Abstract

General Background: Organizations increasingly rely on collaborative work structures to achieve institutional goals and maintain productivity in dynamic environments. Specific Background: Teamwork is widely recognized as a managerial approach that enables employees to share knowledge, coordinate tasks, and address organizational challenges collectively. Knowledge Gap: Despite the widespread application of teamwork in organizations, empirical understanding of its role in shaping organizational performance across different institutional contexts remains limited. Aims: This study examines the relationship between work teams and organizational performance in organizations located in Amman, Cairo, and Baghdad. Results: Using a theoretical framework and a field survey based on questionnaire data, statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between teamwork practices and organizational performance indicators. The findings show that teamwork facilitates knowledge exchange, strengthens trust among employees, and supports collaborative problem solving within organizations. Regression analysis indicates that teamwork explains a considerable proportion of variation in organizational performance. Novelty: The study provides empirical evidence demonstrating the managerial role of teamwork as a strategic organizational practice within different institutional environments. Implications: The findings highlight the importance of fostering collaborative cultures, supporting team formation, and encouraging participation among employees to strengthen organizational productivity and coordination. Abstract

General Background The open access movement has transformed scholarly communication by promoting unrestricted access to scientific knowledge and research outputs. Academic libraries play a crucial role in managing and providing access to digital resources within this evolving information ecosystem. Specific Background As open access materials continue to expand, libraries are increasingly integrating these resources into their digital collections while adapting traditional collection development strategies. Knowledge Gap Despite these developments, many libraries face challenges in balancing open access dissemination with intellectual property protection and copyright compliance, creating uncertainty in digital collection management practices. Aims This study examines how academic libraries incorporate open access resources into digital collections while addressing intellectual property and copyright issues. Results The findings indicate that libraries must adopt new evaluation, licensing, and management strategies to integrate open access materials effectively while ensuring legal compliance and ethical use of information resources. Novelty The study highlights the relationship between open access adoption and intellectual property challenges in digital collection development within academic libraries. Implications The results provide insights for libraries seeking to develop sustainable digital collection strategies that support open access while maintaining responsible intellectual property management. Abstract

General Background: Firm value reflects investor perception of performance and prospects, while banking stability is closely linked to financial and sustainability practices. Specific Background: Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) disclosure and Net Interest Margin (NIM) are considered key indicators in assessing sustainability and financial performance in the banking sector. Knowledge Gap: Prior studies show inconsistent findings on ESG–firm value relationships, with limited focus on banking using NIM and the moderating role of firm size over a long observation period. Aims: This study analyzes the relationship between ESG disclosure and NIM on firm value, with firm size as a moderating variable in Indonesian listed banks during 2013–2024. Results: The findings reveal that ESG disclosure and NIM simultaneously relate to firm value with limited contribution, ESG shows a negative relationship, NIM is not significant, and firm size does not moderate these relationships. Novelty: This study integrates ESG and NIM within the banking context using firm size moderation and a relatively long observation period. Implications: The results indicate that sustainability practices in Indonesian banking have not been fully valued by the market, highlighting the need to improve transparency and integration of sustainability with financial performance to strengthen investor confidence and firm value. Abstract

General Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a multisystem infectious disease with diverse clinical manifestations and outcomes, particularly among hospitalized patients. Specific Background: Individuals with chronic diseases frequently experience more complicated clinical courses during COVID-19 infection, requiring detailed clinical and laboratory assessment to understand disease progression. Knowledge Gap: Despite numerous investigations, uncertainty remains regarding which clinical and laboratory characteristics are associated with severe and critical forms of COVID-19 in patients with multiple underlying conditions. Aims: This study analyzed the clinical manifestations and laboratory characteristics of COVID-19 patients with comorbid conditions and identified indicators associated with severe disease progression. Results: A total of 182 hospitalized patients with moderate, severe, and critical COVID-19 were examined during 2021–2022 using comprehensive clinical, laboratory, and instrumental assessments. The majority presented with severe disease (80.8%). Coronary heart disease, hypertension, anemia, type 2 diabetes mellitus, and obesity were the most frequent accompanying conditions. Severe and critical cases were more common among elderly individuals and those with multiple concurrent disorders. Clinical manifestations included fever, cough, dyspnea, and weakness, frequently accompanied by bilateral or polysegmental pneumonia and respiratory failure. Laboratory findings showed leukocytosis, neutrophilia, lymphopenia, elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate, increased C-reactive protein levels, hyperglycemia, and altered liver and renal function markers, particularly in critically ill patients. Novelty: The study provides integrated clinical and laboratory characterization of hospitalized COVID-19 patients with multiple concurrent diseases. Implications: Identification of these clinical and laboratory indicators supports early risk stratification, timely initiation of intensive treatment, and improved management of patients with severe COVID-19. Highlights: Elderly Hospitalized Individuals Frequently Present Severe or Critical Disease Stages. Respiratory Failure and Bilateral Pneumonia Appear Commonly in Advanced Clinical Cases. Abstract

General Background: The Holy Qur’an serves as a fundamental source of moral values, ethics, and social guidance in Islamic societies. Specific Background: In Iraq, characterized by sectarian diversity and strong religious traditions, Qur’anic teachings contribute to shaping individual and collective behaviour. Knowledge Gap: However, integrated social analyses examining how Qur’anic principles guide behavioural formation within the Iraqi context remain limited. Aims: This study aims to analyse the role of the Holy Qur’an in shaping human behaviour in Iraqi society from a social perspective. Results: The findings indicate that the Qur’an provides a behavioural framework through legislative guidance, Qur’anic narratives, moral accountability, and ethical values such as justice, responsibility, cooperation, and spiritual purification. The study also shows that religious authorities, educational institutions, and community initiatives contribute to translating Qur’anic teachings into social practices. Novelty: This research presents an integrated social analysis linking Qur’anic teachings, interpretative diversity between Sunni and Shia traditions, and behavioural formation in Iraq. Implications: Strengthening Qur’anic education and encouraging inter-sectarian dialogue may support the development of ethical conduct and social cohesion in Iraqi society. Abstract

General Background: Polymer materials have become essential components in modern technology due to their lightweight structure, chemical stability, and adaptable physical characteristics. Specific Background: Advances in polymer science have enabled the modification of molecular structures and the integration of nanoparticles, allowing polymers to perform functions beyond traditional insulating and structural roles. Knowledge Gap: Despite extensive use in industrial and technological fields, a comprehensive conceptual synthesis linking polymer structure, classification, properties, and emerging nanotechnology applications remains necessary to clarify their functional relationships. Aims: This study analyzes the fundamental principles of polymer science, including structural composition, polymerization mechanisms, classifications, and key physical and chemical properties, while highlighting emerging nanopolymer applications. Results: The analysis demonstrates that polymer performance is strongly related to molecular structure, degree of polymerization, and intermolecular interactions. The integration of metal and oxide nanoparticles within polymer matrices introduces additional optical, electrical, and catalytic functionalities. Novelty: The work provides an integrated conceptual overview connecting classical polymer theory with modern nanocomposite developments in materials science. Implications: Understanding the structure–property relationship of polymers supports the development of advanced materials for applications in electronics, renewable energy systems, biosensors, and biomedical technologies, while also emphasizing the importance of sustainable polymer research. Abstract

