Writing is one of the language skills that must to be mastered by the students, but writing is considered as one of the difficult skills to master. Think Pair Share strategy is a cooperative discussion strategy developed by Frank Lyman that creates a more active process, helps to maintain attention and improve the students’ motivation. In this research, the problem of the research could be formulated: How can Think Pair Share strategy improve and motivate the tenth students’ writing comprehension achievement at MA Al Misri Curahmalang 2023/2024 academic year? The hypothesis of the research were formulated: Think Pair Share (TPS) strategy can improve and motivate the tenth students’ writing comprehension achievement at MA Al Misri Curahmalang 2023/2024 academic year. The design of this research is classroom action research. This research method is done in collaborative with the English teacher with sequence steps, namely the planning of the action, implementation of the action, observation, and reflection The result of the score analysis, ( M= 60. 27) in the first cycle to (M=70.06) in the second cycle, and the percentage of students ( ≥ 65 is 61.11%) in the first cycle to ( ≥ 65 is 87.04%) in the second cycle.

This study was intended to analyze the use of Think-Talk-Write (TTW) strategy to enhance students' writing ability along with its benefits and challenges. It used descriptive qualitative as a research design. The subjects of this study were the fourth semester of English Department students at STIT Miftahul Midad Lumajang. Observation and semi-structured interview were conducted in order to collect data. The findings revealed that there were seven procedures of TTW strategy which employed by lecturer in the writing process. Further, students perceived the use of TTW strategy positively. They argued that it could improve communication and collaboration skills, enhance critical thinking abilities, increase confidence in expressing ideas, increase deeper understanding of writing principles, and heighten engagement in the writing process. However, they also encountered some challenges such as the difficulties in organizing thoughts, navigating group discussions, managing time constraints, and maintaining coherence in written compositions. Overall, the findings of this research contribute valuable insights into the implementation of TTW strategy and its impact on students learning experiences. By addressing the challenges identified in the study and leveraging theoretical frameworks to inform instructional practices, educators can enhance the effectiveness of TTW as a learning strategy and support students in developing essential cognitive and metacognitive skills.

This study aims to examine the translation procedures employed by a translator in translating Maher Zain's song lyrics from English to Indonesian. This study specifically examines Maher Zain's selected song lyrics due to its translation popularity in Indonesia. The study utilized the descriptive qualitative method based on Vinay and Darbelnet's theory. The researcher has identified several procedures used by translators are modulation, transposition, equivalence, and borrowing. In translating the selected Maher Zain’s song lyrics, 105 data were found. 25 data were translated using the transposition procedure, 55 data used the modulation procedure, 10 data used the equivalence procedure. Finally, it has been found that translators used 15 data double translation procedures, namely borrowing and equivalence.

Bilingual learning has become increasingly significant within contemporary educational discourse, responding to the growing demand for linguistic diversity and global connectivity. The purpose of this study is to analyze strategies that employed by lecturer to captivate and involve Islamic-based higher education students in bilingual learning environments. Through qualitative research methods by using in-depth interviews and observations, this study explores the diverse lecturer’s strategies to foster meaningful engagement and comprehension in both languages. The subject of this study is non-English lecturer who taught fifth semester students of English Department at STIT Miftahul Midad Lumajang. The research findings highlight the significance of interactive and participatory activities, scaffolding techniques, and the creation of inclusive learning environments in promoting active learning and linguistic proficiency among students. This research contributes to the existing literature on bilingual education by providing insights into lecturer’s strategies and offering practical recommendations for enhancing bilingual learning initiatives in Islamic-based higher education institutions.

This research was conducted because of the low level of English speaking skills which is caused by the lack of learning methods used to support English lessons with an average that is still below, it is still in 60, while the KKM set for English subjects is 75. This research aims to determine the effect of storytelling methods on speaking skills among groups of students taught using the method of storytelling for class X students of MA Miftahul Midad Lumajang Regency East Java in the academic year 2023/2024. This research is a classroom action research. The population in this study was 30 students. Class X students of MA Miftahul Midad Lumajang Regency, academic year 2023/2024. The sample for this research consisted of 30 students. The data collection method used ia a direct observation techniques that assisted with a rubric for assessing English speaking skills. Further, the data that has been collected is analyzed using analytical techniques descriptive statistics and inferential statistical analysis (t-test). The results of this research show that there is a significant influence of storytelling methods on English speaking skills among the group of students studied with the storytelling method.

