Abstract

Islamic boarding school culture is a system of values and social practices that has been formed through a long process since the early days of the spread of Islam in the archipelago. This system is not only a tradition, but also serves as an effective moral education tool for students. This study aims to examine how the culture of the pesantren at the Minhajul Haq Islamic Boarding School, as part of the khalaf pesantren, plays an important role in the formation of the character of the students. The research method uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study show that the habituation of worship, strengthening manners, discipline, social interaction, and the integration of formal and non-formal education are important elements in the formation of the character of students. This research confirms that the pesantren culture in Minhajul Haq is an effective and relevant character education model in the modern context.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the influence of student morality on several factors, one of which is the personality competence of teachers, especially Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers. To improve teacher competence in schools, especially the performance of PAI teachers, it is not enough to simply deliver lessons face-to-face in class, but the personality competence of PAI teachers must be able to build discipline, student morals at school, and a sense of responsibility. This study aims to determine the relationship between the personality competence of PAI teachers with discipline, student morals at school, and student responsibility at SMA Negeri 4 Bandung City. This study departs from the framework of thinking that the personality competence of teachers, especially PAI teachers, greatly determines the attitudes and behavior of students as role models both in the school environment and the community. The method used is a quantitative descriptive associative method and survey, with 120 respondents selected using simple proportional and random sampling techniques. Data collection using Google Form instruments, then analyzed using simple correlation, partial correlation, and multiple regression. The results of the study indicate that Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teacher personality competency has a positive and significant impact on student discipline, morals, and responsibility. Good Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teacher personality competency can improve students' discipline, morals, and sense of responsibility at school, although the impact varies from student to student. External factors such as the social environment, school culture, and interactions between students also influence student behavior. Therefore, teacher competency development must be balanced with the creation of a supportive school environment so that student character formation can proceed optimally.

Abstract

This research conducts an in-depth analysis of the operational efficiency and financial feasibility of implementing a self-hosted web-based New Student Admission (PMB) system compared to a commercial Software as a Service (SaaS) subscription platform within the STAI Minhajul Haq environment. In the era of Education 4.0, the demand to digitize academic administration processes has become increasingly crucial, yet many small to medium-sized higher education institutions face structural constraints in the form of limited budgets for adopting high-cost technology platforms. As a strategic solution, this independent PMB system was developed utilizing low-cost local hosting infrastructure directly integrated with a cloud spreadsheet application programming interface (API) to support real-time academic administration. Utilizing a comparative descriptive quantitative approach, this study evaluates various dimensions of information technology governance, encompassing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) structure calculation, workflow administrative efficiency through a time-motion study framework, data integration accuracy, cybersecurity evaluation, user satisfaction levels based on a Likert Scale questionnaire, and the alignment of sustainable digital governance using the COBIT 5 framework. The results of secondary and primary data analysis indicate that the implementation of a self-hosted PMB system can reduce annual operational costs by more than eighty percent when compared to standard SaaS subscription packages for an equivalent student capacity. In terms of operational efficiency, the application of automated integration successfully slashed applicant data processing time from over ten minutes to less than thirty seconds per individual, effectively eliminating double data entry redundancy and suppressing human error to a marginal level. Based on the Likert Scale survey, administrators reported a significant increase in satisfaction regarding ease of use, accessibility, and cognitive workload reduction. Furthermore, security hardening through the implementation of parameterized queries and secure HTTP headers ensures data integrity remains protected. This study empirically proves that low-cost digital transformation is not merely a temporary financial compromise, but an adaptive, secure, high-performing, and sustainable academic governance strategy for educational institutions operating with limited resources.

Abstract

Qurban activities face significant challenges in technical aspects of slaughter, hygiene, and distribution governance that are often overlooked. This study evaluates the effectiveness of technical assistance on improving the performance and knowledge of the qurban committee in Pasirmuncang Hamlet, Pusakamulya Village, Kiarapedes District, Purwakarta Regency, West Java. Using pre-test and post-test methods with a participatory approach involving 30 respondents and observational triangulation, this study measured 10 performance indicators using a 5-point Likert scale. The results showed a significant cumulative average increase from 2.90 to 4.54 (+1.64; equivalent to a 56.55% increase within the effective range). The highest increase occurred in the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage indicator with a difference of +2.13 (73.45%), while the distribution speed indicator showed the lowest increase (+1.26; 43.45%). Triangulation observations confirmed dramatic improvements in PPE compliance (20%→87%), tool separation (40%→93%), and distribution verification (53%→97%). This research contributes to the development of an integrated assistance model combining sharia aspects, hygiene, management, and sustainability—a previously fragmented approach in various studies. The novelty lies in the comprehensive evaluation bridging the gap between religious ritual aspects and professional technical standards in community-based qurban management.

