Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of emotional intelligence training for teachers on classroom climate and student behavior through a literature review approach. Emotional intelligence is one of the important competencies that teachers must possess in facing the increasingly complex dynamics of modern learning. Teachers who have the ability to manage emotions, build empathy, and create positive communication tend to be able to create a conducive learning atmosphere and support the social and academic development of students. The research method used is a literature review by examining various scientific articles, national and international journals, academic books, and previous research results relevant to the topic of emotional intelligence training, classroom climate, and student behavior. Data were analyzed descriptively and comparatively to identify patterns, relationships, and key findings from the various sources reviewed. The results show that emotional intelligence training has a positive impact on teachers' abilities to manage stress, increase empathy, strengthen interpersonal communication, and build more harmonious relationships with students. In addition, the application of emotional intelligence in learning can create a more positive classroom climate, increase student participation, reduce levels of conflict and aggressive behavior, and encourage the formation of disciplined and collaborative behavior in students. Thus, emotional intelligence training for teachers plays a strategic role in creating a healthy, inclusive learning environment that supports the sustainable development of student character.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the implementation of character education management at the Muhammadiyah Modern Boarding School (PPM MBS) Yogyakarta to improve student achievement. Character education is understood as an integrative process that internalises the six values upheld by PPM MBS Yogyakarta—sincerity, honesty, discipline, kinship, togetherness, and independence—through a boarding school-based education system. This study employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects included the head of the senior high school, the deputy head for boarding school affairs, the head of the boarding school department, the discipline officer, the IPM (Islamic Student Association) mentor officer, the language officer, the tahfiz  and worship officer, the head of the boarding school section (   ), senior high school teachers, students, and parents. Data collection techniques involved in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. Data analysis utilised an interactive model comprising data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, with triangulation of sources and methods to ensure data validity. The research findings indicate that character education management in boarding schools is implemented in an integrated manner through the formal curriculum, boarding life guidance, the cultivation of religious practices, the exemplary conduct of educators, and school culture. The implementation of this character education not only contributes to the formation of students’ personalities and attitudes but also has a positive impact on the improvement of academic and non-academic achievements. Key supporting factors include the boarding school system, the exemplary conduct of educators, and the religious environment. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors stem from the heterogeneity of students’ backgrounds and limitations in initial adaptation. This study produced an operational model of boarding school-based character education at senior secondary level that is practical and sustainable.

Abstract

The results of the preliminary study show that the creative thinking skills of prospective elementary school teacher students are relatively low, especially in designing technology-based learning that is to the needs of the 21st century. Therefore, this study aims to develop project-oriented TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge)-based teaching materials to improve the creative thinking skills of elementary school teacher education students. This study used a research and development (R&D) method adapted from Borg & Gall. The subjects of the study consisted of 128 elementary school teacher education students involved in learning planning for elementary schools. The study results show that project-oriented TPACK-based teaching materials are valid, practical, and effective. Experts have confirmed that the teaching materials are valid in construction and content. In addition, observations of increasing student activity at each meeting indicate that the teaching materials are applied practically in learning planning. The students' creative thinking skills test results show that these teaching materials effectively improve the creative thinking skills of prospective teachers. This study implies that using the proper method can improve students' creative thinking skills to design various alternative solutions to problem-solving in learning. This study suggests further developing project-oriented TPACK-based teaching materials for elementary school students.

Abstract

Quantitative literacy ability is an important skill in the digital era 4.0. This research aims to develop a quantitative literacy instrument for class VII students that is valid, reliable, free from Differential Item Functioning (DIF), and capable of measuring abilities accurately. The development method uses a 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), limited to the Develop stage. The instrument consists of 36 questions based on six dimensions of quantitative literacy (interpretation, representation, calculation, assumptions, analysis, communication) which are validated by experts with scores CVI 0.94. Trials were carried out on 220 class VII students, and analysis using the Rasch Model showed high reliability (item reliability 0.99; person reliability 0.85) and good precision (standard error 0.25 logit). The distribution of difficulty levels of questions is in line with average to medium student abilities, although the coverage of extreme abilities needs to be improved. The instrument is considered valid, reliable and precise, but it is recommended to add questions with a higher level of difficulty and review questions that are too easy or difficult to make them more representative.