This study looks into how English Language Learners' (ELLs') writing abilities are affected by project-based learning (PBL). The study used a sample of 70 ELL students from two classes which uses a quantitative research design. The stu-dents were split into two groups: the experimental group participated in PBL activities, while the control group got traditional training. Pre- and post-tests were used to track gains in a number of writing-related areas, such as vocabu-lary, grammar, coherence, and overall writing quality. According to the findings, students in the experimental group improved their writing considerably more than those in the control group. The PBL technique was very successful in improving students' capacity to write cohesive essays and employ a variety of terminology, according to statistical analysis. When partici-pating in PBL activities, students also reported being more motivated and en-gaged in their writing assignments. These results imply that PBL is an effective teaching strategy for ELL students' writing ability development, providing an immersive and participatory learning environment that may be absent from traditional methods. According to the study, including PBL into ELL curricula can improve students' writing and language skills.

Classroom Action Research entitled Improving the Ability of STIT Miftahul Midad Arts UKM Students in Writing Poetry Literature Using Practice Models and Guidance Exercises carried out in two cycles has been declared complete both individually and classically as expected, an indication of this improvement is seen in the pre-action percentage of 33.3% increasing to 58 .3% in cycle 1 and increased again to 91.6% in cycle 2. The method used was the practice method and guidance exercises. The subjects studied were the students of Art UKM STIT Miftahul Midad Lumajang in the 2023/2024 academic year with a total of 21 students. This research data was collected using observation and test methods which were then analyzed using quantitative descriptive techniques. With this increase, it is concluded that the use of practice methods and guidance exercises can improve the ability to write poetryof the students of Art UKM STIT Miftahul Midad Lumajang.

This study explores the use of visual aids on listening comprehension in poetry interpretation among EFL students. It employs a descriptive qualitative research design. The participants of this study are fourth-semester students of the English Department at STIT Miftahul Midd Lumajang. In order to gain the data, it uses semi-structured interviews and classroom observations. The findings indicate that visual aids profoundly elevate student engagement with poetic texts by making abstract concepts more accessible and relatable. The participants of this study reported that these resources not only fostered emotional connections to the material but also encouraged active participation and collaborative discussions. Additionally, visual aids were found to promote cultural awareness, enriching students’ understanding of the literary themes explored in poetry. Overall, this research highlights the transformative potential of visual aids in enhancing the educational experience of EFL students, paving the way for more effective teaching practices. The study advocates for the integration of visual aids into EFL literature instruction to improve comprehension and appreciation of complex texts.

This article explores the intricate relationship between cultural heritage and spiritual reflection within the context of modern Islamic literature, emphasizing how traditional narratives continue to shape contemporary literary expressions. Drawing on qualitative data collected from semi-structured interviews and classroom observations in second semester of English Department students at STIT Miftajhul Midad Lumajang, the study reveals key themes such as the significance of classical poets like Rumi and Ibn Arabi in informing modern spiritual journeys. The participants of this study articulated how their engagement with historical texts not only enriches their literary appreciation but also fosters deeper connections to their cultural identities. Furthermore, this study highlights the role of educational environments in facilitating meaningful dialogues about cultural and spiritual themes, encouraging students to actively engage with and redefine their literary heritage. The findings underscore the importance of blending traditional and modern literary forms to address contemporary social issues, ultimately advocating for a renewed understanding of Islamic literature as a vital source of inspiration and reflection in today's rapidly changing world. This study contributes to the broader discourse on the relevance of cultural heritage in shaping spiritual and literary landscapes, paving the way for future exploration of Islamic literary traditions in modern contexts.

This study aims to investigate enhancing student engagement through the use of video conversation at vocational school. This focuses on Indonesian students which most of them have some difficulties in speaking English, especially at SMK Al-Maliki Lumajang. This study used qualitative case study approach. The data was collected through some document analysis, classroom observation and interview. The result of this study were video conversations foster encouraged collaborative learning, enhanced visual learning, increased students interests, increased students interaction and participation, increased students' creativity. Besides that it was found that there were stronger sense of community among students, and immediate feedback and clarification from the teacher. Those are a powerful tool that effectively enhances student engagement, making learning more impactful and relevant.
