Abstract

This study aims to develop an effective participatory communication model between Islamic boarding schools and alumni in order to increase alumni involvement and support Islamic boarding schools' economic development. We used a descriptive-qualitative research method, which involves in-depth observation and data analysis. The research results show that ongoing communication between Islamic boarding schools and alumni still faces several obstacles, such as lack of access to technology, incomplete alumni data, and generational differences. However, there are great opportunities in the use of digital platforms, updating alumni databases, and developing interesting alumni programs. The implementation of this participatory communication model has resulted in a significant increase in alumni involvement, as well as strengthening financial and non-financial support for Islamic boarding schools. Evaluation of the impact of this communication model shows increased alumni participation in various Islamic boarding school activities, which contributes to the economic development of Islamic boarding schools more effectively and sustainably.

Abstract

Communication is a term that describes one of the types of human relationships used to share ideas and concepts between two or more parties. For the communication process to be executed, a minimum of two parties is required, as an individual cannot communicate solely with themselves. The communication process also involves sharing ideas, symbols, words, images, and numerous other messages that convey specific meanings. Communication is an essential part of our daily activities, and no individual can live without it. Socialization, education, and learning are heavily dependent on communication. The more positive and skilled the communication, the greater the value and superiority of what we learn. Especially when the communicator holds authority in making decisions. In the story of a hadith, Prophet Muhammad SAW taught the method of communication to false witnesses, demonstrating wise communication while also issuing a warning. Based on these issues, this research formulates two main problems: 1) How did the Prophet Muhammad SAW communicate? 2) How did the Prophet analyze the method of communication with false witnesses? This research uses a qualitative method with a sociological theory approach. The conclusion of this research shows how the Prophet provided advice. In the communication conducted, the Prophet emphasized the importance of speaking good words, being truthful, giving advice with kindness, and issuing a warning to false witnesses.

Abstract

This research explores the religious elements in the Indonesian horror movies ‘Pengabdi Setan’ (2017) and Pengabdi Setan: Communion (2022) using a descriptive qualitative approach, guided by Hank Davis and Javor’s religious horror theory (2004). The research explores how both movies incorporate religious elements from Islam and local beliefs to create a compelling horror narrative. Davis and Javor's theory, which examines the relationship between religion and the supernatural in horror, provides a framework for analyzing the moral and existential tensions between faith and evil forces. By focusing on the role of religious elements in shaping character behavior and plot development, the research highlights how these movies reflect broader societal concerns and spiritual struggles. The analysis reveals how religious elements intensify the horror experience, while also offering a deeper commentary on the complexities of faith, morality, and the battle between good and evil in Indonesian culture. This research is useful for future research, such as analyzing other genres such as horror comedy, based on the Hank Davis and Javor theory. This is also helpful in cultural, literary, and film studies by showing how religious elements can be used in horror to create stories that are both locally relevant and universal.

Abstract

The development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has brought significant changes in various sectors, including education. Management Information Systems (MIS) in the education sector utilize ICT to increase efficiency in data management, administration and learning processes. This paper discusses the role of ICT in supporting educational SIM, starting from managing academic information, communication between stakeholders, to personalizing the teaching and learning process. The application of ICT in education has great potential to increase accessibility, transparency and collaboration between system users. However, the application of ICT also faces several challenges, such as the digital divide, limited training for teaching staff, and issues of data privacy and security. This research uses descriptive-qualitative methods to identify the benefits and obstacles in implementing ICT in education SIM. From the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that optimizing ICT in education SIM requires continuous support, such as HR training, infrastructure improvements, strict data security policies, as well as efforts to build a culture of innovation. It is hoped that the appropriate use of ICT in education SIM can improve the quality of the education system as a whole, prepare students to face challenges in the digital era, and support a more inclusive and effective learning process.

Abstract

Management Information Systems is a field of study that is currently growing rapidly in line with the development of the business world and advances in information technology as a support for business activities. The increasing complexity of systems and their roles in various fields of life requires the study of Management Information Systems through a sociotechnical approach. Until now, discussions and debates about information systems still often revolve around general assumptions that lead to the understanding that information systems are solely related to technical approaches. A multiperspective view of information systems shows that they are a multidisciplinary field of study. This strengthens the position of Management Information Systems, supported by information technology, in shaping enterprise systems and playing a role in enhancing the value chain of a company or organization. This research employs a literature study method to analyze the characteristics, components, and structure of management information in educational institutions. The findings indicate that by utilizing management information systems, educational institutions can improve transparency, accountability, and the quality of education.

