Abstract

This study aims to analyze the teacher’s role in enhancing students’ speaking skills at the tenth grade of MAN 2 Model Medan. This study used a descriptive qualitative research design. The data were collected through classroom observation, interviews, and documentation involving one English teacher and tenth-grade students. The data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s qualitative analysis techniques, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings showed that the teacher performed several roles in the classroom, namely as a controller, organizer, prompter, facilitator, and assessor. The teacher managed classroom activities, provided instructions, encouraged students to speak, and gave feedback during speaking activities. However, the implementation of these roles was not fully optimal because interactive speaking activities were still limited and students showed low confidence in speaking English. Therefore, more communicative and interactive teaching approaches are needed to improve students’ speaking skills effectively.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the implementation of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in MTs NU in creating a generation that cares for the environment, in accordance with the vision of MTs NU which is Islamic, Professional, Superior, Trusted, and Environmentally Insightful. A descriptive qualitative approach is used by collecting data through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results of the study show that MTs NU has successfully integrated sustainability values in the curriculum and environmental programs, such as Zero Waste, waste management, composting, nurseries and eco-brick making. These programs significantly increase students' environmental awareness as well as their active involvement in maintaining cleanliness and practicing sustainability. These findings affirm the importance of synergy between Islamic education and environmental sustainability in producing a morally, socially, and environmentally responsible generation. The results of this study can be a model for other educational institutions that want to implement ESD effectively.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the development of an observation-based science literacy assessment model for early childhood in Padang Panjang Village, to assess the feasibility of the observation-based science literacy assessment model for early childhood in Padang Panjang Village as valid and reliable, and to evaluate the science literacy skills of children before and after using the observation-based science literacy assessment model. This research is conducted in all kindergartens in Padang Panjang Village, Tanta District, Tabalong Regency, South Kalimantan Province. This research is a type of research and development. The research and development model applied is the 4D (Four-D) development model, which includes the stages of definition research, design, and development. The research results indicate that 1) the initial stage of the study reveals a substantial gap in the practice of science literacy assessment at the early childhood education level. As many as 70% of teachers acknowledge that they do not possess systematic assessment instruments, indicating methodological weaknesses in measuring children's science abilities. 2) the feasibility of the assessment model instruments: These assessment instruments are deemed suitable for use, with a very high validity level (86.02%) and strong reliability (average ICC value of 0.84).

Abstract

This study aims to explore the key benefits of blended learning in educational institutions and the challenges educators/teachers and students face in the implementation of blended learning. With the use of a systematic literature review, 25 research papers were synthesized. To ensure a rigorous selection of relevant research studies on the topic while remaining flexible to include diverse views, this study followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) framework across multiple databases, including Google Scholar, Scopus, and Mendeley. The research revealed that blended learning benefits students in a few different ways, e.g., increased autonomy, greater flexibility, inclusivity, support for diverse learning styles, and development of transferrable skills. There are also some challenges that both students and teachers still have to face. Internally, students are faced with distractions, especially from social media, and feelings of isolation, while teachers deal with resistance to change, low self-confidence, and increased workload. Externally, there is still a technological divide between rural and urban areas, a lack of teachers’ involvement in the decision-making process, and a lack of clear policies and strategic direction within educational institutions.

Abstract

The mainstream system of learning often neglects students with learning needs. Hence, the study investigated the level of knowledge of Differentiated Instructional Methods (DIMs), teacher proficiency, successes, barriers to implementation, and the effect of DIMs on individual learning outcomes in Bonny Island. A structured questionnaire was administered and classroom observation was conducted for data collection. The sample population consisted of 50 teachers. Results showed that there was a high level of DIM awareness. However, the success of DIMs varied among schools. 15% of the teachers adopted DIMs. This significantly impacted the learning outcome. Inadequate training, insufficient learning resources, space, lesson preparation time, and lack of support staff were barriers to DIM implementation. A high-class population (30-44) disrupted learning. DIM implementation is imperative to cater to the needs of all children. Pre- and in-service training on DIMs and proper funding and monitoring of schools should be adopted to improve DIM application.
