Abstract

This study raises the issue of political communication of kiai Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) in the contestation of regional head elections (Pilkada) and the agenda of developing civil society in Pasuruan Regency. Giddens' (1984) theory of structuration is used as a point of departure to develop key themes relevant to the data. The purpose of this research with the major theme of political communication is to understand the dialectical complexity between structure and agency that places the kiai (agent) as creative individuals and has the transformative capacity to produce and reproduce structures that on the one hand tend to limit (limiting-disable) and on the other hand, tend to be limiting. the other party enables (enabling) action, all of which is carried out by the kiai in his position as a political communicator of the religious elite for the development of civil society. This theme becomes interesting because there are many NU kiai who are directly or indirectly involved in the political map of the Pilkada that took place in this country. In fact, on one side of the organization, NU as a forum for the organization of the kiai has declared khithah as the paradigm of its struggle.

Abstract

Some people may not think that the formation of a market is intertwined because of branched communication, even it was only through one-way communication at first, which is considered sufficient to be called a market through only one transaction. Moreover, understanding of market is only limited to the place and not understanding the substance of the market. The theory of market evolution of al ghazali is a prototype for the birth of the market, but it do not mention that the market is the place as today. The description of communication in theory needs to be understood in more depth, so that it can describe the advanced aspects of the pattern of business communication which is the benchmark. In addition, this communication has a pattern that will eventually shape the next new markets. This research is descriptive qualitative that observes the symptoms and phenomena that occur around al-Ghazali's theory of market evolution from the aspect of business communication, so that it produces an equivalent term, namely communication needs. This research produces three possible formulations, namely finding patterns of business communication which are the basis for the birth of advanced aspects, business communication patterns in al-Ghazali's theory of market evolution have the nature of a Need Communication Link (communication needs channel). The next aspects are communication needs and communication segmentation. Both are born simultaneously, but they have different domains. Communication needs gave birth to new market branches. In other words, if there is a need, then there must be communication, either new needs with new communications or something else. It is called by communication needs at the next level which create other new needs. Whereas segmentation communication creates significant and profitable objects from business lines that run through the supply and demand base, even under certain conditions it creates its own demand, at a certain time and place.

Abstract

In a broader sense, da'wah calls upon us to convey messages to humanity, including individuals with visual impairments. The da'wah messages are diverse, encompassing both Divine words (the Qur'an) and the sayings of the Prophet (al-Hadith). However, in the current context, da'wah to visually impaired individuals, especially in learning the Braille Qur'an, has received limited attention. Effective communication strategies are essential to enhance da'wah's efforts for this community of visually impaired individuals. The research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, as it aims to provide an in-depth understanding of communication strategies in da'wah and their role in improving the Braille Qur'an reading abilities of visually impaired individuals, with a case study of the Quran Museum and the Da'wah Center for Disability Quran Studies (PSQD) in Jember.

Abstract

In today's era of modern technology, the dissemination of da'wah has become highly widespread through new media, including YouTube. This means that many da’i or Islamic scholars (kiai) are now using this popular platform to share various da'wah content based on their respective educational backgrounds. Nowadays, da'wah content is easily accessible and can be watched simply by clicking on the desired title, which then presents a menu of da'wah content representing different ideological streams. Therefore, it is important to recognize that on YouTube, there are Kiai YouTubers who adhere to either radical or moderate ideologies. This phenomenon has sparked the researcher’s interest to analyze and map which Kiai YouTubers fall under radical or moderate streams. The research focuses on (1) How is the landscape of radical Kiai YouTubers shaped? (2) How is the landscape of moderate Kiai YouTubers shaped?. The objectives of the research are (1) To identify the landscape of radical Kiai YouTubers. 2) To identify the moderate Kiai YouTubers. The research uses a qualitative approach with Ferdinand de Saussure’s semiotic analysis. The data sources consist of da’wah content from both radical and moderate Kiai YouTube channels. Data collection techniques include document analysis and audiovisual materials. Data analysis employs Ferdinand de Saussure’s semiotic theory. The validity of the data is ensured through prolonged observation, source triangulation, and adequate referencing. The results of this study identified five radical Kiai YouTubers: Kiai Yazid Jawas, Kiai Abdul Hakim bin Amir, Kiai Ahmad Zainuddin, Kiai Subhan Bawazier, and Kiai Fatih Karim. Additionally, five moderate Kiai YouTubers were also identified: Kiai Bahauddin Nursalim, Kiai Adi Hidayat, Kiai Quraish Shihab, Kiai Husein Ja’far, and Kiai Said Aqil Siradj.

Abstract

The Kediri area is divided into two, the City area and the Regency area. The city area contains 3 sub-districts. Pakelan sub-district is located in the Kota District area, precisely west of Jl. Doho, Kediri city. The Pakelan area is known as an ethnic Chinese area, because the majority of the population in this area is Chinese and Javanese. The existence of two different ethnicities will automatically influence socio-cultural conditions in social interaction and social solidarity. This research uses a social-anthropological approach with qualitative descriptive explanation. In general, there are two conditions for creating social interaction, namely, first, social contact and communication. Based on field results, social solidarity and social interaction for the first time between Chinese and the Javanese especially in Kediri, occurred in the form of labor. Chinese people employ local people to help with their work, transporting and unloading ethnic Chinese merchandise that has just arrived from Sungai Brantas Port. From this pattern of organic solidarity it then spreads to mechanical solidarity. When social interaction between them increases, it indirectly fosters harmony and harmony between religious communities