Abstract

The principle of tawasuth or moderation in the Qur'an is one of the important teachings that directs Muslims to live a balanced life. Moderation is not only related to worship, but also includes property management, social behavior, and attitudes in religion. This study aims to examine the concept of tawasuth based on the interpretation of Tafsir Al-Misbah by Quraish Shihab on several verses that support this principle, namely Surah Al-Baqarah (2:143), Al-Furqan (25:67), and Luqman (31:19). Through a qualitative analysis approach, this study shows that tafsir Al-Misbah promotes the principle of moderation in practicing religion in a harmonious manner and is relevant for daily life. The conclusion of this study reveals that moderation is a key value that can prevent extremism and build a balanced and just society.

Abstract

Da'wah as an activity to convey Islamic values requires an approach that is relevant to the context of the times. In the global era, the challenges faced not only involve theological issues, but also interaction with various cross-cultural thoughts, especially Islamic and Western philosophy. This research aims to integrate the two philosophical traditions through a transdisciplinary approach in order to enrich da'wah methods, especially to build an inclusive narrative of moderation. Using a qualitative approach based on literature study and hermeneutic analysis, this research finds that the concept of wisdom in Islamic philosophy and deliberation in Western philosophy can be synergized as a theoretical basis for moderation-based da'wah strategies. The findings offer a new paradigm in da'wah studies that is not only rooted in Islamic tradition, but also open to dialogue with Western thought. The implications of this research include the development of a da'wah narrative that is able to respond to social polarization and the needs of a multicultural society in the digital era. The proposed transdisciplinary da'wah model is expected to be a significant contribution in building a more inclusive and harmonious cross-cultural communication framework.

Abstract

This study conducts a comparative analysis of religious moderation values in two significant Indonesian Islamic biographical films: Sang Pencerah (2010) and Sang Kiai (2013). Using qualitative content analysis methodology, the research examines narrative structures, character development, dialogues, and visual symbolism to uncover how each film constructs its representation of moderate Islam. The findings reveal that while both films advocate for religious tolerance and anti-extremism, they employ distinct narrative approaches reflective of their historical contexts and protagonists' ideologies. Sang Pencerah presents KH. Ahmad Dahlan as a progressive reformer who combines Islamic teachings with modern education, emphasizing rational thinking and social inclusion. The film's cinematography, featuring bright lighting and open spaces, visually reinforces these themes of enlightenment and progress. Conversely, Sang Kiai portrays KH. Hasyim Asy'ari as a traditionalist leader who preserves religious values while fostering national unity during colonial occupation, using warm color palettes and pesantren settings to symbolize cultural resilience. The study highlights three key contributions: First, it demonstrates how religious moderation can be effectively communicated through popular media. Second, it reveals the complementary nature of reformist and traditionalist approaches to Islamic moderation. Third, it provides a framework for analyzing religious values in cultural products. These insights are particularly relevant for Indonesia's multicultural society and its current efforts to promote religious harmony through cultural means.

Abstract

This study explores the influence of the co-branding strategy between Make Over Cosmetics and Indonesian singer NIKI on the brand image of Make Over Cosmetics as portrayed on Instagram. In the increasingly competitive Indonesian cosmetics market, innovative marketing strategies such as co-branding play a crucial role in shaping and strengthening brand perception. This research specifically examines consumer responses to the Make Over X NIKI collaboration featured on the @makeoverid Instagram account. Utilizing a quantitative approach, the study surveyed 342 followers of the account who had interacted with content related to the co-branded product launch. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS version 29 through correlation, regression, and classical assumption tests. Findings indicate that co-branding exerts a positive and significant effect on brand image, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.415, suggesting that 41.5% of the variance in brand image is explained by the co-branding variable. The collaboration successfully conveyed a premium and differentiated brand image, aligning with Make Over's motto “Beauty Beyond Rules.” NIKI’s personal brand, global reach, and values reinforced Make Over’s positioning in the market. Through the Elaboration Likelihood Model (ELM), the study highlights the effectiveness of peripheral cues, such as celebrity appeal and aesthetic visuals, in enhancing brand perception on social media. The study concludes that co-branding with suitable influencers significantly strengthens brand image and recommends similar strategies for local beauty brands aiming to compete in digital and global markets.
