Abstract

This study aims to analyze the bioecology of the Tamanu plant (Calophyllum inophyllum) on Kuranji Beach, West Lombok Regency. The method used was direct observation by measuring soil temperature, soil pH, and soil moisture in the plant's habitat. The results showed that the soil temperature was 35°C, soil pH 6.7, and soil moisture 1.8, indicating dry conditions. These conditions reflect the characteristics of coastal environments with high temperatures and low water availability. Soil temperature plays a role in plant metabolic activity, soil pH affects nutrient availability, while soil moisture is the main limiting factor in growth. Nevertheless, nyamplung is able to adapt well to these conditions so it can still grow in coastal environments.

Abstract

Plant collection and preservation are essential steps in botanical studies to support species identification and biodiversity documentation. This study aims to describe the techniques of collecting and preserving teak (Tectona grandis) in Turida Village, Sandubaya District, Mataram City. The method used was a field survey with direct sampling of representative vegetative parts. Preservation was carried out using herbarium techniques, including pressing, drying, and labeling the specimens. The results indicate that proper collection techniques greatly influence specimen quality, particularly in maintaining key morphological characteristics for accurate identification. In addition, appropriate preservation methods enhance specimen durability for long-term use. Therefore, the application of systematic collection and preservation techniques contributes to botanical research and supports sustainable biodiversity conservation efforts.

Abstract

Bioecological research on jamplong plants in coastal areas is important for understanding the relationship between organisms and their abiotic and biotic environments. Jamplong is a coastal species that can adapt well to extreme environmental conditions such as high salinity, strong winds, and sandy soils. In conducting research, bioethical aspects are an important foundation to ensure that scientific activities do not damage the ecosystem. This study aims to examine the bioecological condition of jamplong plants while also evaluating the application of bioethical principles at Kuranji Beach, West Lombok Regency. The methods used include a literature study and field observations to obtain direct data. The results show that the population of jamplong plants remains abundant with a relatively even distribution in coastal areas, and no violations of bioethical principles were found during the research. This study confirms that bioecological research can be conducted sustainably while still adhering to bioethical principles in order to maintain the balance of coastal ecosystems.

Abstract

Coastal ecosystems consist of lively habitats marked by elevated temperatures, salinity levels, significant wind exposure, and minimal soil moisture, all of which affect the growth and spread of plant species. The coconut tree (Cocos nucifera) stands out as a prevalent species in tropical coastal regions owing to its exceptional ability to adapt. The objective of this research is to assess the bioecological traits of coconut trees located at Kuranji Beach, in the West Lombok Regency, through direct environmental observations. The study utilized a descriptive observational approach, focusing on measurements of soil temperature, soil acidity, and moisture levels in the soil. Findings revealed that the soil temperature was at 35°C, soil pH measured between 7 and 7.5 (indicating neutrality to slight alkalinity), while soil moisture was identified as low (indicating dry conditions). These results suggest that the coastal habitat imposes challenges for plant development; nonetheless, coconut trees show significant adaptation capabilities through both structural and functional responses. This research highlights the crucial ecological role that coconut vegetation plays in sustaining coastal durability and resilience.