General Background: Trichomonas vaginalis is one of the most prevalent protozoan sexually transmitted infections affecting women and is associated with reproductive and inflammatory complications. Specific Background: Accurate molecular detection and characterization of the parasite are essential for understanding its epidemiology and its interaction with host immune responses. Knowledge Gap: Despite the widespread occurrence of trichomoniasis, limited molecular and immunological data are available regarding the genetic diversity of local isolates and their relationship with inflammatory biomarkers in Iraqi populations. Aims: This study investigated the prevalence of T. vaginalis infection among women in Wasit Province, Iraq, using PCR targeting the internal transcribed spacer 1 (ITS1) region, examined the phylogenetic relationships of detected isolates, and assessed associated immune markers including cysteinyl leukotrienes, interleukin-8, and leukotriene B4. Results: Molecular analysis identified a 7.56% infection rate among 291 examined women. Sequencing and phylogenetic analysis of 22 isolates revealed strong similarity with previously reported Iraqi strains. Infected women demonstrated significantly elevated levels of CysLTs, IL-8, and LTB4 compared with non-infected individuals. Novelty: The study integrates molecular detection, phylogenetic characterization, and immunological biomarker evaluation of T. vaginalis isolates in a single population-based investigation. Implications: These findings contribute to improved epidemiological understanding of trichomoniasis and highlight the potential role of inflammatory mediators in the pathophysiology of infection. Abstract

General Background: Ascites in women of reproductive age presents a complex diagnostic problem because it may arise from gynecological, oncological, infectious, or systemic diseases. Specific Background: Peritoneal and genital tuberculosis often show chronic and nonspecific manifestations that mimic other abdominal and pelvic disorders. Knowledge Gap: The absence of specific clinical and laboratory indicators frequently delays accurate identification of the etiology of unexplained ascites. Aims: This study describes a clinical case applying an active diagnostic approach to determine the cause of ascites in a reproductive-age woman with a history of disseminated tuberculosis, menstrual dysfunction, and infertility. Results: Diagnostic laparoscopy with ascitic fluid sampling and peritoneal biopsy revealed serous ascitic fluid, peritoneal hyperemia, and fibrinous deposits, while bacteriological and histological analyses showed a chronic inflammatory process without confirmation of tuberculous infection or malignancy. Novelty: The case demonstrates the clinical value of combining multidisciplinary evaluation with early invasive diagnostic procedures in unexplained ascites. Implications: Inclusion of peritoneal and genital tuberculosis in the differential diagnostic algorithm and the use of diagnostic laparoscopy can support accurate etiological clarification and guide therapeutic decision-making in tuberculosis-endemic regions. Abstract

This study addresses performance development in pencak silat, emphasizing the role of physical conditioning in technical execution. General Background: Pencak silat performance relies on the integration of physical fitness and technical skills, particularly in executing effective kicking techniques. Specific Background: The sickle kick is a fundamental offensive technique requiring optimal leg swing, body stability, and hip rotation, yet athletes at Perguruan Margaluyu 151 demonstrate low kick speed due to insufficiently targeted leg muscle training. Knowledge Gap: Existing training programs emphasize technique without structured focus on leg muscle strengthening, limiting the transfer of physical capacity to kick performance. Aims: This study aims to analyze the effect of leg muscle training on improving sickle kick speed. Results: Using a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design with 30 male athletes, results show a mean score increase from 15.9 to 22.1, with a paired sample t-test value of -17.147 and significance of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant improvement. Novelty: This study provides a specific analysis linking leg muscle training to sickle kick speed within a real training context at the perguruan level. Implications: The findings suggest that structured leg muscle training contributes to measurable improvements in kick speed and supports the development of targeted training programs aligned with athlete performance needs. This study examines the role of English within global political communication by situating it as more than a neutral linguistic medium. General Background: English has become the dominant international language in diplomacy, media, and transnational interaction, shaping communication patterns worldwide. Specific Background: Its widespread use in political discourse positions it as a carrier of ideological meanings embedded within language structures and usage contexts. Knowledge Gap: However, limited attention has been given to how English operates as an instrument that conveys and reinforces political ideology across different sociopolitical environments. Aims: This research aims to analyze how English functions as a tool for expressing and disseminating political ideology in global discourse. Results: The findings reveal that English is strategically employed to frame narratives, legitimize power structures, and influence perception in political communication, particularly through media and institutional discourse.
