, such as community internships, an extension of the training duration, and making this activity a mandatory annual agenda for eighth-semester students.

Abstract

The Community Service Program conducted by teaching assistance students through the Mathematics Research Club at UPTD SMAN 1 Majene aimed to enhance conceptual understanding, learning motivation, and basic research skills of tenth-grade students using contextual and investigative learning approaches. This program implemented the Participatory Action Research (PAR) model, consisting of identifying initial conditions, analyzing learning problems, designing the program, carrying out research club activities, and conducting reflection. Data were collected through observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation during the two-month implementation period. The results indicate 72,2% students’ engagement during discussions, confidence in expressing ideas, ability to solve contextual problems, and skills in conducting simple research using research-based worksheets. In addition to improving students’ numeracy literacy, the program strengthened the pedagogical, communication, and leadership competencies of the participating university students. Therefore, the Mathematics Research Club program has proven effective as a mentoring strategy that can create more active, collaborative, and meaningful learning for high school students.

Abstract

Sharia financial literacy serves as a fundamental element of Sharia financial management that should be instilled in students from an early age. Developments in the digital era have given rise to various financial issues, notably the increase in cybercrimes—such as predatory online lending and illegal gambling—that threaten the future of the younger generation. Financial literacy levels among students (aged 15–29) remain low, leaving them vulnerable to becoming victims of such cybercrimes. This community service initiative aimed to raise student awareness and understanding regarding the dangers of online lending and illegal gambling, while also enhancing their ability to manage finances effectively. The program employed a participatory-educational approach featuring seminars, interactive discussions, and simulations on creating simple financial plans based on Sharia principles. Participant understanding was evaluated by comparing pre-test and post-test results regarding the risks associated with online lending and illegal gambling, as well as Sharia financial management. The evaluation revealed an 80% improvement in participants' understanding of these issues and Sharia financial management practices. These findings indicate a need for widespread Sharia financial education—particularly among students—to foster wise, responsible financial management aligned with Sharia principles, thereby protecting them from the pitfalls of online lending and illegal gambling.