Abstract

The gap between the ideal model of Qur’anic exegesis education grounded in an authenticated chain of scholarly transmission (sanad) and the reality of tafsir learning in rural communities, which tends to be instantaneous and disconnected from its intellectual lineage, has become a significant challenge in strengthening religious literacy in Indonesia. The Majlis Sama’ Tafsir Al-Baghawi Scientific Seminar, held over nine days (10–18 March 2026) at Abu Bakar Ash-Shidiq Grand Mosque, Pasirmuncang Hamlet, Pusakamulya Village, Kiarapedes District, Purwakarta Regency, featured Shaykh Samir bin Yusuf Al-Hakaliy as the principal lecturer. The program was attended by 127 participants, including university lecturers, students, and members of the general public. The implementation employed a sama’ (sanad-based listening and transmission) approach integrated with contextual discussions grounded in the maqāṣidī approach to Qur’anic exegesis. The results demonstrated substantial improvements in participants’ understanding of scholarly chains of transmission (78% increase), their ability to connect textual interpretations with contemporary social contexts (72% increase), and sustained engagement, as evidenced by the establishment of regular post-seminar study circles. This initiative proposes the sama’ model of Qur’anic exegesis as a novel framework for community engagement programs aimed at strengthening the Islamic intellectual tradition and promoting contextual religious literacy in rural societies.

Abstract

Low levels of religious literacy and the prevalence of value shifts among urban communities pose serious challenges to strengthening the understanding of tawhid. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of a structured study program of the Book of Tawhid by Shaykh Salih bin Fawzan Al-Fawzan, implemented over twelve months (48 sessions), in enhancing aqidah understanding and fostering changes in participants’ religious behavior. The community engagement program employed an andragogical approach and involved 50 lay participants from an urban setting, of whom 46 remained until the end of the program. Evaluation was conducted through a pretest–posttest (30 items), a self-assessment questionnaire on behavioral change (five indicators), a participant satisfaction questionnaire, and in-depth interviews with ten participants. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk test, paired-sample t-test, Cohen’s d, and thematic analysis. The results revealed a significant increase in mean scores from 57.8 to 86.6 (an increase of 28.8 points), with a highly significant t-test result (p < 0.001) and a very large effect size (Cohen’s d = 2.15). All behavioral change indicators showed improvement, particularly the ability to explain the divisions of tawhid (an increase of 62 percentage points) and independent reading of the text (an increase of 59 percentage points). Participant retention reached 92%, with an average attendance rate of 89.4%, and participant satisfaction was rated very high (mean = 4.75 out of 5). The structured and sustained study of the Book of Tawhid proved effective in transforming both the cognitive understanding and religious behavior of urban community members. This model is recommended as a measurable and sustainable alternative for non-formal education-based community engagement.

Abstract

Teachers’ scientific publication competence remains a major challenge in implementing Sustainable Professional Development (Pengembangan Keprofesian Berkelanjutan/PKB), particularly in madrasah education, where limited publication literacy, insufficient mentoring, and low digital scholarly competence often hinder publication outcomes. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a Sustainable Scientific Publication Clinic in improving madrasah teachers’ scientific publication competence through continuous individualized mentoring and ethical integration of digital scholarly tools. The study employed a mixed-methods approach using an explanatory sequential design involving 30 teachers from Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) and Madrasah Aliyah (MA). Quantitative data were collected using a pretest–posttest scientific publication competence questionnaire, while qualitative data were obtained through observations and semi-structured interviews with ten purposively selected participants. The intervention was implemented over three months through academic writing workshops, individualized coaching, ethical use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), Mendeley training, and Open Journal System (OJS) publication mentoring. Paired Sample t-test results showed a significant increase in the mean competency score from 2.26 to 4.36 (p < 0.001), with a very large effect size (Cohen’s d = 2.91) and an N-Gain of 77%. Furthermore, 73.33% of participants successfully submitted manuscripts, while 26.67% achieved article acceptance. Qualitative findings indicated that continuous mentoring, ethical AI utilization, and digital scholarly tools reduced writing barriers, strengthened self-efficacy, and improved participants’ readiness to complete the publication process. These findings suggest that the Sustainable Scientific Publication Clinic provides an effective, technology-supported, and output-oriented mentoring model for strengthening teachers’ scientific publication competence and supporting sustainable professional development.
